Pine needles make a mess and the wife won’t let me cut them down
They have guards on top so those needles just sit there and make stains
Entire exterior gets painted next spring. Wife is working with color designer for color pallet. That’s one where I’m going to stroke the check.

Fixed a side gate where the SxS is and moved the trailer. PGE is digging up the street for new gas lines.

Sounds like they are digging a hole you can put those foam filled tires in. Instead of burning them

Just for fun

Had some miss built kitchen cabinets that we are repurposing in the wood shop
Had the new guy build some drawer fronts, told him it was all his choice of what and how.  Go!

Well.  Some rough dawn poplar turned into a pretty decent set of drawer fronts

Poplar generally is an ugly wood, hard to color and stain. We use it for all of our painted cabinets parts. It works this time

Should they be out fixing the electrical transmission lines that cause all the fires?

Today drove back from Berlin, OH where we stayed the night and picked up our new puppy this morning. We purchased from an Amish family and a man named Jonathan.

We visited with them for awhile. Their lights were copper pipes coming down from the ceiling with lantern globes, or wicks or whatever you call them. Ya, no electricity, and just beautiful furniture and cabinetry inside. They were very nice, and now we have two bernadoodle doggies.

Her plan. is to let them propagate then sell off the pups!

And I figured out on the drive home that I actually own the male.

Ya know, stud fee!

I'll take pick of the litter. Now these things sell for a low of around $1800-$2000 upwards to around $5000 with the average coming in around $2500 each I'd say.

Think about it, this litter, a stroker short block, next litter compound turbos for the D-Max, litter after that, tree shears and a pressure washer...YIPPEE

Looks like I lost another hub on the Dmax, right one this time. Cheapo goes on tomorrow and save the good hubs for the lift.

What's the symptoms of a failing hub? Mine are all still OK at 109K and I replaced both in the Burb with Timken units...

I had that trailer of mine full to the top with logs, well overflowing actually. Today over five hours I split and stacked every last piece.

I haven't done that much work in one day since I can't remember when

I told my boys I was wasted and blasted

They told me that in today's terms, that meant I was both drunk and high!

How things do change!

I noticed a rubbing, tinny sound a couple days ago. Sounds like a heat shield rattling. Today I noticed the steering wheel was turned about 5-10* right when going straight so I loked at the front wheels and saw they actually noticeable toe in. Jacked up the front when I got home and there is a slop and a good "clicked" coming from the right hub.

I carry a spare hub and upper ball joint. Neither are hard to fix even on the road.

A proper lift sees little of this.

Walked into the restaurant to find 4-1/2 gallons of "super premium fryer oil" pooling on my floor. Did a deep clean of the fryer the night before and like an old transmission getting a flush, I found the leak in the form of a slow drip from the ball valve which was closed... most of the way. 50lbs of cat litter and some manual labor took care of the mess eventually, but not much fun prepping for a dinner service in that.

House finally got back to normal after a few days of toilets not working due to septic issues.  Had to get it pumped and then did some redneck hydrojetting to clear out the main line. Luckily we have a second septic system for the guest house, so it was like being at a campground and having to run out to the bathhouse. Replaced all the wax seals on th toilets as they were leaking when it all backed up. Basically a mess and am happy that is all Over and done.

Dang, that's a pretty "Schiffy" situation! sorry, I'm in Dad joke mode. Had a similar scenario back in winter 1997. super heavy rain storm, old concrete septic from the 70's and a cracked foundation wall from the 60's = 1/4 diameter stream of overflow from the blocked drain field filling my basement through the crack with around 4-6" of septic waste water. at 11:30 at night.

The first fall after we bought our house I had to dig up the outlet to our drain field.  The original septic to the house with clay pipes with a 6" access.  I rented a mini-x , dug it up, punched a 2' diameter hole in the top to replace the 6" clay riser with a new concrete riser.  Then had to go inside to repair the outlet pipe of the septic that had collapsed.  Took about 4 days total in 10F weather.

Got the hub off finally around 1800. 1 bolt was rounded and any of you who have done these know there is no give on these. Finally got it after grinding a X in it and using an air hammer.

Hub is not real bad, no slop but feels like there is no lube, metal on metal so it still gets a new one.

Did find the CV was making noise, happen to have a new one (napa) that is supposed to be better than OEM and a tad longer for lifts.

I’ve had my 75qt for about 5 years now and most of that time it’s been in the bed of my truck. (Secured with heavy chain and two master locks). I use the heck out of it and it’s holding up nicely.

I got an Orica cooler a few years back. They work great. I can fill it with frozen meat and a little dry ice. 100 degree heat in the back of the pickup. I checked it after 3 days. The top layer was just starting to get soft. They don't make good beer coolers. The ice don't last any longer than a regular cooler because you open and close it all day and its smaller inside so you get less in it.

Can't get ahead!

After spending part of the day at a wrestling meet with something like 20 schools, I came home to a broken dryer.

Plan for the day WAS to finally fix the brakes on the burb, then maybe cut in a latch or two on the camper doors.

But into the dryer I dive. It turns on, but won't actually start.

So, panel by panel the thing gradually gets reduced to a pile of parts.

I found a loose belt which was actually a belt nearly cut in half. After pulling the drum out of the unit I could see where the pulley on the motor broke apart, so I guess I need a new one of those along with another belt.

I'll update the rollers while I'm in there and I already cleaned it to like new, so maybe get another 12 years out of it

It's a Whirlpool duet front load.

Nice Jon, looks like and old Farmall.

So got the hub and a new CV on the drivers side. Hadn't lubed in a while so took care of that too.

There is a vibration when I start it coming from underneath. Kinda sounds like a heatshield and it gets no louder when running or revving a little. Almost sounds like in the trans area.

Right front axle seems to lock up like something is in the CV. Was free coming apart but I noticed when bolting the CV back on it wouldn't spin all the way around. Jacked is the same, left spins fine, axle seems to go into and out 4x easy enough.

Going to look it over tomorrow in the light, plus the rain has stopped.

??No-heat issue??

I'm going to fix this old one. Will only buy new if I can't fix it economically, say less than half price of a new unit

Common parts between many models, all parts readily available

New belt, rollers, and idler are less than $25

The pulley is not much

Worse case, a new motor is $224
