Does she know how much $ she has saved for finishing early? Plus the additional time she can be working will put her ahead of the employment/retirement curve

Bringing my "road base" conversation over here from Dave's thread.
Bob..so you agree with the guy that told me 4-6" rock? Would you put dirt on top of that or go straight to gravel...I was thinking maybe some AB, then 1" on top. Again,  I haven't dug into it to see what kind of soil it is, yet.

4-6” rock or 4-6 inches of rock?

No strength in dirt Ken, AB? not sure what that is but ground/broken asphalt or cement concrete is good, so is good clean pit run gravel or 2-4 inch crushed rock with a top cover of 3/4-. Might need to channel water away from base with good drainage piping and ditches if you will be in wet area. If you never run heavy on the driveway you might get away with less strength but we know that won't happen. Get it opened up a see what you got first then look at options for building a good driveway. Remember water is one of the worse enemies of roadways. Overloading the base is right up there also.

Well stuffed the garlic rings and pepperonis.
And into the smoker.

It’s a small unit...not.

I’ve smoked 150# of garlic in one go in it. Too much that was.

Size of the rock Dave, not thickness.

I have watched quite a few vids on building driveways in wet climate. ..much different than around here and what I've done before. ..much more work.

Bob, AB, or ABC is basically crushed fill, like up to 3/4"...compactible.
I plan to make water drainage because it is on a slope, between 5 and 800 feet long depending on terrain. The gravel guy bought fabric for someone else and they fell through so he will give it to me at cost..$340 for a 400 foot roll (he has 3)...forgot to ask how wide it was. The road will be about 12' in theory.

Sam, why oh why do you do that when I'm hungry!!

Sounds good Ken. You will be surprised at what you can put fabric over and end up with a good solid roadbed. It really keeps the mud from pumping up and helps bridge the weaker areas. Probably don't need a layer of pitrun, but that does keep the sharp edges of the crushed rock from cutting the fabric.  All the descriptions or names of products change from area to area, I hadn't heard that one used before. Lots of guys here use 4-6 screened crushed for base as the water flows good to the curtain drains or ditch line.

He's pretty quick, and she is just plain pretty. We'll have to see how things work out.

Looks like she needs to spend some money on a pair of pants, those are lookin' pretty threadbare!

Really, though, Congratulations to Miss Shelby, that is quite an accomplishment!

V6 4.0L w/ 5spd (yeah she’s gunna learn to drive a stick) has cold air intake and cat back. 2010 w/ 69k on the clock. Seems solid and has enough get up it’s not a dog but hopefully not enough to get her in trouble either. Local used truck dealer had it on consignment and wanted it off his lot so we had a little help I think convincing the owner to take our offer.

Don, can you believe they pay top dollar for those jeans new like that?

I am currently thinking I’ll leave it.   The heat should burn off the outside and the rust color will match the acid stain cement wall.     But momma might change my mind,   Black would look ok also I think

Do you guys think I need. Removable grate in the bottom?

I was maybe a hour or so.  We took and used the cnc plasma table, cut out a pattern of 6 squares curved it on the roller to match the radius

Vise grips and a drag plasma cutter went rather smooth.

I’ll look at getting a grate for the bottom.   I think that’s the ticket

Depends on how big you want your fire/flames. A grate and some holes between the ground and the grate to let it draw air from the bottom will make bigger fire. Without it it’ll act like a fire on the ground.

Had to replace the touch pad and internal lock on one of my safes today. Two battery connection wires out of four were  broken after about 25 years of use. Talked to Cannon Safe, they sent me new replacement lock and touch pad at no charge. Hardest part was finding the broken wires and keeping the very short wires together long enough to get the safe open.

Good life span there. I hear cannon has that issue but sounds like they stepped up.

Just replaced the batteries in my Liberty 72, at least 7-8 years.

JR, I am very happy with Cannon given the service they provided. Somewhat of a big let down when you push the buttons and the safe doesn't open though. Was able to find a couple broken wires in the back of the touch pad, got them reconnected and the safe opened. Could have been worse, like  opening morning and not being able to access the rifles would have really got the blood pumping.

Can't believe it cost $100 for me to do an oil change today. Changed the trans filter too.

I will add it runs so much better now with the new gearing. Shifts without pulling as hard.

Finally got the speedo reprogrammed too, dead on. With 35s its turning 2k at 70mph. 37s should be perfect. Plus the ABS/brake lights are off now.
