Don, prayers on the way. I know you probably have a good support group of your own between church and other family, but let me know if you need anything that I can help with.

Don, I'm sure you have it under control.  Just make sure they have an ID (infectious disease) guy running shotgun on your son. MRSA is nothing to jack with.  I had sepsis with staff years ago. 105 fever and 70/30 BP.  One day over a beverage I can tell you about how the rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated...
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

OK, back in from the hospital. I am coming home at nights, wife has stayed there since Thursday.

So he has turned the corner! The culture came back positive for MRSA so they got real serious. They place drops of various antibiotics onto the living culture pulled right out of the wound, and two killed it. So he has been getting that mis intravenously every six hours. When I left tonight, the swelling was way down and the redness down from nearly a whole leg to the size of an orange. The hole in his leg is sizeable, about 1/2" across and way deep, but that is allowing the infection to weep out.

He has no fever and best of all, they cancelled the surgery. We did have an MRI and the puss pockets were not there where they thought, so no real reason to cut any more.

The kid will hopefully be coming home tomorrow or Monday

Praise God!

Well my oldest daughter had dance competition yesterday and they crushed it. All 3 of their routines placed 1st.

Today I had breakfast and then brought them home breakfast since everyone else slept until 11

Then I finished the hardie and caulked and then put the insulation and Sheetrock and first coat of mud. Did I mention I hate Sheetrock and mud??

Hauled a truck to get repairs for one of the local volunteer fire departments. We got about 6 inches of snow  overnight. The geese like it but the chickens looked outside and turned right around. Nope not going outside today.
Picked up a tractor and baler the other day at an auction. Been doing some maintenance on that. Fixing some lights and oil change and so on.
All the area schools cancelled school so we all took a snow day too. We loaded the feed wagon last night so all I had to do was jump in the tractor (parked a whole 50 yards from my house) and go feed. Took me about 15 minutes.  Now lazy day. Watching some things we want on the Big Iron internet auction and doing research and buy parts off Amazon for the Toter project.

Lower, and larger air handler fan burned up last night!

And after tearing apart the unit, I discovered it really did burn up! There were blackened streaks going up for some distance. Wires all charred, motor blackened and stanky...

So where I thought I was building a Suburban suspension today, I got to re build the fan scroll unit. One thing I did learn was that the previous service man had installed a 3/4 HP motor. The motor guys I consulted today (best in Cincy) said the motor was way overpowered for the size blower I have. They reinstalled a 1/2 HP motor and did a nice job doing it!

Back downstairs to bolt that back in...I'm tired of being cold!

Had a buddy and his girls over tonight for dinner, figured it’s cold out. Might as well let him park In the warm garage and use the non iced porch.

This is why I built my garage the way I did.

I can easily fit four vehicles in the garage and have access to three

We had two full size trucks and mommas suburban and my Jetta plus the loads of useless junk

Thought mama was going to park in the little garage?

My oldest takes her driving test in the AM.

If she gets it (some reservations) she was supposed to help getting the others to school. Now she says she wants to go so early to park, the others can't be driven by her. Will be addressed as if I am paying for insurance and reg, she will help.

Took the boys up to the snow today. They closed 80 when we were between ramps (CA drivers) so we sat there for an hour. Finally turned around and found a couple spots near Alta. Had a little dinner at Carls JR and went to Bass Pro for an hour or so.

Nice garage Dave.. being heated is a luxury for sure!

JR... I grew up in Colorado and when I moved to Los Angeles area I had never heard the phrase "go to the snow" before! LOL It always came to you.

It came to MN in spades lately. Was out plowing another 7 inches last night. Running out of places to put it.

Also a video of the Lab out doing her business hopping over the snow. A couple of days ago I took the snow blower and clear paths for her to walk and a large area so she wasn't squatting down in the snow. I know... wussy indoor dog! LOL

if you can, rent a car and go see hoover damn, or you could make a trip just a little further south to Laughlin, nv and meet up with bob.

if you do go to hoover damn, make sure that you stop at fox smokehouse in boulder city.  their 3 meat combo plate is a healthy serving and low $$$, also their beans are GGOOOOOOODDDDDDD!

if you cant/don't want to rent a car, I believe that the hotel should have a travel desk (or something like that) that could get something booked for you as far as a trip to hoover damn?

Thanks Nate.
We did Hoover and Grand Canyon a few summers ago.
Not a good time for me to be here then. Was wicked hot, mid August.

We’re only here a couple nights too so limited to what we’re actually doing.

Knocked the old pole down. It didn't have much life left in it.
Luckily backfilled the trench before the rain came, but it turned into 3' of mud... I almost lost myself in it. ... right after, someone named Nate texted me. Rollseyes

That does look good.  It is on my to-do list to make up a pot of "real" chili at some point this winter.  Usually we just dump a few cans of various tomatoes and bean products into a pot for a quick chili.

That right there looks awesome.
Where can I get my bowl.
One of my guys at work made some likely along the same lines.
‘Normal folks’ used it as dip on nacho chips, I ate three bowls.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Luckily backfilled the trench before the rain came, but it turned into 3' of mud... I almost lost myself in it. ... right after, someone named Nate texted me. Rollseyes

mother nature is just getting you prepared for what you will have to deal with up in Idaho...glad you didn't get washed away down there.  speaking of, wyorunner told me that they got like 5 inches down his way and shut down ft. Huachuca....lol
