Valentine's day: I just KILLED it!
« on: February 10, 2022, 11:15:09 PM »
Bought my beautiful wife a new Cadillac today

Picked up a 2022 XT6 AWD

What a beauty (Both of them) I parked it in the driveway and hid when she came home. Should have seen it...She was squealing like a school girl she was so happy. Pre-Ranger and I watched her climb all over it. She was clapping her hands and giggling...Was so cool.

Tomorrow we drive it to Savannah. Going to give our boy a hug before he departs for Europe. He is one of the soldiers who got called up. His Battalion of M1's and Bradleys will soon be staring across a fence at Russian soldiers. I thought we had better go steal some time with him...

What platform is that off ? The Tahoe? Or the traverse size?

So is she getting rid of the jap truck?

Good job.  I remember my wife getting her Lexus at the dealer with the big red bow.  Priceless

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

I couldn’t tell from the photo if it was the Escalade size.    I like the size of the traverse.  Good for almost everything and even has a tow package option.

Ours yanks around my little three rail motorcross trailer with two bikes on it east but you are correct. Homedepot runs and a 6x6 enclosed with balloons in it are about it.   But it’s still an option lol

I was at a camper dealer and this lady kept referring to her traverse as a truck. It was hard not laugh. I know mine wouldn't hardly pull a loaded lawnmower trailer. In all fairness the ramp gate was like a parachute.

All kidding aside the new traverse is real nice vehicle.  I can only imagine how sweet a ride the Caddie version is. God job boss!

I don't know what platform the Buick Enclave is on but ours had the towing package. I never took the cover off the hitch setup because the rating was so low.
Those rigs are really nice rides, You have spoiled her for sure.

Not Tahoe, Traverse maybe. A six or seven seat SUV

Mileage is unbelievable. Best tank yesterday (long drive) was 29.7. Average for the trip was 26.3

3.6 V6, automatic everything I want to say 306 horsepower mated to what I think is an 8 speed transmission

Same as traverse Bob. Mine has the Acadia version
so let's tally here:
Chief caddy
Dave Chevy
john chevy
bob buick
tate GMC

like Ken told me before, spark plugs and injector cleaner. i think we avg 28mpg on that 3.6 when we head north from Southern OR to WA visiting the boy.

Re: Valentine's day: I just KILLED it! (2022 Cadillac XT6)
« Reply #21 on: February 15, 2022, 11:55:06 AM »
We just drove to/from Savannah. and it was consistent. 24.6 is average MPG for the trip with the best tank being that same 29.7 it recorded on its first few hundred miles of life.
I felt it had plenty of power. We were always able to maintain a constant 75mph even while climbing those miles-long mountain grades where the trucks are all back to 45mph in the right lane with their flashers on.
We went through more mountains on the trip down going through Ashville, N.C. but still some good ones from Chattanooga through Knoxville to points north headed up toward Lexington, KY.

It got better mileage with just my wife and I than when we loaded up the pre-ranger into the back seat for the return voyage. He drove his brothers Canyon down to Stewart so was not in there for half the trip.
Driving around Savannah with all four of us was no sweat
My only negative comment in general is the heavy over-laying of electronic controls of everything.
One example: TO redirect the air to just the upper dash outlets to blow on your face, you first need to go to the main menu, then select the climate page, then finally make a selection to redirect the air. Seems like a lot of work and time when you are not looking at the road ahead just to get a little air.
Then there's the gear shift. To go forward, you need to push a button on the side of the shifter then pull it back. (Pull back to go forward). To backup, you need to press the same button then push the handle forward (Forward to go backward)
Anyone else see that as counter intuitive?

So,I did some checking

Not a 3.4L...It has a 3.6L V6

It has AWD

It is a premium luxury edition.

These things should conspire to reduce fuel economy, so this little 300+HP AWD thing is getting great mileage for the size of the thing!

Learned this all today while decoding the VIN while finishing up the insurance thing with USAA

3.6 motor has been a staple in GM for most of my life, been a well proven motor and thankfully the dummy’s haven’t tried to twin turbo it and put it in the 1500’s like the id10ts over at f0rd

This particular 3.6 motor is pretty new. First came out in 2019. Our son's Canyon has one.
No exhaust manifold! Ports and manifold are all cast into the head with one big exit through a single hole about mid-head. 310 HP in this tune, 308 in the Chevy/GMC applications.
The nine speed makes it about perfect. Whereas with my suburban and its 4-speed, I am always waiting for it to shift with a big rpm change, in the Caddy you don't notice the shifting at all. Almost like those rubber-band transmissions

Great mileage there. Yeah you tell a programmer does the stuff, just like checkout at a store (how many times do you to approve the darn sale?)

3.4 was the standard for a long time (60 degree) other vs was the 4.3. I think this is based off the LS series now. And yes, they do have turbo trucks but IL4!

Agree

Interestingly, the base motor in this series Caddy is a turbo-4
