so right after the initial push into IRAQ, my unit got sent to the M.O.D. (ministry of defense...think pentagon) in down town Baghdad to remove all of the cached ammo and weapons that were found there.  well there were so many cans of that 9mm and the 7.62 that it took us a week to clean it all up.  so yes that really is how the eastern block countries package their ammo.

Did you guys put it in a hole and light it off?  I love watching those videos....

let me get to work and ill answer that

so I went thru all of my photo albums and I cant find the pics I was looking for that showed all of the cached ammo at the MOD, but I did find a few photos of what we pulled out of the ba'ath party museum that was right across the street from one of saddam's son's palaces (been too long for me to remember which one it belonged to).

it took roughly 100 of these trucks ( https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=hemtt ) 4 months to transport roughly 300 million tons of captured ammo, weapons, etc out of Baghdad to a captured ammo holding area (CAHA).  we pulled everything from SCUD Missile's ( https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=SCUD+missiles+iraq ) to surface to air missile's ( https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=surface+to+air+missile ) to air to air missile's ( https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=air+to+air+missiles ) to 12ga shot gun shells the had "proudly made for his excellency saddam Hussein by Remington".  yeah that last one really happened!

all of this was placed in huge piles out in the middle of the desert, as you can see from the pic below.

none of this stuff was covered, protected from the elements, shaded, nothing.  well about month 4 everything went BOOM.  I cannot begin to explain the SHOCK and AWE that comes with seeing and feeling most of 300 million tons of ordinance go BOOM.  after the investigation was complete, it was determined that some pineapple grenades or RPG warheads were what started the whole chain reaction.

and here is a photo that I had taken of me and one of my Soldiers along with my NCO and my Platoon Sergeant.  the photo looks orange because it was taken just as a sand storm was finishing.

good bit of progress on the homestead there, and I couldn't agree more with this comment.

to be honest, just about all of the socket wrenches and other socket stuff could be replaced with this set and you would have a heck of a lot of room left over.

I own the 85 piece set and have yet to really find a socket that I am missing out on, because this set will do both regular and deep well.  now the 131 piece set with the extra wrenches and bit drivers has caught my eye.  plus the 85 and 113 piece sets are star shaped socket head which allow you to work on any kind of bolt head.

ok folks, i have 2 bits of information here.

1. daisy is going up for sale.  yes thats right she is being put up for sale a few months after i bought her.  she is being put up for sale because we will be moving in about 9 months, starting a huge transition into civilian life and we are needing to down size the meyer household in order to make our packing and move as seamless, easy and painless as possible in one trip.  so with that being said, i am ofering first dibs to RealMan folks.  considering that i paid $3k for her, and have ordered/put on $1k worth of parts, i am looking at $4k for a price tag.  i feel that is a fair offer because of the condition of the vehicle, etc.

2. status update on the duramax.  had a new CP3 put on along with all new lines from the tank all the way to the CP3 to include a new filter and a plug to replace the race valve that went bad.  well i got a call yesterday saying she was done and ready for pck up.  i drove the hour one way, took it for a test drive and popped the P0087 (low fuel rail pressure code) several times.  i left her at the shop and told my mech to call me when he gets it figured out.  just off hand, what kind of reviews do you folks have in regards to FASS system pumps????

I would say a cleaning is definitely in need and you may want to look at changing out the fan clutch as well.  I have cleaned the stack, replaced both thermos, new cap and have even had new coolant flushed thru the entire system.  mine has been acting a bit funny as well and I am about at the point of changing the fan clutch and see what happens.

so here is whats for dinner tonight.

1 pkg jimmy dean sausage
1 8oz cream cheese
1 cup parmesan cheese
20 jalapeno peppers halved and scraped of seeds and membrane.
425deg for 20 plus  minutes or until they start to brown

I did them in the smoker.

on top of that we are having brisket burnt end sandwiches from the brisket last weekend.  by the way, who can say that they still own and operate one of those dishes that the burnt ends are being re-heated in........?

4888
it would seem to me that this thing would basically take all weight off the rear axle of the truck and allow the pulling vehicle to pull a heck of a lot more than it could normally (think Toyota pulling the space shuttle because this is basically the same concept).......?

4889
I came across this and was wondering what opinions folks have about it.  ken, RN, bob, whoever else has a fifth wheel????

Neither Franken-Snorkle nor the Rear-Bumper-Pintle-Mounted-Hi-Lift-Jack have seen the trail yet, so Darren may have a valid point.

For that matter, none of us (Don included) know if that motor is even going to start…

There is an internet rumor circulating (started right here) that the engine in Square D is actually one of those Payr.com hard-foam engine mock-ups that hot-rod builders use when fabricating chassis'…

...so, all of that parasitic-drag inducing hardware hanging out in the slipstream won't make any difference!

SQUARE D IS A HANGAR QUEEN!!!   START IT UP AND PROVE ME WRONG!!!

Consider the gauntlet thrown! Stop farting around with bumpers and such! Start it up!

Now, where is that poll function...

and this is coming from the guy that just disappeared for 2-? months to oversee a pool being built and has left us all hangin in regards to his build..............;D

the trim is held on with an adhesive type tape.

if you do a search on DF there are about 100 threads where guys talk about taking the trim off with eraser wheels, flapper type wheels, adhesive remover, etc.
