Faith Discussion / Need some feedback from my fellow men
« on: October 09, 2019, 01:43:11 PM »
Hey guys. We are 37 and 34.  Im admitting that I am having a hard time in my marriage, we both are.  We have been married 6 years and have two girls together ages 5 and 2.5.  We are currently wrapped up in our professional careers and running after kids.  Stressing about money has some to do with it.  But bottom line, I can be difficult and she can be ..absent from the room..for lack of a better term.  Im trying to find a path to being a better man, husband and father.  I have a few guys friends I can talk to but not often.  Ive never really had a solid man based forum in which to gather pov’s and draw positive energy from. My wife’s father is an alcoholic in denial who cannot be personal, and my relationship with my father is stressed because he has treated my mom terrible for decades-which I resent. I dont go to him for this help. That’s part of how I am difficult. I sometimes catch myself talking to my wife the way he does to my mother.  I recognize it though, and I want to change it.  My wife has come out to tell me that she is depressed and hates her job as a teacher which she has done for 13 years.  We have started to look for counselors to talk to because, honestly I dont know how to navigate this tough time.  I wanna to do what’s best for my marriage and for my family.  I know what my girls see in me is what they will look for in a man-and I need to be better.

Im just hoping to draw form a good source of experience and from good men.  Thanks guys, I look forward to outside opinions and points of view.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Need some home refi advice
« on: May 07, 2019, 11:32:18 AM »
Hey gents, I could use your worldly wisdom here.

We began down the road of a cash out refi to eliminate some debt and get a shop built. Long story short-

We built the house nearly 4 years ago and had 20K equity the day we moved in.  Fast forward a few years and with the knowledge that our area is a hot spot for growth-we decided to try and refi.

We filled out everything and then it was the appraisal that was the keystone.  Well it appraised for the same thing it did when we moved in.  Right, NO appreciation what so ever.  It’s not like we let the house go to shat.  In fact Ive put a lot into it.

I am fighting this because the coms the appraiser chose were terrible. I pulled some myself that, to me, made sense that we should appraise at least 40k more than it was.  All the mortgage company said was sorry we cant do anything. So we are out 600$ for the appraisal and they wont even consider the proof we found ourselves.

We have good friends in the multi million dollar club of real estate.  They all say that is absolute nonsense.

Any thoughts here?  I am currently waiting for a response from the mortgage company from our last correspondence regarding the fact the we feel we didn’t get a fair shake.  I mean the appraiser lived over an hour away. How could he know our area. The company was suggested highly to us ny some family friends.

« on: February 10, 2019, 12:38:00 PM »
Built us some new parts for the dining area. I’m very pleased with how this came out. The only thing not built by me were the chairs. They came galvanized and I painted them the oil rubbed bronze that I painted the table base.

Next is to shiplap that wall and add shelves.

Cooking equipment / Treagers
« on: January 17, 2019, 08:12:42 PM »
Any of you bretherin have a Trager?  Dear wife surprised me with one a few weeks before Christmas.  Its a small one, and Tailgater 20 so we can take it camping.   I have already made some incredible meals with it.  My only complaint is the feeding system. If I dont clean the temp probe and the fire basin almost every other time it will either runaway or just stop burning.  Kinda annoying when you are cooking for a few people and realize through the remote thermo the temp is 88 degrees half way through. I was hoping I could actually set it and forget it.  Overall though, it has made some excellent steaks, jerky, whole chickens, loins and wings.  Just thinking outloud.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Big life decision. Input needed.
« on: August 03, 2018, 08:13:03 AM »
Morning fellas, Id like you guys to chime in and allow me to borrow wisdom from a pool of knowledge if you dont mind.

We have found ourselves in debt mostly from credit cards to the tune of 40k.  We havent ever budgeted and yes I know we have been ignorant.  We both make very decent salaries but still, living above our means has brought us to a crossroads.  I feel we have caught it just in time.  An awakening happened when we tried to get my wife into a larger vehicle and couldn’t get finiancing from anyone!  We pulled our reports and saw the problem. Overspending has caught up to us.

We have an option to sell our property which we built 3 years ago.  We have a lot of equity in it and our location is a white hot areas for land and home sales.  Seems everyone is coming down from the city and looking for average and a little farmhouse.  We are thinking of taking the profit and immediately getting out of all outstanding debt and living like gypsies in the 5th wheel for 12 months saving all the money that is therefore available.  We have tremendously gracious family and friends that would accommodate us for that amount of time.  We are strongly considering the adventure, we have two girls, 4 and 1.5yrs. It will be challenging at times but the payoff will be huge when we decide to find land and build again.

The other option is keep what we have and spend years of struggle to catch up and even longer for our credit to do the same.  Kind of a no brainer to me.  However I would like your input, perhaps from your own life experiences.  We are in our 30’s so I figure if we ar going to do this, then the time is now.  We are on a quest for true freedom and happiness.  I feel we have lied to ourselves living the dream (fake) while being a slave to creditors for too long.

Thanks all!

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / What are the chances...
« on: July 11, 2018, 12:30:12 PM »
I mean the left is desperate. This we know. I had a thought last night and felt I’d share.

Is it possible....that the true end of America as we know it would in fact be due to the liberal/communist agenda and their no holds barred attempt to take over?  I have no doubt some would be so willing to do whatever it takes to take complete control. Even if it could destroy the country. I mean think about it. Look at Kalifornia. It’s basically one big failure. Imagine that MO across the nation. I just would not be surprised if a coordinated, last ditch effort were attempted by all the radicals together.  I hate to think that but it is the world we live in. I have a suspicion and a feeling. I’m not saying it would be Red Dawn but I’m positive there are underground rooms full of people searching for ways to do this.

Happy Memorial Day to those who served and to those who served ultimately. Thank you all for doing a huge part in ensuring continuity to our extraordinarily great country.  May God look after our soldiers past, present and future. As they do the same for all else.

I am very proud and thankful!

This is so out of control.  How can the leadership not understand how this will affect business.  Oh yes, that’s right.  Same Liberal mindset applied here.  “I dont see them from my gated community bubble”.  “Can’t be all that bad”.  Well lets see how the bottom line is affected then wait for the addendum to all this.  Absurd.

D.O.T. / Looking for: Private, Secluded, Retreats for rent
« on: May 16, 2018, 09:56:22 AM »
Mornin fellas.  I have been searching for a weekend getaway place somewhat close to us that’s along the lines of 4wd access only and completely secluded.  Preferably in the mountains of TN and NC.  I am located in Georgia.  Im looking for a private poperty to rent out for short term where I can reset.  Id love to fish, cook, brew strong coffee and sip some great Borbon in the evenings.  Just a disconnected getaway for the wife and I and to show the kids round natures beauty.

All my searches have come up with properties geared towards hot tubs and pool tables.  Ok hot tubs would be nice but certainly not necessary.  Im looking for simple and very private.  There has to be a website or some way to contact people who are in the same mindset.  I find this difficult to come across.  Can anyone suggest a direction?

Thanks all,

Jonathan

What do you guys think here?

This is how I see it~For decades we have been increasingly Screwed by other nations by paying high taxes on their products yet we charge very little for ours such as fuel, grain and corn. Trump says nah, this is done, eat some of your own crap and the world is having a meltdown.  In my view, Trump is doing just what he said he’d do-Shake Things Up. For (Especially the last 8 years) the last several years we’ve been at the bottom of exporting at our very large expense. Now it may sting at first because we have set in our ways. And no one has been the wiser unless they researched the truth on their own. But this can be a yet another step towards getting back on top.

I, like many others, am a creature of habit. I have enjoyed the flavor of a particular brand of whiskey for the past few years.  However, Ive decided to branch out and see what else I may enjoy.  I have delved into the realm of the somewhat unthinkable, Japanese whiskey.  Ive always thought of the country of being the origin of good rice wine or Saki, which I do enjoy as well.  BUT, from the recommendation of my local store owner, I tried Sensei for a different take. It seemed to have good reviews and had a decent median price that I usually sample from of around $45.  I brought it home and didn’t open it for a few days as the weekend came around. Then, I did a taste taste compared to my usual, Knob Creek.

The differences are absolutely notable on first encounter. The smell is sweeter and simpler, lacking the Smokey notes of American bourbon/whiskey.  This smells more like a scotch.  I tasted the same as the nose already hinted towards.  It’s a lesser complex yet compound flavor.  This is blended malt whiskey, which I have never heard of and explains the scotch flavor.  My overview, this is a very good venture and I plan on sipping more and other choices in the near future.  I highly suggest giving this a try.

~To enjoying new things my fellow gentlemen Patriots.

I am appalled at the jury’s desicion to let this 7 time felon-5 time deportee go with just a nother felony.  Just another one to add to the list as a gun posession charge.  No big deal right, no big deal since he got off of being responsible for senselessly taking an American's life.
This is what this nation is coming to.  Come here as much as you want, soak up our benefits, hell even commit violent crimes.  Sounds like a twilight zone alternative universe where the green lights mean stop and red means go.

Well it’s not an early morning rant, but I did have a bit of BRCC silencer smooth coffee!
Anyhow, I have been surfing the web a little lately and have come across John Mosby at Mountain Guerrilla and I’ve read some of his stuff. It’s harsh and brass and fact of the matter. I like it and plan on ordering his book “ The Reluctant Partisan”. Has anyone come across this site?  He also apparently teaches tactical preparedness classes across the nation. He supports another site called “The forward Observer” where the book can ordered and hosts more information about the going’s on in the world that the media may not be telling.

Interested in your thoughts.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Vegas.
« on: October 02, 2017, 08:08:49 PM »
Forgive me gentlemen, I am just thinking this Vegas massacre, the worst in recent US history is just too convenient for some things.  Not to mention what the brainwashers/brainwashees are saying about the people that were killed and injured.  I mean I am not much for conspiracies, but comon, 16 weapons including fully automatic and hundreds of rounds. I do understand he had money and could have acquired these illegally but for someone to just plan all this for apparently no reason is unrealistic at best.  I just can’t wait for the “story” to come out if it ever does.

What I am left wondering is this:

What is this supposed to draw attention away from?
Will we ever know the truth? I know the answer to that one.
Was this guy a pawn to get rid of Long guns? Full Auto hadn’t been used yet in a massacre of this scale. Are the radicals pulling out all the stops or what!

Bottom line is I am sick about this. It gives me a physical environmental response. I feel so much for the people affected by this. They could have been my kids or my family or friends.

What’s next. What say you?

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Eclipse mania
« on: August 20, 2017, 10:18:16 PM »
I dont understand all this hubbub about the solar eclipse tomorrow. I do understand that is hasn't happened in around 100 years and that's cool and all. But why millions of people are converging on cities across the country in the path of this occurrence is a beyond me. Listen Im not activist but the mobilization of this many people for one day for one reason could wipe out the occurrence of starving kids or veterans that need help. Millions of dollars will pour into these cities for hotels, stores and restaurants which will bring about a boom for the local economies, especially in lots of rural ones which is great, but... Just imagine this ONE occurrence in which people are willing to skip work to stare into the sun...all while renting a shipping container with a/c for $3500 a weekend.

I cant help but think how backwards masses can be.

Share Your Recipe / Venison easy bake
« on: August 08, 2017, 10:57:21 PM »
I tend to try things and see if it sticks when it comes to cooking. This one was AWESOME! I took a big deer steak and cut it into 3x3 cubes and perforated it with a fork.

In a bowl use worcheshire liberally. Almost cover all of it. Take horseradish mayo or just HR and go ahead and be liberal with that too. Slice some japaleenos and onion (big pieces) and throw them in. Pour in a 7.5oz coke (regular), cover and marinate for 2-3 days stirring once a day.  When ready take thick cut peppered bacon and wrap each one with a toothpick to hold it together. Place them all lined up in a appropriatly sized pyrex dish, pour marinade in and cover with foil. Preheat and bake at 425 for 10-15 mins then turn it down to 325 for about 20-25 mins. Check on it around the 30 min (total) mark.  This is optional but when almost done I heated a pan with a little olive oil and seared them both sides to crisp up the bacon and give some texture. The house will be smelling so good right now.  That marinade you cooked it in is now also an incredible sauce!!!

For sides I peeled and sliced carrots and marinated them in a freezer bag with a bottle of ginger beer for a few days too. Turning once a day. Bake those in a covered dish with butter (I really like land o lakes salted) for about 30 mins while you cook the meat.   Add home made mashed pots and this is a absolute killer recipe!  Tasted JUST like beef tips. If you have a family memeber that just can't see past Bamby (like my wife) they would never know.  Add your own twist!  My reciepes are always different and I measure and write down nothing. I just use what I got!

Enjoy!!

I would love to know what Tillerson, Maddis and the Donald have planned in case that lunatic actually gets lucky and fires one off something that reaches the US, it's territories, or anyone for that matter.  How has this gone so far and other nations aren't close....or do they just hide their crazy a little better...?  What are the boys and girls of Anderson AFB in Guam asking right now?  Is China really on our side if crap gets real?  This is a bit worrisome to me.

Thoughts gentlemen?

I was fueling up before grocery shopping yesterday in my small town. American flags were flying and the public around me had not a care in the world. The weather was great and my family was safe. I took a look around and said thanks to those who helped to make this be a reality in the greatest country on earth.  It was a good feeling and I know exactly why I am able to have that experience.  Thank you to all that serve and have served. To those that came home intact, mostly intact and the warriors that didn't. To those that serve here in our hometowns.  I thank you, my family thanks you. Today and everyday is owed to you.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Satellite Radio COMMERCIALS
« on: February 21, 2017, 09:52:20 PM »
So Ive had XM radio for a while, left and came back a few times with different vehicles and what not.  Any how I have noticed an 80% increase in commercials during these paid programs.  All I hear about is credit card/tax debt relief, appliance insurance, lasic surgery.... Well Im over it.  I called them up and asked (like I would get a straight answer) what was up with this so called no commercial programming.

Well of course they are trained to never even say the word commercial.  They instead reference it as "programming". And try to act like they dont know what your talking about.  I asked if they could show me in the fine print why this is allowed and again no real answer.

On hold for a few minutes to "check on things" and come back with a discounted year if I pay up front....Well I was ticked off at this point, they are trying to make a sale as I call in as an unhappy customer.  They really are used to talking to dummy's I guess.  I dont mind negotiation one bit so I counter.  I told them unless they fess up and just say , Ya we throw in some paid advertisement to pay the bills, I quit.  At this point I just wanted the truth from them.  HA partly just to see what they come up with as an answer.  They are trained politicians.  No real answers.

Well, I never did get an answer but they "escalated the matter" to a higher level.  Ya we know that wont accomplish anything.  I ended up winning out the negotiation with a few free months and a discounted rate.

Gotta love they know what is happening and they will do everything they can to go around it even by throwing a bone to make it go away!  Sounds crooked to me, even if I got something for it.

Fellas, in the spring I will likely seed roughly 2.5-3 acres for a big field for a yield crop, perhaps feed for livestock.  I would most likely plant Bermuda for grazing as it is green most of the year especially at our very mild winters.  What pump size/distribution method would be best.  My creek is 10' wide and full all year round.  It is 6-8' deep at one particular spot on my property.  Thanks in advance.

How often do you carry a firearm?

Do you bend the rules a bit if an establishment has a "no weapons" decal on the window? Government Municipalities are not included of course, that could be a bad deal.  I'm talking about restaurants, shops, etc.

I'm interested in who carries what and in what fashion.

I carry a Shield 9mm in a custom kydex at 6'oclock IWB.  I carry everywhere but inside work.. If allowed, I would every second of every day.

I enjoy outdoors and raising my kids to be self and situationally aware adults.  I recently started making jerky because I was sick of all the processed ingredients. I was lead here as I found that the owner left a former forum to start his own.  I followed the dodge 12v build and I was hooked.  I'm looking forward to learning and sharing information with fellas and ladies I believe are in the same mindset I am.

Thanks guys!
