Title: In this thread we post good music.
Post by: husker77c on July 28, 2015, 06:53:53 AM
So we don't have a music thread that I've seen.  What are you guys listening to or what are some of your favorite songs, bands, albums, or concert stories?

Since I moved to TX I've been heavy into the red dirt/ Texas country scene.

One of my favorites

Great song but I don't like how hey ended the video.

How do we imbed a video?

Johnny Cash, Willie, Waylon , Toby Keith. Ray Wiley Hubbard although I was a child of seventies rock which is now country music.  Skynyrd, Hatchet, BB King.  I roll the eighties rock too.

You can't. Not supported unfortunately. Hyperlinking is best.

I would ask that we don't get in the habit of uploading full videos to the site, but rather use hosting services like YouTube.

Oh, my favorite band... Old Crow Medicine Show!

We listen to most anything around here. If in the shop, I often have the radio tuned to a classic rock station that's pretty decent.

Often times in the house my wife has the player piano belting out something or another. She has a extensive collection of rolls, so it could be almost anything. From rag music to the classics to hymns, you name it.

My wife is an accomplished sax player, so it's not unusual when she's in the mood, to have my own personal Sax player who takes requests. Also since she tutors college kids with music majors, often on sax and piano, it can get loud round here LoL Recently she's been tuning up a few horns, as she has a studio gig in Chicago again in August.

I do have a declared 4am-10am no music allowed time frame. That way I can listen to the song birds and nature in general.

I'm all over the place with music from country (waylon, willie, johnny cash, David Allen coe) to southern rock (hatchet, skynyrd, blackfoot) to harder rock (metallica, ozzy, van halen) to classical (mozart, beethoven). I am eclectic with music. But no rap ever. Well...some kid rock is good but not the stuff I hear blasting from some cars when I am in the city.

I saw kid rock years ago at a rock fest and it was a phenomenal show. On the second song of their set his lead guitar player was jumping around and blew out his knee.  The lead guitarist from Buck Cherry came out and finished the set with them.  They played a bunch of classic rock and basically had a jam session.  Kid rock played every instrument on the stage at various points in the show.

I've seen Jars of Clay twice.  They had that radio hit Flood back when I was in college and I was dating a girl who Turned me onto them.  She turned me onto Love Song for a Savior.

I worked at a car stereo shop right after I left college. Best job I ever had if we weren't talking cars or stereos we were talking about music.  To bad I only made 17k the full year I worked there, full time. I'm just not a very good commission sales person haha.  Music is the soundtrack of our lives.  I listen to absolutely everything.  I went to a really small school growing up and we were fortunate enough to be able to do all the activities we wanted.  I played sports and was able to play trumpet in the band and sing choir.  I still try to play the guitar but it's a depreciating skill and I don't have the time to dedicate like I used to.  Been trying to teach myself piano but once again time and space.  Not much room for a piano in a fifth wheel camper.

My wife and I recently saw Big n Rich at a small country fair. Not the first time we have seen them, but the first time we have seen them in a very laid back setting. It was even more enjoyable than a fancy show.

In these parts street or barn dances are a huge deal. Those are about my favorite venue because it's just really relaxed and there is lots of dancing. So for me often times it's more the setting than the actual music.

I'm a huge Toby Keith fan (his music, not politics ). The coolest thing was an event we sponsored Toby flew in and played an acoustic set in front of about 100 people.  Then W was interviewed by Jim Nance on stage afterwards.  No photos no video. Completely off the record.

Have you heard Willie Nelson, "aint going up there"??

Texas RN that sounds like a very cool event. Jim Nance has been friends of the Bush family for quite  while IIRC.

Lots of great music on here.
Johnny Cash is one of my favorites, but we really enjoy Jason Aldean and other recent country artists. I guess I'm getting older because I listen to talk radio about 1/2 the time though.
That being said, I'd give my pinkie toe to go to that acoustic Toby Keith concert and then meet W.

I like almost any kind of music. Rap isn't considered music right? I like CCR to Andrea Boccelli. Depends on the day and time.

I don't seem to go to any concerts now because of the crowds. Too many knuckleheads in one place at one time. My favorite concert was way back. Merle Haggard at the Red Rock Amphitheater in Colorado. Small laid back crowd.  :)

here is (in my opinion) a GREAT remake of a classic song.  I also believe the video is pretty fitting.

Love that. They didn't do a bad job on "Land of Confusion" either.
