I feel like it’s now or never if the Republic is to continue. What that means…is to be interpreted by the individual.

Nice!  This is what I carry. I highly suggest a TLR6 light/laser combo. The fit and finish is great. I got mine from Tacticalgear.com for $100.

Also WeThePeople holsters makes a kydex for the combo.

Zombie apocalypse is in the works!!

All joking aside, (kind of). I knew this was a mess up. Originally I figured it was a media tool used to quash the rioting against the communist gov.  But as we all know sometimes things aren’t what they seem-or are they?  Is it really that simple, Im not so sure.

Id like to be in the situation room with Trump as he is briefed on this.

It’s incredibly clear how much the left depends on the fact that most people dont do their own research and take information for face value. That tells me all I need to know about the party.  They have absolutely no factual responses or solutions for anything.  Their only power comes from being elected by people who are sheep and wont ask questions.  Almost mind boggling.

Well said Don, I certainly feel this is a step in my life in which I am being challenged to grow.  I accept it.  This is something we will do together and I know we will ultimately come out better for it.  This situation reads exactly like many stories I have heard before~ When you are at your lowest and with no direction, God will still be there, trust in him and the truth and the way will be revealed.  I will be honest, I am excited about our journey.  I am looking forward to the places it takes us and power we will realize we have, together.

Thank you for the Prayers.

Bear I have heard about DateBox, I remember seeing something about it and thought it was a good idea.  I just forgot about it until now.  Im going to look into it and some other activities to do together-without phones and social media, but outdoors and active.

Guys, thank you for taking the time out of your day to respond to me and offer insight.  It means a lot.

Stlaser, she has a good relationship with her father, though she sees things now as an adult she didn’t comprehend as a child.  She doesn’t resent him like I do my father.  My father is verbally abusive to my mother and destroyed her spirit to stand up to him.  They have been married for almost 40 years.  I believe he hates himself and doesn’t know any better.  He says his father was the same way and that’s just “how he is”. I think that’s weakness.  Any man can change and better themselves-I guess they have to want to.  I never had a grandfather on either side and never knew my dads father.  My wife has said many times “you’re just like your dad” and I used to be angry at this until I realized I was just that.  That’s when I recognized it for what it was.  I know I dont want to be like him. But I must forgive him.

Don, I have done just as you suggested. We have gotten a few names from our church’s Care Ministry coordinator.  We have chosen what seems like a good team, a married couple that are both psychologists. We will see them soon.  Both our sets of parents are very loving and giving regardless of their issues.  We are taking the good from it and forming our own expectations of what family should be.  Be good to each other and others, love much and respect with patience.

My wife being absent from the room is in fact social media. She says its her escape from stress.  I asked her why I wasn’t her escape.  Then I realized we dont do anything and I need to step up and MAKE time.  She also has legitimate medicated ADD and sometimes will walk past me not even realizing I was talking to her.  That’s one of the things I had a hard time with but we have worked on that’s and its much better.

The other main issue I am seeing now that the kids are getting older is this-what they see growing up is what they will seek as an adult.  We must be first and have a healthy supportive relationship because my girls must know that is a norm and seek to have that family dynamic for their own.

Im not sure what can be done about my wife’s job.  We depend on the income and staying at home wouldn’t save us much money.  She is a very good teacher and the leadership goes to her for opinions and suggests she run meetings and committees.  In fact, other teachers, who are lazy, talk bad of her because she sets the bar so high.  That’s becoming a big stressor at work, she takes it to heart. I tell her she is doing the right thing and not to worry about what others are saying. It’s the same reason Trump is attacked every single day.  Because he is changing the normal complacent way of doing things by leading for the the best interest of the greater good instead of just bing there for oneself.

TexasRedNeck, as I was typing you chimed in-Thanks brother! We are making more time for each other.  She wants to join a gym and I told her Id go with her.  I think that would be beneficial in so many ways. We used to run together. As for the money-we got in debt when we built our house, to the tune of 43k in credit and loan debt. Some of it was not budgeting for sure. We enrolled with a debt counseling agency who got the interest rates lowered for the most part and we pay 1086$ a month towards it in one check, which they disburse to the separate accounts. That’s a huge chunk for us and big stressor.  We no longer use credit cards for anything. Also we have paid that down to 21k in 2 years.

Thanks again guys.  Ive enjoyed reading every one of these responses. Ill continue to check in.

Hey guys. We are 37 and 34.  Im admitting that I am having a hard time in my marriage, we both are.  We have been married 6 years and have two girls together ages 5 and 2.5.  We are currently wrapped up in our professional careers and running after kids.  Stressing about money has some to do with it.  But bottom line, I can be difficult and she can be ..absent from the room..for lack of a better term.  Im trying to find a path to being a better man, husband and father.  I have a few guys friends I can talk to but not often.  Ive never really had a solid man based forum in which to gather pov’s and draw positive energy from. My wife’s father is an alcoholic in denial who cannot be personal, and my relationship with my father is stressed because he has treated my mom terrible for decades-which I resent. I dont go to him for this help. That’s part of how I am difficult. I sometimes catch myself talking to my wife the way he does to my mother.  I recognize it though, and I want to change it.  My wife has come out to tell me that she is depressed and hates her job as a teacher which she has done for 13 years.  We have started to look for counselors to talk to because, honestly I dont know how to navigate this tough time.  I wanna to do what’s best for my marriage and for my family.  I know what my girls see in me is what they will look for in a man-and I need to be better.

Im just hoping to draw form a good source of experience and from good men.  Thanks guys, I look forward to outside opinions and points of view.

Don-1000%. Ill say this.  Sometimes Gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.  This was certainly one of them. I weld on the side and Im currently searching for opportunity there.  I have a great job and am payed well.  We were looking at a quicker way forward and didn’t look deep enough into what it truely costs.

DW and I were just talking about how her parents (retired) cant afford to do what they want because of refinancing and credit card debt. We dont want to be like that.  Looking at it now, I dont want to add debt.  Id much rather work and earn it somewhere else.  We aren’t at a place where we have sell our soul to continue. We are doing just fine and it will get better.

Personally I am releaved and see it for what it really is.  A blessing.  Thanks guys.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Need some home refi advice
« on: May 07, 2019, 11:32:18 AM »
Hey gents, I could use your worldly wisdom here.

We began down the road of a cash out refi to eliminate some debt and get a shop built. Long story short-

We built the house nearly 4 years ago and had 20K equity the day we moved in.  Fast forward a few years and with the knowledge that our area is a hot spot for growth-we decided to try and refi.

We filled out everything and then it was the appraisal that was the keystone.  Well it appraised for the same thing it did when we moved in.  Right, NO appreciation what so ever.  It’s not like we let the house go to shat.  In fact Ive put a lot into it.

I am fighting this because the coms the appraiser chose were terrible. I pulled some myself that, to me, made sense that we should appraise at least 40k more than it was.  All the mortgage company said was sorry we cant do anything. So we are out 600$ for the appraisal and they wont even consider the proof we found ourselves.

We have good friends in the multi million dollar club of real estate.  They all say that is absolute nonsense.

Any thoughts here?  I am currently waiting for a response from the mortgage company from our last correspondence regarding the fact the we feel we didn’t get a fair shake.  I mean the appraiser lived over an hour away. How could he know our area. The company was suggested highly to us ny some family friends.

Any of you bretherin have a Trager?  Dear wife surprised me with one a few weeks before Christmas.  Its a small one, and Tailgater 20 so we can take it camping.   I have already made some incredible meals with it.  My only complaint is the feeding system. If I dont clean the temp probe and the fire basin almost every other time it will either runaway or just stop burning.  Kinda annoying when you are cooking for a few people and realize through the remote thermo the temp is 88 degrees half way through. I was hoping I could actually set it and forget it.  Overall though, it has made some excellent steaks, jerky, whole chickens, loins and wings.  Just thinking outloud.

I am late to the post but what a good one. Thanks Don. While I do enjoy Christmas time, it’s mostly because my beautiful wife and girls light up and love the season. I completely disagree with what it has become, a commercial holiday. Where people stress an exorbitant amount over “getting” people things. It disgusts me and I would be salty Scrooge if it weren’t for my family’s Joy for the holiday. They don’t care about the things but love the time we spend together. I’m good with that.

The company I work with couldn’t be run by better people. They are a a successful combination of a very business savvy woman and a retired Army Officer of 23 years. These two are awesome.  I would do anything for them and I don’t say that lightly. And they would do the same for me.  This year we, as a company gathered clothing and toys for a family in need. A single mother with 3 young boys and one girl. The mother was a hard working human being who Is also fighting breast cancer.

It hit me in the feels when we turned over work shoes for the Mom and clothes for the ever growing boys and some girly things for the one sister.  There were tons of stuff from the turnout of our big hearted company family. That is what it should be about. Promoting love and support for fellow man is a gift good enough for me.

I’ve been wearing a Suunto Core for about 5 years. I recently replaced the band with a grey one. It’s pretty good for what it is. Not an incredible machine but it does a light duty job just fine. The compass is a little less than accurate and the aluminum bezel is easily scratched but it has good looks for a watch. I like the black face with grey silicone band. It’s been everywhere with me including diving in the Gulf coast.

I do like Ginger Beer, even by itself.  The wife likes that with a good vodka-Moscow Mule.  Goslings is good but oh man the sugar content is brutal.

Last night I enjoyed a few old fashioneds.  Eagle Rare whiskey, 3 cherries (found some natural non fructose syrup, non dyed-taste so much better) a splash of simple syrup and ice.  Very Very smooth.  Wife and I sat on the porch swing and she even had some!

43
My turn.

Setting up for a job this weekend. We have to take apart a specialty fabric ceiling to replace the 10 yr old lights above it. There are 4 conference rooms in an ultra high finish wealth management firm in Atlanta Ga with tables that range from 5.5’-7’ wide and 7-22’ long. The tables under said ceilings cannot be moved so we must scaffold over them.  The scaffolding company we hired was new to us but available. We showed onsite at 1pm today..as did they. Then their delivery of hardware and parts came but some were too tall, like 10’ tall and of course wouldn’t fin in a space with 8’ ceilings. So...our journey begins. Here is it almost 7pm and we are waiting on a 3rd delivery because everything has been a disaster. The field guys are great but obviously the office needs help. So forget dinner with the fam, my two beautiful girls whom I haven’t seen for a week and some much needed R&R and bourbon. Uhg. This was supposed to only take from 13:00-14:30. RE. Diculous.  I have to be back in the am all day tomorrow and possible Sunday as well.

44
Thank you guys. We are both very committed to this. I will keep you all in the loop as we go along this journey. Personally, I am very excited about it. Funny excerpt, I have only two neighbors on a long gravel rd that end at my place. They are fantastic and they both have keys and codes to my home and vice versa. We finally told them about our plan and the family in the first house said “Ha, we talked to a realtor last week. “. The the second, “well tell me how much you may sell for”. I was a little shocked but that goes to show how the market is in our area right now. We all have built/been here for under 4 yrs.

45
The 12mo look ahead was just to see what we could do. I will carry the numbers with me much longer than that and change them as life does. The main thing is that we also carry over the discipline and restraint. We currently have a 4% rate.  There is a always a chance we won’t get that but we could also be in a much better place in 12mo. My figures, in a nutshell, are profit 85k from the sell. Payoff 45 of debt and wife’s car, saving us  Have 40 in savings instantly and our credit starts to rise. We spend 12 mos living light while still being able to live and eat while being able to save an additional 40k. In an extreme budget we could have 75k to put down-no pmi-and still have 30k emergency fund. And keep it going from there.

We could get our finances under control and keep everything for sure. But that route is much much longer. Right now our house is payed off when I’m 61. If we do this and get into another place similar at a 15yr mortgage (which we would be able to handle at that point) it’s payed off at 52.

46
We technically wouldn’t be living in the camper the whole time.  We have solid places to stay with great friends and family who support our endeavor. We did however basically live in our old camper (travel trailer with NO slides) for a year while we built the house we are in now ha! So its not new to us. But yes we have another little one now so it would be a chore for sure.  Bear9350, we do like the house.  It’s 2500 sq ft farmhouse hidden on 6 very private wooded acres with a great stream that’s full all year long which looks like a mini amazon when it rains hard, as of lately.  Anyhow its a fine property and we love it but we are willing to put everything to faith and find it again with much prayer, diligence and patience. After all, we found that one.  We are not emotionally attached to the property and I said to my wife, I truly believe this is an investment and don’t believe we will be here forever.  I feel God has a plan for us and tend to let Him steer though I can be hardheaded....obviously. Tithing is something my wife and I talk about a lot. We know through His guidance all things are possible.  That gives me a bit more hope and calm over this choice.

Tommy13, we have been involved with a debt management co since Jan 1.  They negotiated much of our rates and therefore got payments down but it is a long journey when looking at the immediate opportunity we have otherwise.  I have done the numbers and both ways, keeping the house and selling.  I have spreadsheets for both to 12 mos out.  The answer is there plain as math could be.  We will just have to see what our realtor friend says Monday when she comes to take pictures and investigate the surrounding comparisons.  Luckily for us everything that does sell, does so for 375k+ and our property is the last like it in the area. We owe much less than that.

47
With a HELOC, our debt-income ratio wouldn’t warrant a very good rate.  Above that, I do not want to owe more for a longer period of time.  I am interested from getting out of loans of any kind as much as possible.  As for the 5th wheel, we are so badly upside down in it, its worth more to use it.  If I could Id sell it and my Diesel.  We owe 36k on the camper and could maybe get 20 tops.  It’s a 2016 33’ prowler.  I may have 7k equity in the truck. I cant even come close to those two cancelling each other out.  We have gotten an incredibly detailed budget in the works right now that cuts everything out within reason.

Morning fellas, Id like you guys to chime in and allow me to borrow wisdom from a pool of knowledge if you dont mind.

We have found ourselves in debt mostly from credit cards to the tune of 40k.  We havent ever budgeted and yes I know we have been ignorant.  We both make very decent salaries but still, living above our means has brought us to a crossroads.  I feel we have caught it just in time.  An awakening happened when we tried to get my wife into a larger vehicle and couldn’t get finiancing from anyone!  We pulled our reports and saw the problem. Overspending has caught up to us.

We have an option to sell our property which we built 3 years ago.  We have a lot of equity in it and our location is a white hot areas for land and home sales.  Seems everyone is coming down from the city and looking for average and a little farmhouse.  We are thinking of taking the profit and immediately getting out of all outstanding debt and living like gypsies in the 5th wheel for 12 months saving all the money that is therefore available.  We have tremendously gracious family and friends that would accommodate us for that amount of time.  We are strongly considering the adventure, we have two girls, 4 and 1.5yrs. It will be challenging at times but the payoff will be huge when we decide to find land and build again.

The other option is keep what we have and spend years of struggle to catch up and even longer for our credit to do the same.  Kind of a no brainer to me.  However I would like your input, perhaps from your own life experiences.  We are in our 30’s so I figure if we ar going to do this, then the time is now.  We are on a quest for true freedom and happiness.  I feel we have lied to ourselves living the dream (fake) while being a slave to creditors for too long.

Thanks all!
