Firearms / .277 Fury

The US Army's new round: The .277 Fury (6.8mm)

The Army will be converting to this new rifle, The M7 and a much, much more powerful round in the coming years. The Marine Corps will catch up as well in time, and hopefully as one of our premier fighting forces, not all that long!

This thing is violent. More than doubles (triples??) the effectiveness of our current 5.56mm. Shooting a 100+ Grain slug at over 3,000 feet per second it has all sorts of new technology. First, the standard round is a solid copper bullet, Other versions will penetrate armor or have tracer elements.

The weapon's effectiveness easily extends to 600-700 meters dwarfing the short range of the tiny 5.56mm round. It more or less destroys a human body that is not protected by armor. I see very little chance of surviving being shot with such a round. This thing looks more like a magnum than something like the .308 which I believe it outperforms.

This is nothing short of deadly. As a veteran and soldier, I have mixed emotions about such a weapon, but in the end, should the enemies of America threaten our way of life, then they have brought it's use upon themselves.

I agree it doesn’t compliment the front of that truck very well. Big in wrong places etc, try buckstop.com in the future. Get it bare and have it zinc and powdered locally is my suggestion.
Buckstop...I'll have a look-see

I went with this because there was a good lead time for everything else. I recall looking at Buckstop but didn't like the steel tread pattern of the sheet stock.

I know the one I want, but it had a 6-8 week lead time and was twice the cost

So what did I learn? You do not settle, but wait for what you really want. Now the bumper I cost will cost me $4500 considering what I paid for this monstrosity.

Did I mention I am just sick about this decision???

The plastic air direction on the underside of your roof top unit is super nice compared to the older units with 1” foam for air flow direction

It is high clearance and sems to be well designed.
I have read that these new Dometic heat pump units are a departure from the older AC units that were noisy and vibrated. Sure enough, it is quieter, although you can still hear it. More like a humm than that whirling fan motor sound I was used to in my other camper.
And
It has a selection for HEAT!

I'm sick to my stomach over installing this bumper onto my cool truck. What a mess...

I'll have to take it off and bolt on something that doesn't make me feel like I just voted for Joe Biden.

oh, the misery...

The boys and I are off on our guys trip to Florida. My brother's kid is graduating from high school in Clearwater. My nephew decided to come along. Had a little accident hooking up the trailer. The jaws appeared to be latched so I went ahead and ran the jacks up before I did the tug test. They were not latched. Ripped the plug out, smashed the cord and destroyed the spar tire carrier. A couple hours later we were on the road. Got really lucky there wasn't more damage.
