I've got another complete lower and other misc parts waiting until i have the funds to put together a Mk12 Mod1 clone. That'll have to wait a while, that's about dead last on the priority list when allocating funds with wifey  ;D

« on: February 06, 2015, 02:12:14 PM »
Oooh i'll jump in on this one... Current favorite is either the Kona we drink on vacation or the Seattle's Best medium roast from the percolator in our travel trailer. Throw a little Bailey's in when camping, ooooweee YUM. Daily though, i'll drink whatever's available and/or free *takes sip from lukewarm leftovers* i prefer the medium/light roasts to the dark/bold, but i do like it strong.

Favorite stories... hmm well I didn't used to be a coffee drinker, at all. Not until my first all-nighter at work anyway, i drank a whole air pot to myself to stay awake and I've been a coffee drinker ever since. Straight black.

Another story was on one particularly long day at work, to lighten things up, my guys and I thought it would be a worthy experiment to brew a double batch... not just twice the grounds as you might guess, but we ran a whole batch of brewed coffee through again (where there would otherwise be water) in through a fresh batch of ground coffee. Let me just say i do not recommend this LOL. Wayyy too much caffeine.

This is exactly what i'm looking for (or GMC equivalent) in terms of colors and trim. Heck i'd buy this one if it had half the miles. 150k is just too much on a truck I want to keep for 10 yrs or more.

28.5 is the average of KBB and Nada. These are really hard to find with low miles and they know it. Talked to them today and they came down to 30 but that's it.

Yeah, the rust concern is there for me too. They're going to take underbody pics tomorrow.

There is nothing close to what I'm looking for near me. There IS a truck exactly like this close, but has 150k miles... Just too many given how long I want to keep this next truck.

A kodiak!! Man that's way overkill for what I need... can't afford it anyway  ;D

Been scouring the internet pretty hard over the last few days... found a couple I'm following up on. I did find one in Wisconsin. Supposedly a 1-owner local trade. Has a company rig that he drove too, so this one never saw the snow. Trying to see how much room they have on price. Obviously the brush guard would hit Craigslist Day 1 in my driveway, and wheels shortly after. But we'll see where this goes. Looks real clean. Does have a gooseneck ball, mildly concerned about that... although if it hasn't been tuned or lifted, prob wouldn't mind too much. These trucks were built to haul, after all.

« on: February 03, 2015, 11:20:50 PM »
Taxes have gone up on the "middle class" as well as the "rich"  They do it by loss of deductions many times.  Then the AMT is not indexed so many people lose their entire deduction strategy because the AMT kicks in.

I am really sweating our appointment with our accountant this year because of that...

coins of 1 oz each i assume?

We got a bunch of silver for our wedding, and it's nice having it in the safe. My brother in law deals with Northwest Territorial Mint, and is always recommending them FWIW. we're thinking of adding more non fiat as well, but until the house is built and closed, not going to make any major financial decisions.

thanks for sharing, and keep us updated on how it goes

That's what i'm thinking too... I am looking in Arizona pretty heavily, and of course CA/WA/OR. Would definitely be willing to fly and drive it home....

Looking for a Silver or Gray 06/07 GMC 2500HD CCSB with dark charcoal leather, that's stock, and has under 100k is going to be quite the challenge!

But I'm ready! Wish me luck. Next truck i want to keep for a long long time, so I'm being patient (and picky!).

Ok guys... talked to the guys at the lot with the truck in CT... was worried about rust, and he sent some pics. Haven't ever had to deal with under-body rust, does this look as bad as it, well, looks? Shoot me straight, ain't gonna hurt my feelings. To me, looks like a NO GO.

Dealer said "has minor surface rust"... looks to be a little more than minor to me.

An 06 LLY would be perfect... though I wouldn't shy away from an untuned LBZ either.

Nice lookin truck!

And yes, Seattle is actually now going to fine people for throwing away uneaten food... no joke.

Here's my LMM... for another day anyway.

Yep, wife and I are getting real close to starting construction on our new house (and shop!) soon, so lowering the payment is a good idea too.

I'm really trying to get into a pre-DPF truck also. If i was a betting man Inslee would have us all doing emissions inspections right quick first chance he gets...

Looking for a stock one  ;D

I'm looking everywhere... found one that's a real contender, but it's in Connecticut, and I'm in Washington state LOL. That's about as far from here as you can get.

However, I found a guy on DF that lives just a few mins from there and he's going to try to go look at it for me this weekend. Little worried about rust from road salt, so he's going to check it out. Has CEL on too, so will need to know what that's about.

Well guys, I'm selling my LMM tomorrow morning. Found a guy who is going to give me a good price, and he'll really enjoy it.

After it's gone, I'm going to look for a low mile LBZ or '06 LLY... basically the same as what I got, just older body style.

People think i'm crazy, but I just never fell in love with the truck. Kinda rushed into buying it, and after I got it had a few problems that i've never really got over mentally.

Anyway, wish me luck!

Finally! Link didn't work for me though...

Luckily I've been able to stock up on 22lr despite shortages.  Bought a case (5k rds) of CCI Std Vel about a year ago, and was able to pick up just shy of 2k CCI Mini-mags on a member night sale at my local outfitter.

Can't let there become a critical mass... as soon as fringe starts to become more mainstream, we got problems. Somebody posted a vid of that dude in the UK systematically taking over pockets of London and imposing Shariah law...

People mock Jesus, Christians pray for them.

People mock Mohammed, they get beheaded or shot.

Religion of peace, cool story bro.

They behead people in the squares in Mecca. Can you imagine if people were beheaded at the Vatican?

That pistol shelf is probably my favorite... i think especially for an area of the house that isn't by your weapons. i.e. i have a pistol in my nightstand, and shotgun standing in the corner, but in the rare chance i'm in a part of the rest of the house without a gun on my hip, it would be nice to have one closer... especially by the front door, mounted at 5 feet or so and out of the reach of kiddos

normally i see these and am like 'oh, neat' but i seriously am considering buying one of those picture shelf ones...

Acura MDX is what I've got my Mrs. in - big, good mileage for size and truly SAFE from crash standpoint.  No more pricey device wise and they last mechanically.  Luxury version of Honda Pilot too.

Not a bad choice for sure. My personal favorite, for fancy dancy, would be a Lexus GX460....v-8 power (LX if you wanna go crazy!). My second choice would be just a good ole Yukon or Tahoe (notice I didn't say Escalade?). They ride great and have plenty of power, and hold up decent in a crash.
Now, with the mrs being known for.....a.....well, not being a great driver, maybe a plain Honda or Toyota suv would be a better choice. I'm banking on the fact that Big D loves his family more than his fleet, so I would stick with the nicer, upper end choices, since they typically protect the passengers better with 6000 airbags, halon systems, and scuba gear (for unintentional river crossings). JMHO

I was literally just having this conversation with a family friend the other day... they were looking at getting a new kid hauler. They do well, so were looking at the Mercedes/BMW/Lexus... Personally I would go Toyota platform Lexus too of the luxuries.

However when it comes time to get a kid-hauler for my wife, it'll be a Tahoe LTZ (she drives an Acura TSX 4-banger now, we'll never get rid of it, it'll convert into my commuter. great car) We were looking at the GMC Acadia, which is one size smaller than the Yukon, but the mileage just isn't there just justify something other than a half ton chassis. Only 1-2 mpg better than the V8 Yukon. Would rather have the ability to tow a trailer/boat etc, than get 1-2 mpg better mileage.

Still no GUM!

I started chewing it when I was learning aerial refueling.

Well, if we're being honest... I've got another EDC that didn't make the picture that I'm not real proud of. Comes in a little round tin, and doesn't mix well with gum  :-[

Powerful story. Something i struggle with too... because you work hard, or have worked hard, for whatever amount of wealth you have, big or small, by using the talents and blessings God has given you. It's so tough not to get caught up in wondering if that 5, 20, 50 dollar bill is going to go directly down the burned end of a crack pipe, or will provide that breakfast and a bus ticket to a new beginning. You're also not trying to buy salvation for folks, but show them the grace and love of Jesus Christ through kindness and generosity.

2 Cor 9:6-7
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

For me, I tend to get a strong feeling one way or another, call it what you want, on whether to give to folks asking. Was driving to church Sunday morning a while back, pulled off the freeway and am at the light. Guy there with a sign, don't even remember what it said. I just remember looking in his eyes, and something told me the money in my wallet I had received the night before as a gift was meant for him. Told him God bless you, he said the same thing. He saw the numbers on the bill and the look of relief on his face was all the confirmation i needed. I dunno, I got real emotional about it, and I'm not normally an emotional dude. I think that was the Holy Spirit talking to me.

On the other hand, I've been darn near assaulted in downtown Seattle by people tweaking on one poison or another, demanding money. No sir/ma'am, no can do. Right or wrong, I don't know...
