So long story short, my dear misses wiped out this morning on our driveway.
Verdict, she's being medivaced out to the city to see an orthopaedic surgeon in the morning.
At least the fibula is broken, and the doc here, to my happiness wanted another opinion, not just set it and forget it. We're not sure if that will be the end result, or if it will be surgery, but we'll find out tomorrow I guess.
She's good, just real upset with herself tonight.
Mukluck boots without rubber sole plus snow and ice equals trouble.
Lesson learned the hard way.
Thanks guys.

Will do boss!
-
Done, take good care of her.....

Done.
-
Ouch!
Literally!
Father God come to mend these broken bones and to mediate the pain. Allow for a quick recovery with no residual effects. Guide the Doctors to discover all that may be injured so they will know best what to do. We thank you Father God, through Jesus we ask, Amen!
That should do it! :)

Done. Please keep us updated. Thanks for allowing me to be part of this.

Sorry to hear that Sam. Not fun at all. God bless and a speedy recovery.
-
I am very sorry to hear that. Kudo's to the doc for wanting a second opinion if he was in over his head. A lot of Doc's don't have that sense that someone else may know more than they do. Prayers sent for her recovery.

Thanks guys.
So a little update.
She was flown out this morning.
No appointment, was seen by no less than three(I think) different docs/surgeons.
At noon-ish was being scheduled for surgery.
They put on a cast and X-rayed to check it out, and liked all the alignment.
Currently she is back on the commercial flight home.
ETA approximately 1800 hrs.
What a whirlwind couple days it's been for us, and her more so than me.

what is it with you guys and banging up your legs? glad to here things seem to be going along smoothly.
-
Great news! So, I don't understand...Did she have surgery? Or did they just cast it up? Either way, poor girl is still a hurting unit. Prayers...
-
No surgery, just cast it up and verified alignment.

Absolutely! Now it gets better.
The flight nurse that went out is on a rotating schedule.
His normal job is in the emergency department at the hospital they ended up at.
He spent the entire day with her, every 20-30 minutes seeing what was going on, etc.
then went out of his way too her down to X-ray at the end and back to airport!
Feeling pretty blessed with how the day turned out.

It's awesome to find doctors and nurses who really care. Good luck with the recovery!
-
Great. A little late seeing this but like the outcome.

sam,
can you give us a little update on this situation please?
-
I have an idea...a prayer request thread. Just make a request there, and I'll take it with me to church or include it in prayer time. I pray for all of you from time to time and I know you all lift me up as well. But we all know that certain person. So here in the faith section, a "Prayer line if you will."
We have Sam's wife and Miss Kay from Norm fame recently, any others??
Over to the new thread...

Thanks for everything guys. I like your idea Don.
So a little update.
The plaster cast is gone, it did what it needed and the bone is healing well.
It was an ugly little diagonal break, about an inch above the ankle.
Connie is now sporting a removable plastic boot, and was given the go ahead to start using her leg again. Not all the way out of the woods, but darned close now.
-
That is really great news (all things considered). Hopeful prayers for continued recovery!

Answered prayers
Praise Jesus Praise Father God for healing and loving us
Great news
Snow boarding pics coming I assume? ;)
-
So Connie met with the ortho surgeon again today.
He says her leg is all healed up and good to go.
Well slowly. Boot off at home and night time, one to two weeks and then done for good. She is to start walking without the boot at home and get the strength back.
Thanks all for the prayers.
-
Than is wonderful news! Hallelujah!
-
Great news!

Great news! I broke my fibula several years ago, but it was a pretty nasty spiral requiring surgery and a titanium plate. Worst part was a tornado came through 3 days later and we were without power for a few weeks. Over a month before I could get surgery, and 3 months in a boot! Glad Connie's situation was much simpler!
-
Wonderful news. Wonder how long my recovery will take,,,,
-
Sam
That was a praise report!
OK you can take your Mrs off the prayer list when you feel she is good enough
Your call
-
Well, I think we can pull the boss off the list now.
She's doing great considering. Hobbling along quite well, the boot is a bit tall for her shoes but she's dealing well.
Currently she's waiting to board the several flights to Ireland. School trip that she'd comitted to last year, so in true trooper form she'll soldier on through it.
Thanks everyone once again!
God bless.

Outstanding news! She'll love Ireland. Great people!
