Do not get the GTR Ultra bulbs. They are stupid bright. However I have them in both the low and high beam on the bus with the all-on mod.
Check out morimoto 3.0. Really good. Just not as bright as the GTR Ultra

Shawn, entirely possible. I’m just making hyperbolic statements as more and more theft rings go pro and use reselling sites.
About to land in HRL. Up close and personal with the border crisis. Thank God it’s just a day trip. Hate not being armed while I’m here. Not even a blade since I didn’t check a bag.

My suggestion for Kat is a small 22 caliber pistol. Her chance of survival is 100%
As the bear approaches, she knee caps you with the 22 and she can easily escape…..

Well thats one more positive for wheelguns. You can get snake/rat shot rounds for it too.
I have a S&W 357 with a 4 inch barrel that I load snake shot and HPs in when I’m out and about in the woods.

I like that, and confess I have never used snake shot before out of a pistol.
Sadly, I looked at the CCI web page and they do not make it in the .44 magnum.
For a slight turn of the subject at hand, I received my first two boxes of .44 magnum (50) last night. One is the Magtech hollow points I picked up for breaking in the gun. Secondly was a box of bear loads which presented with a semi-copper jacket and a somewhat flattened lead nose. Looks to be made to go deeper into the animal in lieu of blossoming right away.
I think you shoot 44spl in the 44. I have them for mine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Well, I’ve weighed in on what I plan to get for my next bear country adventure (500 S&W)
However, if you go with the 629, I have one and have worked up a nice load for it. It’s 240gn at 1450 fps. A bit hot but it will get-r-dun
The G20, I have a 22# wolf spring, a KKM barrel (dont hot load a factory glock barrel, its not supported enough underneath and you can have a bulge or blowout). I have 200gn rounds loaded at 1350 FPS (which is the same ballistics as a .41mag revolver)
I can provide the recipe if you want to give them a whirl.
You know how to tell black bear from grizzly scat? Black bear scat has berries and seeds in it. Grizzly scat has bells and smells like pepper spray….

No need for outside cover as hot and (usually) dry it is. I cut wood 24 inches in length. Those racks are 10 ft long and about 5 ft or so of usable height for stacking. I burn about one rack a year so this years wood will be ready next year and then I can put up more wood for the following year.

Well done, JR. It’s getting the first few courses laid thats the hard part. Should be able to rock and roll from there…. Semi autos are fine and I hunt with them. Cycling a pump (slight rearward pressure on the slide during trigger pull) can be pretty quick and once you are empty, moving and tossing a round in the open port is much easier than trying to feed an auto.
In addition to the round selection issue Shawn mentioned.
I have quite a few 870s, from stock police models with extended tubes, to the tactical with the crenelated choke to my Wilson Combat 870, sprayed with backyard rattle can camo, ring sight and collapsible stock.
I have a Saiga or two but haven’t really taking a liking to them yet. The Benellis I have are for waterfowl hunting and there aint much sweeter than a Super Black Eagle with 3-1/2 magnum steel shot.
But in the end I think it’s like pistols or anything else, practice practice practice.
I’m reminded of that scene from Unforgiven where Eastwood lays quite a few people low with a side by side. Slow methodical and deliberate he reloaded and put some hurt on some people.
And my favorite scene where Hackman says “ you shot an unarmed man!” Eastwood retorts, “well he should have armed himself” “ and thats what he gets for decorating his saloon with my friend”

Well when it comes to self defense I’m not focused on inlays or noise. I want a supremely reliable weapon and the 870 IMO cannot be beat. Especially the one created for me by Wilson Combat
As much as I like the semis, when you run dry, the tactical reload on a pump is much faster and easier.
And yeah, I wouldn’t trade my Benelli for anything but it’s going to slay more ducks and geese long before it sees any tactical action.

Ahh…equivocation.
It’s either illegal or it’s not. Anyone who skipped the line should be deported and go to the back of the line.
Ronald Regan got screwed when he tried to make a deal for amnesty and it’s only gotten worse. Shut it down, expel all the illegal immigrants. Then we can talk about legal immigration with an eye towards “can you contribute more than you take”

I think they call that dustless blasting? I’m probably going to write the check to have this stuff blasted. Got off loaded and started breaking it down. Picked up a FB buy this evening. rear end and springs/shackles. That thing is a tank. It took 4 of us to get it in the truck. Just glad it wansnt when I had the 12 inch lift and 37s on it…still probably 43-45 inch tailgate height. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Just bought 4 welding stands to offload the frame from the trailer and start breaking it down for blasting.
It’s a marathon and not a sprint.
I may get it offloaded this weekend. Gotta paint my firewood rack and finish the farm table too.

Great question JR. I don’t remember why I used it on the first one, but its held up really well for 5 years so I’m using it again. Plus some of this metal was sitting on the metal rack for a few years and had some rust and I didn’t feel like using 100 flap discs and spending a week sanding all this down completely.

Sean, keep me honest here. I’m not articulating a ton with what little off roading this truck will see.
Fixed poly joints on the axle end Heim on the frame end The pinion and transmission angle should be the same 4 links should be equal length so the pinion angle does not change Axle at ride height should be in the center of the arc of travel or close as possible
Not sure on the vertical spacing on the upper and lower bars, but guessing its more of a whatever can fit (8-10 inches)
Length of the bars, longer the better within reason to keep the forward travel of the axle to a minimum during articulation. Probably more practical to be a bout 1/2 the length of the OEM leaf springs.
The a panhard bar parallel to the ground at ride height.

Their already boxed back to the bed, doing just the rear should be easy. 4 link rear, gonna wheel it?
Negative sir, only boxed to the firewall and a little where each of the crossmembers are for the bed. Zoom in on the picture. Nope, no wheeling. Just upgrading old technology as I don’t ever want to get rid of my non emissions truck. Well, unless that bad influence Shawn convinces me to SAS it with a SD Axle….. Well. Found a guy on FB that was parting out a cc/lb and decided if I was going to pull the front and and pull the motor I was only one step away from a frame off.
The front end on my truck is greasy from years of transmission line leaks and upper oil pan leaks and I was going to super clean it anyway
Which lead to the thought of just having a new frame and having it blasted and painted and start from scratch.
My plan is to box the entire frame from the front to the back in hopes of stiffening it.
I’ve secretly coveted the kelderman four link air ride but found they are no longer making it for the 2001-2010 frames.
No sure I have the fab skills for it but it I get a wild hair I may build my own which would be better welded than bolted on
I had also found a dually bed and rear end but they got sold so that’s off the table…for now
So in short I have a clean slate. We’ll see where it goes.

Thanks guys. Don, they sell these set ups (albeit a bit smaller) with linear bearings, stainless round railes and dust collection, but those were $800-$1000 and weren’t big enough for my use. Basic idea is to use a 2 inch flat router bit at a fixed height and remove material above that height.
I have $16 in those cheap roller bearings from HF.
Design set up execution and take down in less than 8 hours.
If I was doing this more often I’d invest in some additional bits, which I may later as I have some wide red oak slabs that are about 28 inches wide and 6 ft long that have been drying for 4 years. Haven’t decided what to with them yet, but I have proof of concept and can easily replicate as I kept the sled parts. Just have to make new rails.

And JR. CA just voted to allow 700,000 illegal immigrants to have free healthcare at a cost of 3.1B while having a budget deficit of $68B
Seems to make sense to me. I just hope my tax dollars don’t go to bail out poorly managed states. Texas has massive surpluses because we don’t spend what we don’t have.

So perhaps you guys might like my rednek engineering here. Making a farm table for the outdoor kitchen and using white oak beams from the ranch that have been milled and drying for 4 years. Of course some bowing and warping made them not sit flat when i put them on the base. No one had a planer that could handle these so after much consideration, I built a slab flattening jig with some 2x4 square tubing that I was going to build another firewood rack. Split a piece of 4x4 square tube, added ball rollers and connected those with angle for the router sled. 2 inch flattening bit and 4 passes later, I had taken 1/2 inch off in some places and nearly none in a few others and now it is perfectly flat.
