Yikes. Nate's not answering because he's probably out in the forest chopping down trees at the moment.

Half ton... Kbb is closer to $15k. Does look nice though. Never understood the purpose of that fat lip (bull bar) though.

He is that guy that guy who doesn’t need to sell it but figured why not see.  Works at my local GM dealership so he will probably get it sold on the lot.

Not today, but 20hrs worth of dirt work with the tractor and mini x.
Also built a rock screed.

Ken, I sure you factored for this.  It doesn’t look like you have enough material on top of the culvert to support an H1 load.  Isn’t there a label on the pipe that shows the depth of material required to meet spec?

You are correct Charles. I'm not done, just trying to prepare for this rain we're getting. That's where I ended the ditch a few months ago. Per county (and pipe company) 18" is the number. The dirt is crap, so I'm mixing gravel. The base at entrance is 12" of 4-6" rock, then dirt, then gravel. i had to drop the culverts 6" to lower overall height. Still going to be a hill tho.
We will eventually concrete the ends similar to what you did...matter of fact, I referenced your build to him.

Oh God don’t mention that concrete fiasco!  I get sore just thinking about it.

Just make sure your forms are well braced. One of mine blew out and it was a mess to fix.

Dusted off some perishable skills.  Ran 6 mags through the G17.  5 step draw and moving and shooting. In the el presidente I couldn’t bring myself to shoot the red plate as much as the others. Interesting that the left most plate saw more trigger milking than the others. Have to keep an eye on that in the future.  Was running slower than usual to reinforce sight alignment and trigger control.  Still got some decent double taps in and only missed 4 shots out of 102. Plates are 5-1/2x9 iirc.

Of course I was too dumb to put ear plugs in and now I’m dealing with ringing. Too lazy to walk back to the seacan

Charles, I hope the ringing lightens up for you, but...Don't be doing that again unless it happens quick with out time to get the ear protection. I have aids that might help or so I am told but not even close to natural hearing and the ringing is a bitch all the time.

Ken, it is better to have the culverts deeper to get the required cover than have the cover higher than the shoulder. The county or who ever will at some point grade the shoulders and the required cove will be gone. Reshape the ditch line a ways in either direction to get the cover needed. I saw that the rain was headed your way, hold on and be safe and hopefully it will pass with no damage.

Some fair shooting there. Put a H pic on them and it will be automatic!

I may have to get a 9mm just for practice. 40/45 is to pricey for plinking and I can finally qual with any auto I want vs the gun carried.

Thanks for being the voice of reason Bob.  I’m getting less stupid as I get older..

JR that all I keep the G17s around for.  They are Strictly for practice since I can run crappy wolf steel ammo cheap and they handle just like the G21 or G20

I used to shoot 1500 rounds of pistol a month but life got busy. I’m going to get back to it and try to shoot at least 500 a month

And,it’s tougher practicing alone, no,one to call colors or run the shot timer. Looking for some training tips/drills to run alone.

Thanks for the input Bob. I know you have the experience.
I'm going off engineered plans, dealing with only an 18" drop over roughly 300". I already lowered them 6" without making the ditch deeper , and hope it goes unnoticed. ... also, it's a private road... county said they only care about what's on the property. We couldn't change the water's entry or exit, but did go from 100" to 300" long, which gobbled up the little bit of grade I had to start with.
Oh, and I still need to haul in more fill to raise the banks of the ditch to match the drawings... and cfms.

Ken, I sure you factored for this.  It doesn’t look like you have enough material on top of the culvert to support an H1 load.  Isn’t there a label on the pipe that shows the depth of material required to meet spec?

At first I thought H1 was in reference to Hillary...

I started a men's health study today. It's through the University of Nebraska Medical Center. They are developing an app to track your calories. It's a pretty cool app. I just record what I eat. If I buy something like a chuckwagon sandwich and a Mountain Dew I can just scan the barcode.

Then they gave me a Nokia body composition Wi-Fi scale. Hooks into the app on my phone via Bluetooth. It tell you your weight obviously but your BMI, muscle%, weight trend, and the weather. That's kind of wierd but whatever. It's a 6 month study. Should be interesting.

Lol. Probably close to the same. I don’t remember the exact spec but it’s from rural farm road specs for heavy farm equipment. I want to say it was20k axle load.  I bet Norm remembers

Ahhhh, Gents - it is HARVEST SEASON after all, and he is actually a Farmer if I recall, so he's probably actually working his butt off and when he's free, tending to Miss K's list of chores to stay out of Marriage Jail!

Either that or he found a Delorian in one of those sheds right next to a Flux-Capacitor and is busy working to reverse Ken's choice of girlfriends and the entire Obama era. (We can dream can't we?)

Yea You would have to cold smoke it first. I think some people can cooked chicken but I never have. I like to cold pack it raw. It cooks in the jar during the canning process.

This is basically the same way I do it.

I stopped on my way in to work today and read an off-road magazine to SquareD. It looked really lonely in the parking lot, plus I’ve read research where people in comas can hear and remember what was said to them so I figured it was worth a try.

Hi saw this while driving down interstate 75 today. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe it is the new joint light tactical vehicle.  Looks like it might have a pretty soft suspension judging by how much they have a current down, but I could be wrong.

Heavy is the word

By the time they acquit those things with the required protection and armor, they can barely move. And sink on asphalt roads and fields like they are in quicksand.

I don't like them much.

Went deer scouting today and found this little guy...a desert tortoise... only the second live one I've ever seen. He was attacked by a coyote last night (I tracked him out).
The second pic looks interesting.. bumper pull for sale. Might buy it for Idaho since it's set up for snow load. Lol
... also found a fresh fault in the desert. It's only 10' deep now, since it rained quite a bit in that area and filled it in with sediment, but it's about 1/4 mile long.

I guess "fissure" would be the proper word....
It's because we've pumped out so much ground water in our valley over the years. The valley drops, then the cracks form at the base of our small mountain ranges around the valley. This one is towards Marana.
Remember seeing the town of Eloy when you were flying around down here? It has dropped 20+ feet in elevation in the last 50 years.

Yea, I know that area. I flew around Marana so much and so many times...Jump school for some folks. But spent most of the time at 14,000, stable and 100 KIAS...Jumpers on the ramp...Jumpers away...Clear to descend...

I never mentioned this, but a couple months ago Scout bit my youngest grand daughter in her face. It was awful. She needed surgery right away, but got away with 40 stitches. Believe me it was a terrible thing. The next day I took Scout to Animal control. They evaluated the dog and told us he was dangerous. Further they were not willing to release him to any family anywhere. He was put down after 10 days.
You may recall I was a bit quiet on the forum
It was a bad and trying time. Kat wanted to do something to help me deal with the bite and losing my friend. Scout. So she went on this fanatical search for the perfect, family oriented, and safe, companion dog. She came up with the Bernese Mountain Dog from Switzerland. She located a litter and the rest is history.
