Who knows where I was in the pics?
-
The guy in the pic with me was my first ever platoon leader. Retired as a full Colonel. We are close friends to this day!
-

If it weren't for the Memphis Belle, the B-36, and that B-52, it could be second.
Nope not the B-70, but its a bomber and a tad bit faster!!!
-
Had to be the B58 then if faster than the 70. Delta wing rocket!
-
SR71 is my fav hands down.

That would be a good guess and probably faster than the Husler.

Bingo!
Double supersonic + 1/2 more
Convair moscow killer.
The belly tank was mounted on top of the nuke
If you look closely, the centerline pod is two parts. he conformal bottom piece is all fuel. Above that is a thermonuclear bomb, as in Hydrogen. That bomb was designed to destroy all of Moscow, so it's a biggin. If you look you can see two of its fins sticking out the back of that centerline pod.
Four J79's!!! The F4 had just two.
-
And heavy enough it needed the 8 wheels on each of the rear gear.
Yep, they dropped the "big one" then where clean for a fast exit.

It killed a good number of flight crew I hear. Fires/technologies not fully developed.
The ejection seat was more like a capsule for ejecting at high speeds. Normally ejections need to happen upright if possible and subsonic. If you want to see/speak/hear and do other things like that then the slower the speed of ejection, the better.

They were doing lots of those "capsule" things back then. XB70, F111, B58, to bad so few really worked.
