Just a thought, not sure if it really a concern pr not.  What about moisture levels and mold inside the structure, particularly in the warmer months. You are going to have 500 gallons of h2o stored in there, so there is a good chance of humidity and condensation.  Not sure what the fix action would be,but I would guess it would be preferrsble to remediation.
I don't know what to design/modify for at the moment. I just can't guess at what might happen once I get the thing running. I would expect some moisture, but with all the insulation, temp changes should be less than what we see in a normal shed. And speaking of which, how much moisture and or mold do we see inside sheds?
The tanks will be fairly well sealed, hooked to a filler pipe and rain gutter collection pipe which will have a vent as well. So the transfer of water vapor outside the tank should be minimal.

But the structure will sit atop a gravel base (Read: Porous) so again, who knows yet???

SO, did she hit a BIG BLACK LADY or her car???

My wifes last "incident" was inside the garage. She left her car in neutral and got out. Thank god the door was open which stopped it before going down the driveway.

 :knucklehead:
Clarification: Lady in a car. That other person was high on something. When Kat started to press, the other person saddled up and took off...Cool!

Oh and Kat backed out of the garage

Without opening the garage door!

19204
Then covered the remaining exposed wood

I want to say I have a minimum of R17 walls and roof. Not the best, but much better than bare studded and sheeted wall. Considering the potential for thermal storage of 500+ gallons of water, I shouldn't see any problems out of this setup excpet under very severe conditions.

19205
I cut up the scrap foam board and stuffed it into every remaining nook and cranny

19206
The door seal detail is shown here minus the foam gasket that will get applied over some paint

19207
And more, concentrating on overlapping joints and good seals

Side note: At this point, around 1530, the Scout dog escaped, but I hadn't realized it. I didn't realize it until I was showering at 1745 and realized the dog wasn't around

So off we went hunting the thing

and found him

In a mud puddle in the back of the neighbors, several houses up the street

19208
Then I started covering the itchy mess with that foam board Shawn swoons over. Personally, I don't care for the color, but he does, so I continue using it to keep him and other folks happy

19209
And added another latch

Because

I guess I purchased two of them and just noticed the one laying on the floor in a pile of debris.

19210
Yes, and thank you for asking, I did tape the adjacent pieces of insulation bat together. Found this super tape that is used in the military to tape rotor blades back onto helicopter rotorheads when they fall off...Good stuff!

I created this flange surrounding the inside of the door to which I plan to affix some foam gasket stuff

19211
I finally finished distributing fibers of glass strands in and around my neckline, and the inside of the structure...YIPPEE!

The GJ is doing just fine. Well except that she side swiped some poor unfortunate black lady in Cincy and half way tore the bumper off the front.

I'm done fixing her partially destroyed new cars, so I just left it flopping around. Kinda looks like a saint Bernard dag running around with it's tongue hanging out

That's one of the beauties of picking up a 2500 burb now. It could be turned into a duramax powered suburban when my rich uncle dies in the poor house!

I don't know about less durable, but slightly shorter, yes.

Funny, I was picturing the below "truck" in my head.  Its got some definite benefits going for it.  The front bumper is low enough to catch on any curbs to keep you out of the dreaded mulch, and in the gut-wrenching circumstances where you end up in it anyway, the front air dam can act like a small plow to push it out of the way until you reach  the safety of solid ground.  Just sayin, I'm trying to watch out for you.

Dave

Positive thinkin' But you've seen the mulch around here...It's everywhere

How about some grass already!

Almost nothing can save you from getting mired in the mulch, or worse, getting stuck shopping for clothes with the wife...

Nothing good about malls, nothin'

19228
I came up with this little key way section to tie the underside trim pieces together

It's a bit crooked because the roof panels are not attached, but just resting there. It will all tighten up with some of those long screws!

19229
The underside of the roof is similarly trimmed and will get a bead of calk once final assembled

19230
The corners trim out with opposite and overlapping joints

19231
Trim pieces already cut and fitted are stacking up awaiting some paint

19232
Remember the roof is actually two halves which must be coupled and completed once fastened to the structure, so the trim has a gap which I will cover with this patch

19233
I was running pretty low on the pine board, but with what I had remaining, I cut out the roof trim front and back

19234
The pin captures both doors and holds them within an eighth of an inch from closing. I plan to build a flange behind the doors and set some foam sealer strip on it to really seal that area up

19235
Now I am getting a nice snug fit. I am settling for the tighter fit, since I do not envision getting into that space very often.

I used a simple gate latch to hold the doors closed, although I'll double up on that once I get the thing final assembled on site

19236
I just about have the structure completed and ready to transport down to the Farm

I just couldn't get the doors which are pretty thick, to fit well, so I cut out the center post and built another thinner one

Then hung the second door

Shawn is right, use the existing rig when you need heavy duty. Use a 1/2 ton the rest of the time. Maybe even buy an older Dodge diesel and rebuild it...Oh wait, I shouldn't have gone there.

Agreed ... no one will have any sympathy for you.  You can't complain about needing another vehicle when there is one that is 95% done already in your garage.

But if you are going to buy a suburban or Tahoe, avoid the half ton models from 2007 to current that have the 5.3L engine unless you secretly want it to fail so you can repower it with a diesel.  The active fuel management system has been causing valve lifter failures left and right, which basically results in needing a new engine, just out of warranty for many people.  The 6.0L that came in the 3/4 ton models did not have this issue as well as the 6.2L that came in the denalis and escalades up through 2009.  In 2010 AFM was added to the 6.2L as well.
Square D is not a driver truck

It's big heavy, will be loud and obnoxious and a rolling statement, not at all what I am looking for in a driver.

I want something easier to drive, but can still pull a trailer, albeit, maybe not one loaded with my tractor and a load of plywood.

I have been hitting all over the map on what I want to buy.

For a time I was considering a Ram Power Wagon. But I already own a great 3/4 ton truck which is pretty off road capable. Mine is probably not as good as a power wagon, but for years now it has served me well and has actually been off road almost every month (week??) I have owned it. So obviously it is working pretty well

Then I became interested in the Colorado ZR2 truck. With it I get a smaller package that I can actually park in a normal parking space. And it should deliver incredible fuel mileage. It should be a good parts runner as well and haul the family to church.

But it's expensive and although I could afford the purchase, I'd be buying something that would depreciate rapidly, forcing me to keep it more or less, forever.

I like heavy duty trucks. I like plenty of space like my crew cab gives me. I have a need to travel every so often and would like to store my baggage inside. If I want to pull off for a brief nap, I'd like space to do that as well. I want to buy something that I feel is a good buy for the money, so that speaks to used, 3/4 ton, heavy duty and spacious.

All that points right at a 3/4 ton Suburban or Yukon XL.

So I started looking at them. Looking all the way back to the 2001 year model. I have some experience here, we owned a 2004 1500 Suburban Z-71 for a long time. It was a great truck for people/baby moving chores. I seem to perfer the GMT-900 platform debuting in 07 and running forward to a couple years ago.

But I have seen a couple of outstanding older 3/4 ton Suburbans with that 496 cu in big block engine.

So, I'm now also considering 3/4 ton Surburbans from 2001 to 2012 with an eye on a 07-newer with the 6.0 engine.

What do we think about all that?

Does anyone have any experience with the keltec KSG?  Local gun store is running a specials on them for $550 this weekend, normally around $900.  Ive read some about them and they have piqued my interest.

Any info would be appreciated.

That price is fantastic!

They have worked that issue out of the product now, I hear

Obama was seen storming away from the West Wing after staffers from Donald Trump’s transition team began preparing the Executive offices for the new administration. OnTrump’s orders, one of Obama’s most secretive rituals is being reversed and all signs of it removed from
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

For the past 7 years, to appease any Muslims working at or visiting the White House, silence has been ordered during the five times of Islamic prayer each day. In addition, prayer rugs and crescent moon symbols are available in several areas of the executive mansion to make Muslims more comfortable.
The administration has defended the practice by asserting that it also observes several other religious moments of silence and prayer out of respect, including a full 15 seconds for Christianity on Sunday morning while a chaplain blesses a staff breakfast. None of the prayer is mandatory or led by a government official, which has allowed the administration to subvert 1st Amendment issues, but the obvious favoritism towards Islam, which is observed for 25 minutes per day seven days a week, tells a story this president has denied for eight years.

President-Elect Trump, who acknowledges that this country was founded by Christians and was built on Christian morals, is having all pagan symbols removed from the property unless they offer some historical significance. Only the cross in the White House chapel will remain for worship. Jim Mergernerlerny, head of the team that will transform the White House from the Obama’s home to the Trump’s second home, told
MSNBC:

“Mr. Trump doesn’t see the need to provide prayer rugs and false idols in a house built by Christians. Washington DC offers a diverse cultural center for worship of any kind. You won’t find any special considerations for Judaism or crucifixes to appease Catholics, either.
There is a simple chapel with a single cross on one wall that is suitable for prayer by anyone. Our government doesn’t need to be forcing prayer rituals down people’s throats just so we don’t ‘offend’
people looking to blow us up.”

Patriots around the US can rest assured that the era of apologizing for our faith has come to an end.

What are you building? / Re: Using creek on property to water 3 acres
« on: January 23, 2017, 09:12:31 AM »
An engineer friend of mine was telling me of this very same set up.  A hydraulic ram set up.  I was toying with the idea of building a small simple cabin type structure down there on the creek and he was telling me how I could provide water pressure for it that way.  I'd prob mess it up if I tried to explain it again but something about placing a pickup down in the deepest part and putting a series of check valves in so the water would naturally fill and transverse the cavities due to the force of the water and gravity....there I tried.

Buuut I don't think it would provide the volume I'd need.  I do have a generator I could keep down there and pump when I needed it.  I could just fill a resevoir at high ground and gravity feed the system.  If I came across a large enough PPL vessel I'd just fill it every other use or so.
Most applications of this setup move a bunch of water which the owners use to fill big tanks.

The water is then apportioned as necessary from said tanks
