Camper for off roading
« on: May 18, 2020, 09:00:00 AM »
Everyone and their distant third cousin knows I built an off road camper...whoopty-doo! Yea, it's Ok and will fit in the more adventuresome trails and trips I see in the immediate future. But looking down the road, I want something much more expedition like. My age, Expedition like = Comfort and if you can get it capability.

So I have gone round and round in my hear about how to address that. I quickly dismissed the travelling, semi-sized motor malls both class A and C. I was settling on a big boxy slide in like a Host or a Lance or an Eagle Cap with 2-3 slides and oh so comfy seats and a nice dry shower. Ya, just realized that too, dry--shower.So I found the largest Host at around 5,000 lbs, the Eagle Cap 1200 model of similar weight and way big, uber big dimensions to be to my liking. Then I imagine winching all that back upright whilst mounted to a new dually on an easy trail with an off camber and me starts to question the warrant officers thinkin' and reasonin'

And that's what led me to find this. Seems the aussies, a fun lovin' rough cut lot came up with this in the pic below. A hardened off road luxury camber with everything the old whirly-bird pilut likes. Cool part is they are imported from Australia into the US into a dealership in Denver, where we will be within a month visiting Shawn and his wunderbar clan. I thinks I'm going to stop in for a look see.

I think the d-max truck would be the designated tow vehicle for that

I started the conversation with HH6

She sez, "Lets get through this trip and see how we like this adventure stuff

Me: I see maybe 10 good years of doing this stuff before biology starts to weigh in heavily on my plans. Once all that starts, getting out will start to be a challenge

Short story: I think we need to get going on something like this sooner than later.

Gotta get you a 4x4 sprinter van camper. I seen one at a show this spring.  I'm 6ft tall and fit in the bed perfectly with room to spare.

Jon, You're missing the point. I want real off road capability. Class C stuff gets stuck on speed bumps.

No offense Don, but in 10 years I’m not sure you’ll be able to climb up into anything taller.

(Ill take the pink slip now)

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

He can’t fire you, you used the magic words “no offense”. It’s like after you insult someone and say just kidding or put a smiley face emoji they aren’t allowed to be upset.   :)
