Mine did that to his 66 Galaxie 500 hardtop, light pole. still took him a few more years to quit the sauce, but that was back in the late 70's. he's been a diet coke guy now since 85.

TRN, you'd better chime in here soon or it's going to be DOT classic car nostalgia corner rather than the bus thread!

d44 vs d60 identification:

1/2" cover bolts = d44
9/16" cover bolts = d60

And what JR said. he's got a 60.

Projects, I never seem to run out of.  I would like a 66 ChevyII or a BB 68-69 camaro or maybe a shoebox chevy, 55 preferrably.

I thought of you Norm when the guy had the truck on the lift welding the exhaust.  He's out in the country by my weekend place....he said "hmmf, I knew you were from the city...with them tires on it"

1966 Chevy II ss convertible: Tate's all time dream car
1969 bb Camaro: Dad's got the paint (candy red w/ white dual stripes, tremec 5 spd, interior and suspension done. Shopping motors now.
I live through all your guy's projects for now, so let me know when you start up your Deuce project, I'll be wired to the computer screen.

Just payin' a compliment. I know you'd been working at getting healthy. Your Brits looking good too! I miss my Grandpa's Springers; they would hold the birds so well, we'd often take turns walking up to kick them to get them in the air. Great dogs those pointers, although I can't complain about my brush busting tank of a lab either.

Could also be the LEO's are being fed false information from higher up on the food chain, leading them to believe that taking them out was the only option etc etc. I'd like to believe that the majority of them were just following orders. I think the takedown was tactical; given the "militia's" status, it would make sense to effect the stop in an area where there would be no cell service to sever communications as best as possible, it just makes sense. I'm sure Nate or Bobby or Don would back me up on that. Sad all around though, and feds are likely the head of the snake here, just using the locals.

Tell the EPA to Withdraw Its Proposal to Prohibit the Conversion of Vehicles Into Racecars:
This will affect all of us. They will essentially make it illegal to modify any vehicle for any reason that sidesteps their emissions controls. If this were to go through, it would have a trickle down effect, killing the entire aftermarket and used parts industry! Please take a moment to sign the petition.

Mowed the "grass" Sunday. Neighbor asked if he could pay me $20 to hit his yard too, (older guy and I've got the rider, so I offered to just take care of him). Let no good deed go un-punished; they were having a garage sale, and a 90's Nissan hard body was parked across the street. somehow, with the bags on and the guard down I threw a rock through the fence, bent the shot around a fir tree and clocked his driver's window with his daughter in the passenger seat. No one was injured, and the local pic n pull had a window assembly for $50. In hindsight, I should have taken the $20, ::)

We have one daughter and one son. That being said, we have 8 kids. somehow, my son is a misfit magnate, probably having something to do with his difficulty making friends when we moved up to the rural community from a busy city, and his severe ADHD at the time. These kids accepted him, behavior issues and all where others wouldn't. ALL of them have deadbeat, drunk, junkie parents, or live with grand parents, or live with friends and no parents. We have spent the last 8 years raising them as we did our own as they would come to us with "school problems, homework help, dad's drunk again, mom's slapping me around, I think I might be pregnant, I'm drinking a lot and I think I might be depressed, dating problems" and on and on. We never turned them away, we scolded and disciplined them when necessary, helped with homework, fed them, gave them a safe place to stay, but made them follow rules. We have 3 that have graduated, 2 with good union jobs, one working on his own and supporting himself through landscaping and odd jobs, a few more looking to graduate this year, including our son, and sadly, one suicide. (we still feel at fault for not recognizing it sooner). There have been fights, cuss outs, years of separation where they were banned from stepping foot in our house, but last month we had them all out for dinner for Sam's 18th birthday, and it was truly heartwarming and inspiring. Every one of them could recount the many things we had done for them in the past, where they looked back and realized they were grateful that they hated us for a while, and also felt guilt at the loss of their friend. My wife works double 4-10's for the most part from home. I work full time and part time. Our kids HAVE to help out to keep the home running, and I hope that they don't have to work as hard, but I also hope they understand the value of it. Meaning I hope they make pathways for themselves, through hard work, that allow them more time with their families, and less stress. I don't think it's bad to want better lives for our children, but I do feel it's our responsibility to show them how to get there. Good for you that step in and say/do something. Maybe it's my youth, but it's hard to get enough respect for the avg teenager to not tell me to f-off let alone listen to me, but I'm not shy about calling them out on their bs either. The old adage, "it takes a village", needs to be amended to read, "it takes a village that gives a S$%@!, and if you can't find one, move."

Off road and ULSD are the same except for the die.

This is true. The taxation of the off road is less than the ULSD and is why they dye the off road to make sure we're not using fuel that pays the fed less.

I've performed the same technique before as well. A word of caution though; depending on how much air is in the ABS system, it can and will force air into the brake lines. jump on it a few times, get the ABS to purge, then repeat the final caliper bleed sequence to be safe. After stomping on it to cycle the ABS, also be cautious on your way home, the pedal can get soft.

if you're still dealing with the brake bleeding, you'll need to bleed at the master first. once air is removed from the master, you'll move onto the ABS unit and follow the abs bleeding sequence (unless Ken corrects me, I believe that this is not possible without a scan tool to run the ABS cycle. Then you can move on to the calipers as the ABS has now forced air into all the lines. RR LR RF LF in that order. Worst thing in the world for me when I was at Les Schwab was letting the darn master cylinder go dry, and having to manually prime the older master cylinders with a screw driver.

Is it still true that tires have a dot that shows the heavy spot?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

where the steel belts double over there is typically a yellow or green dot. line that up with the valve stem to start with and you'll have less to complain about. we used to tell the customers, "you've got a lifetime balance agreement, use it!" and encourage them to bring things back for a re-balance and re-torque after driving for a couple days.

you're dealing w/ all the BS the previous owner didn't want to deal with. you're too deep now to back out, so go on full plow. CEL is probably something emissions related now that you've got it up and running for the most part. considering your 4wd disconnect issues, I'm betting vacuum leak which will trip evap codes. glad to hear the flex plate was the simple solution.

I'm betting differing tire heights front to rear were contributing to wheel speed sensors freaking out the trac control. those rears were getting pretty tired. Glad to see you went M/T's; selling those tires for many years, I know the AT's don't hold up as long as they're supposed to, and wear poorly on the outer edges, cupping pretty bad in most cases of lifted IFS applications from camber during suspension flex and droop.
