My youngest would love a forge, he's knife crazy.

Got back to cleaning the Garage, its like a hurricane clean up in there with all the projects.

Moving the LS into storage outside and the big compressor to the side of the house. New slab poured by PGE that gives me a great place to put it.

I couldn’t get our video to upload yesterday but today works,  we poured 70 pounds of aluminum yesterday for his senior project at WSU and had some really great returns on our efforts.   I made the cop and drag for them to pour in, the school didn’t have one large enough for the center logo.    8/4 poplar with finger joints at each corner, brass pins and glue to hold them together.

Why the lip on the pad PGE poured, JR? Seems like a trip hazard every time you come around that corner.

Pushes the fence to edge of garage and gives room to mount the comp. New fence going in to that point, planned.

Moved both the LS motor and air comp to the side of the house. Ending up taking the better part of the day trying not to drop anything.

To bad the forks are in NV.

Took a snowboard day.  Snowbasin Utah. The home of the fastest recorded speed of the Olympic down hill.

My cousin from Minnesota came to ski for the weekend and asked if I would show him around.    I officially call myself old when I can’t hang with these young kids.   I am long past done at 1:30

Good day anyway

Seems to me, a gradual upward slope would be better than the couple of 90*s (or what look like 90s).

So last night I am pulling into a quick stop. Lots of merging traffic on left, I am turning right and its dark. As I turn a guy on a bike is coming at me (wrong side of road, no light or reflectors) he swerves and missis me. I am happy about that, would have been messy.

I park and start going and here he comes yelling at me for almost hitting him. I tell him he is in the wrong and figure its over. Someone walks over from in front of the store (its a hangout for some) and says did you hit me grandpa. He gets just close enough to blow some smoke towards me. I tell him, back off, non of your business and if you blow that at me again I'll start by slapping it out of your hand. He backs away and goes into the bushes, returning but keeping his distance this time.

Man on bike is still yelling and I tell him the same as before, he says I am threatening him. I am standing next to my truck as he rants, but his bark was all he had it seems. Store clerk is asking about the problem, and I fill him, do my thing and leave, looking over my shoulder of course.

Didn't want to go hands on, but it worked out. I did have a big can of OC in my hand if needed. Its fun to see people roll around and cry sometimes.

Changed the oil out of the duramax today, replaced the Fass fuel filters on the pump, need to replace the factory fuel filter still.

Garage smells proper diesel fuel and exhaust mixed with stinky 10k diesel oil.

Started another project this week

2002 Honda XR200R

Ordered some tubes, tires, throttle cable, brake&clutch cables, air filter.

Cleaned the carburetor tonight.  It was really froze up but good to flick now.   Pressure wash the frame and motor off tomorrow and re assemble

Pressure washed off the Honda and added some fuel, it fired first kick.  But.... the floats must be sticking and the fuel pours out of the hoses

I pulled two of the three and cleaned them but the main I didn’t get it cleaned.  The floats were sticking at first and pouring fuel everywhere. That was my first fix, now to pull it apart and clean them all.  Looking at some of this stuff

We got a new hired hand. My nephew. He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. Except when it comes to women. But I had that problem also. (So did his dad.) But he brings a good skill set to the farm. I told him he had to find a job and keep it somewhere else for at lest 6 months before I would hire him. He fulfilled that request. He worked at a welding shop building and wiring trailers. 2 things I cant do. I am bad welder and I'm partially color blind so I stay away from wires. Also he is trainable.

I guess I can tell this now also since the papers are signed and down payment made.  There was a widow woman living in the middle of one of our fields. She decided to move closer to family and sell the place. We thought it was in the farms best interest to scoop the place up. I didn't want some city folks moving in complaining about the dust and whatever else. The timing was right with the new hire and everything. We will put my Nephew in that house.

We will take the pasture along the lane out and farm that. But we will leave the rest. The grove will stay as well as the the rest of the pasture. Its well established brome grass.

Well after 22months I think I’ve worn out the gasser

Also I worked around the house today doing odds and ends. Reprogrammed the sprinkler system. Started redoing the drip beds in the back and converting to micro sprinklers.

Both garage doors had been hit by cars backing out of the garage before they were fully opened. The bottom panel was bowed at the bottom. They are cedar clad and stained.  Had a quote some years ago for $800 per door to repair.

Looking at it today I decided that if they were bent backing out maybe I could bend them back by running into them. Pulled the minivan up to the door and stopped the door so that the bottom lined up with the license plate bracket. Eased up to the door and shoved it in. To my surprise it worked.  Then I just had to pry off the bottom 1x6 cedar board trim and cut and replace. Will have to put a few more coats of stain on it to get it to match but for $30 worth of wood and a tube of construction adhesive I’ll take it.

Wife was duly impressed with my redneckery

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

way to go, Me on the other hand, well not so much. Wife has managed to back into car that was also backing out of parking spot, then today backed into Uncle's rig as she was backing out of garage. First one had to have tail light assembly replaced on other car, the one today did no damage to the pick up so insurance claim needed
