Head gaskets...

(1/1)

Flyin6:
For my 6.0 LQ4 engine build with 243 heads, which head gaskets should I be looking at?

The 243 heads bump my compression from 9.5 ish up to around 10.5. A milling of the head or the thinner head gaskets will push that to 10.7 or the combo of both to 11.0:1

I was thinking of the Cometic gaskets...

Because of the excellent chamber design of these LS motors the onset of detonation is somewhat delayed from what I understand. That means that my motor, a stock LQ4 runs 10:1 CR (I incorrectly called it a 9.5CR earlier) and eats 87 octane. A 10.7 motor will live on regular as well, but does become a tiny bit timing sensitive. You can run more advance with 93 octane and therefore extract more horses per stroke.
I plan to polish the combustion chambers to a mirror to hold off the demo demons as long as possible.
