He was most likely referencing an aftermarket add on in addition to the stock one built into most radiators if the vehicle is equipped stock with an auto transmission. We used to run ones from summit that had their own small fan built in and we had them wired off of a temp sensor to start up.

If you have the tow package you should have the plate cooler (best ones).
