Yeah, and you can see all that tough talk earlier about 4 on the floor is for naught. Mama relented, and with the baby now, she felt bad that he wasn’t getting as much love lol. I do have to say tho, he knows it’s a treat... when he hops on the couch, he’s super calm and relaxed. It’s like he knows if he misbehaves he’ll lose the privilege

Haven’t posted a picture of the beast in awhile. He’s 6 mos old now, and prob in the 65-70 lb range

Here he is snugglin up with mama and baby. He’s been great with the baby, has the protector instinct for sure.

The DECKED system itself weighs about 200 lbs. Its heavy duty plastic with steel structure. Each drawer can hold 200 lbs. the deck can support 1 ton.

And once assembled, one guy can probably remove and reinstall. It comes out in 2 halves after the drawers are removed. It’s designed to anchor to the factory tie downs in each corner with turnbuckles

Don I'm a big fan of Sherwin Williams Duration paint laid on with a sprayer.  Get a HVLP and just pop the top off the little opening in the 5 gal pail and drop the suction hose in.  Paint away!  That stuff is really tough.
That’s what our house and shop are covered with. I concur with Tex

Not much changed on the truck in forever, but with the baby now and a very large puppy... we decided to get a canopy on the truck. I ordered an A.R.E., and it should be here in a couple weeks. And because I had to ditch the tool box, i went ahead and ordered a DECKED storage system. Really excited for that, it's a really cool design. Was thinking of making something out of plywood and skateboard wheels, but wanted to keep weight down so just went ahead and bought the DECKED system. Will be a few weeks before it's all installed, but i'll post pics

Here's a photo of what the DECKED looks like

Purdy. Now set something hot on it to break it in.

Watched a guy build a steel workbench once. Soon as he was done he hit it with a ballpeen hammer, broke it in!!
Will probably be something wet rather than hot, or maybe something greasy... need to spend some time on my chainsaws.

Dawg do you have a biscuit joiner?  I don’t do as much woodwork as you but my biscuit joiner is indispensable for stuff like that.
I do not. It's on my list of wants... with about 1000 other things! The festool domino is slick, but damn expensive

When do we get to start sending you designs for stuff we want?
As soon as i get done building all the stuff that I want!!  :beercheers:

Fancy schmancy!
How's life with the wee babe?
Danke.

Baby is doing great. Her sleep patterns are all over the place, but she's a happy baby. Only really fusses when she's hungry, has to burp, or needs a new diaper.

I applied stain tonight. Clear coat will be Saturday

Note, the workbench island is only partially complete. There will be lots of shelves and cubbies under the work surface, just putting that part off for awhile. But I wanted to get the work surfaces done and finish applied so I’d stop being so paranoid about setting my beer down and getting a water ring on the wood lol

Small shop update. I decided to border my benches with some 1" oak to both cover the plywood edges, and also to give some hardwood strength to the edges

Countersunk all the screws and plugged the holes with oak dowel. (No pics of that yet) Will stain and seal later today

Weird to me how ISIS was claiming the attacks so hard right off the bat, saying this guy was a recent convert. Girlfriend in Philippines? What'd the note say?

If not that, possible motive of retribution for girlfriend getting deported, and target likely trump supporters. Thought I saw somewhere that he was registered democrat in Florida at one point.

Definitely weird. The public needs to see that note left behind.

And I read that apparently he was on Valium

Thanks guys. Praying for everything to go smoothly.

Doesn't help that i took a big tumble the other day and mangled a rib pretty bad in my mid back... but i will certainly be able to rally when the baby decides to join us.

Our family friends who are the breeders have also offered to take Mack for a big of a dog vacation while we are at the hospital and bringing the baby home, so he'll be there a week or so.

Small update, I went ahead and ordered some blast gates and picked up a bunch of PVC to install all the ducting for my big dust collector. Right now I've got dust collection to my miter station, table saw, and a 20' hose for cleanup. Stubbed future drops for planer, jointer, and maybe a downdraft table for sanding.

Oh and my dog is getting huge. 55lbs at 5mos

early on when I was supporting Cruz I realized that there was only one thing I absolutely had to have out of this election.  That was conservative justices on the supreme court.  Everything else would be gravy.

He's delivered so far with Gorsuch.  If we can get one more on the court, then I'll consider Trump a success.

That's my train of thought too... I just think there's potential for a lot more with house and senate majority, especially if he's such a good negotiator

McCain and Graham are the worst.... and the lyin share of the GOP are worthless. If that wall doesn't get built, you best be ready for Sanders/Warren 2020.

What happened to drain the swamp? Mmm hmm. Riiiight. If he was serious about draining the swamp he'd have launched a real investigation into 9/11 or a real investigation into the Clintons or or or or.....

One thing I wished I had done was get copies of all the blueprints from the builders when we've built over the years. Later when you need to add electrical plumbing or snake stuff between floors or open up a wall, it's nice to have those so you don't have to figure it out from memory or scratch

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

And go though the house and take TONS of pictures of the electrical, HVAC, and plumbing before your Insulation and drywall go up

I go back and reference my photos all the time, even when hanging stuff on the walls

Tapatalk won't charge to host... no sweat man. The only way we get charged is if you upload photos or videos directly to the site as attachments. Image hosting on Tapatalk is free.99

Edit: even loading images via attachments (a la Big D) is very minor cost, like fractions of a cent probably per photo... the huge resolution images and especially videos uploaded directly via the forum attachments are really all you should feel the need to be careful with. It's not a cost per photo type thing, it's cost per gigabyte of server capacity.

My personal recommendations... if posting from a cellphone or iPad, use Tapatalk, if posting from a computer use Imgur to host images, and if posting videos host on YouTube.

Tires, Wheels, and Suspension / Re: All Terrain Tires for the Duramax
« on: August 11, 2017, 11:35:50 AM »
Kyle I'm surprised at DT in your area.  Mine has always been awesome.  I even had michelin pilot sports on a benz that were $1600+ per set and in 2000 miles my alignment guy could not get the car to stop pulling left.  He thought it might have been a bad belt in the front tires and DT warrantied the 2 fronts at no costs.  It didn't fix it but they still took care of it.

I have a dozen stories like that, which is why I keep going back.
They're nice enough guys, but 6 times in a month to determine 2 tires are bad, replace them, and I still have to pay money is crap. I've prob burned a tank of diesel just driving back and forth. Not to mention the bozo that "re-balanced" them told me they were perfect, and when I called him out and said no way, it shakes like crazy, he punted and told me and it was the suspension. Which of course Schwabs laughed at when I took it down there.

I'm going back to the Toyo A/Tii or the new R/T next.

Well, only 2 were "bad", and so they won't warranty the other too. So it would have been 750 bucks to go to the BFGs or 650 to get into the Nittos. Not happening, so they're going to warranty the 2 ATPs for basically nothing. I've still got 14/32 tread, and the new ones are 17/32.

When these wear out, I'm going back to Toyos

Reviving an old thread to give an update... my Cooper ATPs are junk. Ken was right. They've been balanced 3 times in 2 weeks, still shakes like a b**** at 45-50mph. Finally the tech today said they're in balance, but appear to be out of round.

Luckily they've got a 55k mile warranty, so I'll get most of my money back.

Now, what to get to replace... my options at Discount Tire are really the Terra Grap G2 or the BFG KO2. Can't wait for a special order, have a big camping trip coming up and leaving this weekend. Leaning Nitto since it has a 50k mile warranty, no tread warranty on the BFGs. As soon as this next set wears out, I'm going back to Toyo, but can't do it now since DT doesn't carry them.

What do you guys think... Nitto over BFG?

Just got back from looking over a "Big Tex" 14,000 lb, 14 foot dump trailer.

I must say, those are impressive.

Quoted me $7,000 + tax

I wanted a solar charger, spare tire, ramps, and a pintle/lunette ring

 :likebutton:

Would highly recommend the roll up tarp cover too. We thought we could get away without it.... wrong. Just added it, worth every penny.
Dawg,

You and your dad have a Big Tex, right?

OK, well looking at some other brands I see some deficiencies with the BT trailer.

The BT 14K dumper only has two internal tie rings and they are in the back...???

Looking underneath the bed reinforcing seems all wrong. I mean the dump part main rails do not line up with the lower frame. The reinforcing longitudinal channels do not rest on the lower frame at all!!! What the heck is that about???

They use 10 gage, and I guess that is adequate, but barely. Kaufman trailers, for instance uses 3/16", like almost 30% thicker in the floor.

The sides of the BT trailer are nor reinforced in the middle with a longitudinal rib. Just sheet steel bottom to top. Others weld in a 3"-4" wide box channel half way up, vastly strengthening the sides.

I may be missing the point, but I am not seeing the best quality in the BT trailers by far.

Am I wrong or just expecting too much?

Oh no, you're probably right on. I'm not saying it's the best out there... thats just what we have. And I just linked to the Big Tex because I knew they had a 14k bumper pull that I had remembered seeing. We have a dealer in my hometown, Dad likes them, and the price was the biggest factor when we were looking. Like i think Shawn stated, Bri-Mar is better quality, and i think Load Trial is as well. Knowing that you're going to be hauling a lot of rock, I'd prob look for a better quality model with a scissor lift.
