Title: My lovely PR280 (aka my road in and out of the sticks)
Post by: Sammconn on June 13, 2016, 09:30:56 PM
So while I was coming home last week snapped a few pics of the 'road' I travel.
It is our only way in and out of the place I call home by vehicle.
With a few large hydroelectric projects on the go, heavy truck traffic has increased exponentially.
As our only road, there are no load restrictions in the spring thaw which just aggrevates a poor road.

This isn't even as bad as it has been. This was after a few days of sun and no rain.

A few more...

This was about the condition of most of the first 100 odd miles. The it was better, albeit not a lot when you can set the bar this low.

They are working on it though, and 15 miles was like this...

Now if they could only make the rest the same!

Hard to keep a nice looking truck when you have to travel all of that.

It would be hard to keep a truck, period!

Those are what add up to be a harsh life

And in the case of Sam's truck, a pretty decent testimony to the quality of the thing!

looks nice and quiet....but I'm guessing it would beat a truck pretty good day in and day out.

It's definitely hard on equipment.
It's not always this bad either, but spring is always the worst.

This is part of the reason I've stuck with OEM wheels and not lifted.
These trucks seem to really beat out the front ends with anything else.
Case in point, I'm approaching 220k miles and am in need of front end repair #2.
I know of guys that can't get 50k out of front ends with different wheels and lifts etc.

Having said all this, it also causes a guy like me to stay on top of everything as well.
Just can't wait for it to dry up some, and then at least the two foot deep wheel ruts and holes will hopefully disappear.

I don't think it looks all that bad. I am sure there a few spots though.

Glancing through your pic links I see your garage is filled well, as well as the "black toy". Are those allowed for the general public up there.

Yes we can have our black guns.

Err, "assault rifles" I believe 'they' are trying to make them out to be.

Very restricted in their use however.
The government classes them as restricted weapons.
So, once you have an ATT (authorization to transport) you can take it to your range that is certified for target practice, or to a gunsmith for work, basically. Same for the handguns.

Then we have out ludicrous magazine restrictions of 5 whole rounds for these assault rifles, and 10 whole rounds for handguns.

Yeah stupid, and yet my guns have never hurt anyone either.

Yeah but there probably aren't many gay nightclubs where you are and that is the unknown ingredient that may cause your weapons to act out on their own

That pic looks like a lot more than 5 to me.

I think my BG could find a much larger than 30 rounder if it ever had its mind to do something.

On the 5...they are standard capacity mags 'pinned' to 5 rounds with a three cent pop rivet.
I do t think I need say any more...

Charles you may be right about the need for such an establishment.
But my 12 gauge is always loaded, always...
Been left for months on end like that too, and has never fired a round let alone hurt anyone.
But we all know that it's the guns that kill...
