12 hours of bush-hogging 30+ acres and clearing the sides of the fields...In good shape now, but the little 2720 Deere crapped the bed again. Had to haul it to the dealer A G A I N...

My nephew and I built a pick up box trailer today. We pulled the cab off an 89 chevy truck yesterday. This morning we pulled the drive train. Cut the frame off right behind the front suspension. Then notched the frame rails by the box and pulled them in to a point. Welded in some 2 in square tubing and put a ball hitch on the end. I didn't even think about taking pictures. I have built 4 or 5 of them in the past few years.

Don't see a pick?? They are easy, built one way back in the 80's. We used the front spindles though vs the rear axle.

I think it’s a Tapatalk think. Some pics on a different forum weren’t showing earlier today but I was able to see them on web view.

Edit: never mind, they don’t show up on the web either. Not from an iPhone anyway.

Oh look they finally showed up. I use mine for firewood mostly. So I don't bang the box in my good truck. My Nephew is taking this one home. Needs safety chains yet and some lights. When he is older he is going to want a jack.

Well. Plane delayed 5 hours last night. Then there were 2 freeway closures and a major accident on the way home. By the time I got home and got to bed it was 2 am.

Now it’s time to pick up the Dually from the shop where the stone shield on the rear fender was being replaced

I attended a friends funeral yesterday. I have not been to military funeral in some time. I was blown away by the legion riders. They lined the sidewalk in front of the church and then lined the road at the cemetery. His daughter recently retired Navy in uniform standing at attention at his grave. There was not a dry eye when she took the flag off her father's coffin, folded it and presented it to her mother. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.

Too many times, for sure Nate.

So I’m trying to get things wrapped up at the weekend place before we head out to Memphis to visit the in laws tomorrow.

Got up early to mow and trim. Got almost done and was mowing around the pond and ....you guessed it. Put the new zero turn in the water. Not just in the water but it was steep and the mower slid all the way to the bottom in the middle of the pond. As I swam away from it I was watching the bubbles move further out and settle right near the middle of the pond. At least I hit the switch and killed it before it went under.

I had to float an inflatable to the middle of the pond and then dive to find it. It was in about 10 ft of water. Got a rope on the front wheel on the first try and pulled it out with the tractor. It looked like a dredge. Got it hosed off and took it to the dealer.    Called the insurance company so we’ll see if they’ll cover acts of stupidity

At least my phone in my pocket didn’t get ruined.

:facepalm

That’s rough Tex. Seems like I read mention of someone here do that once already? Friend of mine put a set of mud tires from a lifted golf cart on his zero turn because of a similar situation and he loves them.

I wish I had gotten it in video. Once it started sliding it just wouldn’t stop. I cut it off and stayed with it until I was in 6 ft of water then I could only see the bubbles. Yeah. We’ll see what the insurance company says. It only has 25 hours on it so perhaps they’ll just buy me a new one.

Yes Ken. Twice. I come to the forum to humble myself.

My wife and I had a good laugh about it.  She left to go get eggs this morning and comes back to me diving in the pond.

I may need to put a K rail around the pond.....

We lined ours with rip rap (large chunks of limestone), your mower will stop skidding when it’s runs into that. Cheaper and easier in long run than turning mower into submarine.

They both need driving cameras also so we can see the fun.

TEX, has apparently read Nate’s new tag line......”Bourbon for those things I cannot!”  I’m venturing a guess that the poolside photo was of your second serving of said libation?

Just a suggestion Charles, but they do sell these things called string trimmers that might be better suited for the edge of the pond moving forward.

Big pneumatic floating beach tires should work pretty well.  Pretty good for nice grass too!

Speaking of the beach, we just returned from almost a week camping on St. George Island in Eastpoint, Fl.  When I tell you mosquitos were taking over there like an open border...holy smokes!  I have never even been ate up like that.  Our camping buddies just got back to the Okeefenokee Swamp and they said that was nothing compared to this.  Both my wife and 4yo daughter have welps all over even still. Me, well Im too sour anyway so they dont bother me much.  But I also made sure I was hydrated well with rum and whiskey as a precaution.  Figured mosquitoes wouldn’t like that to much.

Needless to say, I got some new toys from a local ACE Hardware including a camp stove gas powered mosquito smoker outer and a bunch of spray you use with a water hose.  Worked pretty well.  Did look like our camper was inside a cloud for a while but hey.  It’s solved the problem about 99%.

“Bourbon for those things I cannot!”  I’m venturing a guess that the poolside photo was of your second serving of said libation

Maybe....third

:facepalm

Isn't jack whiskey?

If it hasn’t been aged for a minimum of 2 years it is not a bourbon by US law.

Bourbon is done in new barrels versus whiskey which can be made in used ones. Jack is whiskey by my understanding, something like 90% of bourbons though are in fact produced in the tuck.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.
