Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkDOT alert....I'm going to pretend that I'm smart, and that I'm Phil for a moment....a famous rocket scientist. If we take the distance to Mars which is 34,000,000 miles (rounding numbers here) and divide that by the speed of the craft in the video, of 63,000mph, we come up with roughly 540 hrs, divided by 24 hrs in a day, and we come up with approximately 24 1/2 days travel time. ya might wanna take something to read :)
Well, you are not taking into account a few things. First it will take a little time to accelerate to 63000mph. And then a little ways out you have to start braking so you don't go flying past your target. Lastly there is this thing called orbital mechanics, so every two years we are closest to Mars so in ideal conditions 80 to 90 days. And remember this is if you are burning fuel the whole way otherwise it's a nice 9 month journey!!!
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb. I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.
Not much mystery with me, just a semi-educated red neck that made it thru the third grade. I try to never forget how far we have come with technology and always try to learn from the failures. Someday I might have to go back to pulling a plow with a horse, but I need to remember/know how to make the iron/steel/bronze to make the plow. As a society we can regress real fast and so much basic knowledge is not taught now, I’m not one of the doom and gloom people but I try to be prepared.
