I thought maybe you were gonna put a cupola up there and teach the youngins how to snipe the intruders.

Gotta love big wrap around porches. I mean, it's just not a house without a wrap around porch. No matter which way the wind blows you can take advantage of the breeze. Looking good Blaine.

So had my first freak out moment on the job site the other day. Called my general HOT and PISSED.... The knuckle dragging undocumented immigrants who stocked my roof with shingles stacked all of them right in the center of the damn roof. Thousands of pounds of shingles! Bunch of freaking tools! Luckily, no damage ensued and my framed is really as good as he claims. The supply house was back out there at 1900 to remedy their cranial flatulence.

Secondary to that, went to the appliance house- bought a car... No wait just the kitchen appliances-

Add a fridge, dishwasher, trash compactor and ice maker to all that and my construction account cringed proportionately to the sparkle in momma a eyes.....

Damn I'm drooling over that range! Sweet! Love a kitchen that can get dinner cooked for 15-20 all at once! So your family will need 2 shifts right? :)

And yeah....keeping Momma happy is always a good idea!

Cooking for 15 is the norm around here. 20 is also a common occurrence. We have 9 kids, my wife's best friend and adopted daughter, plus in-laws and friends of ours and friends of kids... We are like the local community center. Nobody leaves without a full belly, a warm heart, and utterly annoyed by the background noise from 9 kids and their friends! ;)

I hope they still come around when we move out of town!

Yes the build budget may have taken a bit of a hit (quite a hit?) but mama must be happy too.

Our wives have similar taste in appliances. I thank the Lord my wife still has a kitchen small enough to prevent such purchases LoL  And now that 4 of the 8 kids have moved out, I can argue we don't need anything larger... maybe.

Blaine, my griddle gets the most use.  Years ago when we built a house when the kids were small, wife unit would not let me get the center griddle. Now in the current house I got what I wanted and even she uses it more than the burners.

Congrats on the progress.  It's starting to look like a house!

Bout to unload this fireplace! The guy at the MC depot says, "you gonna load it in that?" I say, "yessir, it's a truck!"- he says, "but it weighs 1600 pounds!" I say, "well someone better call Chevrolet marketing, cuz we should make a commercial about this!"

Barely made it level! Sheesh... Ride like a cadi all the way to the farm too!

Now I sit and watch mama bush hog until she gets done so we can unload her!

Darn that looks really sweet! So cool to see it coming along.

You might want to shoot those turkeys. They get pretty territorial. A buddy of mine who's a contractor had to put up a big ass fence for a client cause the turkeys would let them in their own back yard. Of course this was a crazy no hunting town in MA....so he got a $10K or $20K job out of it. Ha!

That's how I felt about it. I think the most I have had back there was a 250 gal water tote full during our last drought, roughly 2000 pounds, and it handled it fine, so I just measure everything off of that.

Light pic dump here. You can see trim is mostly up. The yard is to grade sans top soil. The racetrack, I mean driveway is being based in. On the inside we have HVAC finished, electric rough in is done, plumbing rough in is done. Currently installing security protocols and intelligent AV integration (smart house).

Soup can for scale.

Just wait another year and the camera video calling we have today will probably turn into 3D holograms .... we can "virtually" all be in the same place :).   In the construction industry we already have 3D goggles that you can put on to virtually walk around inside the building you just designed.  So it won't take long for that to become common.

We actually have an old racetrack near the house. Hasn't been used in years but you can still see the burms from the freeway and a little hanger where guys build planes.

Give HC a few weeks to lay some rubber on his track, it will bland right in.

How much cement have you pored so far?
