Air compressor help with storage

(1/3) > >>

Bigdave_185:
I awhile ago got hosed in a air compressor deal. Went from the vertical that I wanted and got stuck with 20 gallons more then I wanted in a horizontal fashion

Garage space is super tight and I want to build a shelf/work bench with a hinge so I can swing it up to move the compressor out.

I ask for ideas with the wheels, I think they are to high but not useful high.   The tank is to low to put stuff under it.
I don't have access to a welder or I would weld castors on.

Thoughts? Ideas? Could I strap this big tank to the wall and make it a vertical?

Wow this is not helpful with out pictures. Excuse me:)

It's a eight gallon tank I'll get more measurements tomorrow.

The tank doesn't care which way it's oriented but the compressor does. You'd have to reconfigure the compressor.

If you dismount the motor and compressor, like redneck says the tank don't care.
A couple fittings and some tubing the compressor could be put anywhere else.
Then figure a way to mount the tank vertical. Strap it, build a wooden cage, whatever you can do.
Looks a lot bigger than eight gallons, I was thinking eighty. May be a typo.

To dismount he compressor, you would have to cut the mounting base off, or fab a new one.
The existing mount may provide anchorage to position it vertically as well.
Next issue would be a condensate drain, use a bung on one of the ends you to fashion a drain valve in. All minor details in my mind. And at that point it would be all good.

Eighty.   That's way bigger then eight.   What if I took it off the wheels and just lowered it.  Would that mess up my concrete coating?
Would it shake my hole house you think?
