Just heard back from the local shop, new pads, calipers, rotors installed for $500

All day long I don’t have to get on my hands and knees

Working on the wifes captiva. No brake lights. New switch, bulbs and fuses/relay seem good but nothing. Changing the switch was a joy,,,,,,,

It was the switch. My hands are not made to go in there, much less laying on the floor.

Got a new switch from amazon, wrong plug, but $10. Ordered from NAPA, $40 and verified the plug. Even bought a 7mm gearwrench to get in there, only real way.

Wrench is on the bolt (arrow), switch/sensor (star) is spring loaded so you need to hold it down as you tighten it and back the bolt off above the arrow to get the wrench in/out.

By the way, have been running a "bouncie" in her car for months now. Really works good. Uses wifi and just $8 a month.

I honestly think it’s my fault the one side locked up,  pretty sure my P brake was way to tight and I didn’t obviously grease my caliper bolts lol

But I worked a full day why someone else busted knuckles.   I didn’t have to retrieve parts from a store and I didn’t have to spend two hours in my garage changing brakes

I am ok with it

Decided to be lazy today and make pork belly burnt ends in the oven. There is a chance of rain, I ran out of gas for the propane smoker, and I don't feel like babysitting the stick burner.

Drove from central FL back to the Tuck

My buttox hurts!

Note to self: Do not take toyota 4-runners with a bunch of stuff and four adults on long drives and expect to get anywhere fast

That thing must have had power available as an option that I did not get

Power just isn't there at all. always down-shifting. I did however average over 20 for the combined trip, netting over 21 on the return run at 75 MPH

Plates are nice. But a IIIa soft armor is more concealable and useful IMO.  Places like bulletproof zone have a decent selection. Won’t stop a rifle round but up to and including 44mag. If you think you’ll face rifle rounds then you have to go plates.  Composite/ceramic curved operator cut multi strike rates get really expensive.  There are also plain ar500 steel in curved plates available cheap but they are HEAVY

Dave, the ceramic ones aren’t light either. If I was going to do it today I’d buy the ar500 units. I think they’ll stand up to more abuse in the long run. You’d have to assume if you need them you won’t be getting a replacement supply shipment like a military guy would get. My 2 cents and if you have a local army surplus they may have some (sapi plates milsurp) for sale if they know you. Vets returning from sand box would sometimes have them and sell them when they returned home. At least that’s what I was told......

Sean and TRN are point on. I wore a Level 3 vest and wore the plate under the armor. Idea is the round will bounce off the plate, sometimes right up at you. Wearing it under it has little chance of a ricochet back out or up.

There are soft and hard trauma plates. Remember that unless you are going full gusto, just cover the vitals. Last LEO lost here was shot in the back bent over, went under the back of the vest into the chest cavity.

Well today is my 30 th wedding anniversary. (To the same woman)

Had planned to be on the Dalmatian coast but COVID put a stop to that.

So. Got the missus a little bling, some bubbly and a prime filet. Gonna roast some Brussel spouts and a caprese salad with homegrown tomatoes. I plan to make a balsamic reduction to go with it and some Gorgonzola on the steaks

I was going to go ribeye for my steak but the NY Strips In the counter were so marbled they looked like wagyu so I went strip.

On my way to pick up the lumber package for the outdoor kitchen structure.  That 28ft LVL ridge beam should be fun to fit on the trailer.

No you didn’t Ken

Charles,  does that top hang over the truck bed? Or just shy.

My favorite I have seen leave the lumber yard is a guy with  micro lambs on trailer, end to end and on the tailgate. All strapped.  Wondered how the first right hand turn would work out for him

Also seen a whole deck of trex collapse a ladder rack on a truck.  All the material slid onto his hood and onto the ground.  Wrecked his truck hood pretty good

Dave the longerst is a 28ft LVL 1.75x14x28.  It was about 1ft shy of the bed and the trailer is 20ft of deck so it still hung off the back about 5 ft.

The other beams are 3.5X14 PSL. Two 24 footers and two 14 footers.

Reminds me of a little trail we had way back. It was child kidnapping case that was national. I was in charge of security for the trial.

Judge calls me in saying the perk had to be brought outside to view evidence (in a wheelchair?) I was to be in plain clothes so not to "upset the trial".

Judge told me, "I could take him out" and I said sure, judges order, right! He quickly said that is not what he meant, but we had a good laugh about it. Great judge, very pro LEO.

Found guilty, never got out of prison. Died of "natural causes" under the age of 50. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy and I said so.

Do you have to have a CDL in AZ to tow that?

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

I’m guessing those are 15k axles which in Texas would be CDL territory as we go by GwR not what it actually weighs

It wasn't a dig at Shawn. I was just referring to my other trailers.

I didn't go all in, mainly because I'm not ready for a dually yet. This one is 22,500gvw. 10k axles. Only 20' plus 5' dovetail... but the wedge ramps make it a useable 25 footer.

Local company has Kaufman build them to their specs and put their stickers on, and still a couple grand cheaper. It's basically a 26k trailer w/10k axles.

Funny you mention that Dave
