New 7mm08 jeep rifle
« on: March 10, 2024, 06:03:59 PM »
Well I bought a new rifle to use while driving around in my jeep looking over the area. I didn’t like loading the 30 06 every time got out to look around and then unloading before moving on.
The new one is a Tikka superlite in 7mm 08 with an extra clip that holds 5 rounds. It has a ss fluted barrel to help keep the weight down and with the light rifle being just over six lbs the 7 mm08 runs
shouldn’t be too hard with recoil.
Soon as I get back home, I will start working up a load and breaking in the barrel.
My first clip style rifle, so even if I venture out on a ridge at least the extra rounds will be contained and not rattling around in my pockets.

An ex-Marine hunts deer on my farm with one. One round kill every time.

Well no pics to post. Sales slips are all I have. Hopefully the rifle is at an FFL in WA and the extra clip is in the mail.

Bob, that is unfortunate. My day is shot now w/o those pics. Guess I’m going to have to go to work now and drown my sorrows in gear oil……

Well, a little over two months ago I set out to bring my new rifle home. I answered a question wrong on application I guess so they said I needed to wait 30 days and resubmit the form. I went back 30 days later redid the form and was told I was one day early so had to wait another 30 days. Got a refund for the rifle and left.

Darn!
A friend of mine hunts with that gun in Kentucky and Wyoming. I mentioned him already. He killed a nice whitetail on my farm with it. I never paid attention to it until he showed up with it. A Marine veteran of Fallushia, second chapter, he knows weapons very well. He looks at my 308's and just holds onto his 7mm 08.
