Forgot to mention my thumb won't hardly work with that new 12" bucket I posted before. The tines hang past the teeth about 6". Lol...didn't realize there was that much difference between compact buckets or I would've looked for something more compatible.

Mine is done. Weld on are about $500, but I need to measure the bucket first.

Dang, a once over and an oil change is costing almost $800. Hope they topped off the fluids at least.

County did have free contour maps for both 30ft and 10ft, but the 10ft stops 2 parcels west of my parcel. 30ft (10mt really) is not bad, better than the 100 from USGS.

Saw the land pride today, cheap looking like 3/16 sides.

Walked the property and makes some lines.rear is way up the hill, had problems finding it.

Spent over 2k at the tractor store today, but got a HD box blade. 3/8th wall, boxed 3 point pins and sacrificial ripper teeth.

Hydro oil is $103/5gal for the good stuff and $55 for the OK stuff (Kubota=Valvoline), need 15gal. 3 hydro filters, $200.

Service was another $800, that just included fuel filter, oil change and grease. SUpposed to fix the horn too (button missing) but not sure if it works yet

So, JR, I wish you only the very best and hope that box works, but behind 45 hp I keep thinking of big anchor on a row boat.

Again, I don't know western soils, so it may be fine and it would work on a finished surface...maybe.

But I have banged up my 72" box blade and will need one someday in the not too distant future. Land Pride is one of my go-to brands, so I may be a player when/if you down size. And if you do, I'd really be thinking 48" to maybe a 60". 45HP in the tractor world isn't all that much for construction work.

Trailer back in storage, dropped the tractor bucket and stuck it by the side of the house.

Have so much to do to it and some to the trailer, so I will start another thread for that.

With the tractor almost ready I found new (probably 1 trip) 20ft containers in SF for $1500 each. Worth the drive (50 miles each way) for that savings and condition, will get two. If I come back over the Golden Gate, no toll either ($21 for 4 axles).

Found with a couple easy mods (remove PORS cover, shave mounts and let some air out of the tires) the Kubota will fit into a standard container. Sticking with the 20s as they bypass building codes (under 200SF) and I can move myself.

When I pickup, I will use sacrificial ply under them with 2x4s screwed into the edges. This will allow easy slide off with no damage to trailer. New ply is cheap if needed. Later I am adding a hitch mounted 6K winch I have had laying around. Will leave it on the trailer but stored under the tilt bed and attach when required.

Just for fun, these are common sights where I am.

JR I paid less than $3000 for a hi cube 40 delivered 150 miles. It was a “cargo worthy” meaning still had certificate. Weighs 8750 empty.

What did they quote you for a high cube?

Anything over 200SF needs a building permit and I can move a 20ft alone. I understand as of 7/1, you can have 1 container per acre.

20ft HC are over 4k here. Many are just WW not cargo. Trying to find the "new" add again. I have found HC, but only in the LA area, to far.

Online quotes are over 1k for moves from the bay area to reno. I will have to move it/them too, just dropping on the lower road now until the road and pad are cut.

There are mule deer too, just couldn't find the pics.

Well, found a cargo worthy 40ft HC, delivered for $4200. If I need moved, they will for $100hr. Even though cargo (step above wind/water tight), they pressure wash, wire brush the corners and paint it tan.

Like TRN says it solves storage issues with the tractor as long as the county doesn't come down on me until I get it moved.

Start cutting roads and see what I need to vent the container. Want to leave to roof alone. Want several vents along the sides up top using solar to push air through.

Steel as far as I know. Alum would be pricy and not as strong.

You shouldn’t have any problems moving that
A chain on each corner and pick up the end with the loader and drag it backwards.
You may have a ways to back up but it should work easily

I only asked because I didn't know they made aluminum ones until I got one. It's a 50' HC. The extensions are the only thing I can weld to...
To get 50', they weld steel extensions on each end.
The roof is very flimsy also.

Roof on mine is wacked in a couple spots and will hold water when that happens. Heck the tractor barely fit into the HC, had to lower the BH but will lock in after inside.

Hauled all the good stuff up there at 0700 Friday. It was heavy, I figured around 13k. Pulled solid though, gearing felt good and I had just crossed 300mi break in and added new synthetic oil. Took it real easy for the first part, then its uphill for the next 75 miles. Got a little over 11mpg during this. Filled up there as fuel was much cheaper!

Got the container dropped, took a little work to get it level, but got it close. I wasn't there early enough to get the area leveled.

Kid (21) got it in there, but got stuck pulling out Got to use the new hooks on the tractor pulling him out.

Cut some 4x8s up to level it. Kub could not lift direct, had to use levers, but got it. 20 ton jack up front helped too. Out about 1 degree now.

Put a bunch of stuff in there I brought and bought getting up there. Including the forks and box blades.

Right around dusk I went into town to eat, parked in the Circus Circus garage and took a nap (remember, no sleep). 9 hours later, it was light out, I was really hungry and I had a few stops to make (why I came back to town).

Got ahold of the Polaris owner and had him sign the release which he sent unsigned,,,,,,,,,,,

Went by the Kubota dealer for my 3 point kit, which is WAS NOT!! ( http://real-man-truckworks-and-survival.com/index.php?topic=4033.new#new )

Got a bunch of stuff at Lowes and HF for the place. Just basic tools and such for now. Even got a new welder, the Titanium 170 (120-240v). List is $499, got for $185. Kolbalt 227 piece tool kit and some pliers. Thing on new cordless stuff too, might do dewalt this time.

Unloading the BB and forks was fun. Was parked on a slight hill and the kub was rocking on the back wheels trying to hook up. After a few tries I just drug the forks down the trailer. Fell on my butt once right at the bottom with all the metal there (and a little hyro fluid). Pics would have been good, right!

Hauled the trailer back home for hopefully another trip Wednesday with the Polaris and the boys.

Have the 2000w gen ready to go up, but thinking the 5500w might be better until I ge the trailer up there. Need to get a 250gal water tote too. The 5 gal cans wont go far.

Have to de container venting also. Going to add 3 vents down each side and a solar fan on one door that will also run off a couple 6v AGMs I have. Should be good enough for some 120ac too if needed.

Yep, it was fun. Started the road up to the pad too. Only about 50ft but you have to start someplace.

Time flew between shopping, driving, loading/unloading (actually ran out of room in the DMax). Started home at 0100hrs.

I guess until you get your travel trailer set up, you can grab a cheap room in town during the week anyway. How far from the casinos are you any way?
A couple of the containers will give you lots of storage. How far will you need to haul water or will you have it delivered once you get the storage tank set up.

I am 45 minutes from Sparks, about 30 minutes from shopping.

I may be able to get water from neighbors. I have several 30 and some 50 gal containers I can use (have for scouts), so filling a 250 is not bad but don't want to haul it full.

Guess I left it out up there but the contained stick out like a sore thumb. Going to paint it up some to break up the outline and darken the tan some.

Did get a solar motion light put up, but got to late for cameras, will do this trip.

Spent the last couple days up there with the boys. Staying in the container was not bad. Water for washing up loomed again, need to address.

Polaris did not make it up, not running well. New gas but will do nothing but stumble off idle, maxing out at 1600rpm surging. Thinking the TPS.

Put up some shelves and generally put stuff up. Maybe a little cooking stuff to do some basics, closest food is an hour round trip.

Met the neighbors you can see in some of the pics. Nice couple pointing out rattlers are out and we saw. They are from where we are and own a small business still. Even new my ex boss and flys radio control.

I remounted the motion lights from a few zips ties to a wood mount, works great.

Put two 100 watt solar panels up top that feed into a controller. Controller feeds 2 big AGM 6v batteries I got for $50 a couple years back. Using a 800watt inverter it ran a 20in house fan all day with no problems. Felt nice moving air around in there. Temps weren't bad though, 85ish day and 50s night. Always a little breeze so in the shad it was really nice outside.

Started the vents by adding an intake 12x12 low on the door. This will get a timed 12v auto fan to push air through.

Then added a couple vents high (will be 6) by cutting a 5x5 hole in the low area of the corrugation. Put venting screen over that and a galvanized flashing plate just under the upper 2x support. A few screws and sealant and we are still water tight.

I might copy your upper vents. It's already 140*+ in my storage containers.

Check the tps harness first. Replacing and setting the tps sensor itself is very tricky on those things.

There super easy, self tapping screws (1/2 is fine) and the flashing is precut for like 95 cents. I used a step drill for the corners. I finished the cuts with a cutoff wheel, but using a saws all is cleaner.

Using 3 per side, not touching the roof. That needs more work than I like. Couple bad spots that need addressing soon, most is just bends that bug me.

My 12in fan showed up while we were up there, so next trip. Lots of fans out there, got mine for $15 and a timer for $4.

Built the fan housing and installed a 12in, 12v auto fan. Framed in 2x3 which should clear the vent mounted in the door with longer screws. For this the nylon mounts work great.

Only thing that has not come for it is the timer, so I have to wire it into the solar panels directly for now. That or split the panels output, both are 100 watt.

Going to play with lighting at night and get the road up to pad area roughed in at least.

Just found out that a local company makes contoured foam panels for the inside of containers, with foil on the inside. It's not on their website, but the name is Prowall, here in casa grande.

Cut about 500ft of road this trip, got the fan installed but the controller didn't show up. Fan moves lots of air, cutting the voltage down a little.

Getting used to the Kub, backhoe got a workout. Bucket worked OK but just rolls over the bigger rocks. Have to get the land surveyed for a grading permit since I'm moving so much.

Got about 500 ft of road started pretty much close to the scetch I made. Finshed up past the trees on top. Cooked burgers in the bucket (bad pic).

Set mount is shot on the tractor. It spins, but has no suspension. Wont stay back just slides around. Was getting leg cramps from sitting to close.

If I move more than 50 yards, yes. That will be the road easily,plus cutting a pad on the hilltop.

Haven't found anything the kub can't handle yet.
