Working on a fence that I tore down with the room addition. Dang wood has gotten pricey (fire and demand)

Trying this new foam stuff. 15 sec to mix, 15 sec to pour, build in 2 hours. $10 a bag vs about 5-6 for cement but little mess or work.

Not to bad so far, but there had to be 1 hole that had cement in it! We had offset the first post to avoid this very thing.

About 3 hours into that 1 hole now, using the HF Bauer hammer on it now.

Started by spreading another 26 tons of gravel. Probably about 1 load left depending on what I do with the area in front of the shop. I may pour a slab 30x30

Then, thanks to Ken, I put my nail plates on

Just need to hang the pocket door and then it’s on to Sheetrock

Mowed and ran weed eater this morning (half hour maybe  :likebutton:)

I rubbed down 4 roughly 8 pound butts this evening. Picked them up for 99 cents a pound on sale. Going on the smoker early tomorrow.

Hosted our youngest’s 14th Birthday party & last one I might add.... screaming girls all went home? Check!

Now relaxing

So I tried a new technique.

Put lump charcoal in the chimney. Get it roaring hot down to red hot coals.

Set the steaks on the grill and place the chimney ON TOP like a salamander and go exactly 90 seconds. Flip steak. 90 more seconds. This time while the 90 seconds is going put another grate on top of the chimney.

After the second 90 seconds lift the chimney and place the steak on top of the chimney on the aforementioned grate. Cover with metal bowl. Set timer for 1 minute. After one minute flip and cover again for one minute.

Remove and tent with foil and let rest. Perfect medium rare with any 1 1/2 inch steak

And yes. Those are unicorn paper plates with matching napkins.

Worked great. My new steak strategy.

Now the power is out after a storm. Have the generator plugged in and running the hot tub, wi-fi, fridge.

I’m hoping they get it back on soon. May not have enough gasoline for many more hours.

Bought a replacement grommet for the fuel valve on my generator.  I pulled it out yesterday and it was leaking but still started on the first pull.  Got to ensure that I can run the house if this storm hits.

I went through the whole thing a few years ago and rebuilt everything. The engine has always been good but it does over heat once in a while. We actually have more trouble with that old wagon than anything. No body has parts anymore so we have to make our own. The tuck is too tall to blow into it that so we have to use the wagon.

Well, I can't believe it, but John Deere told me to bring the tractor back in for another repair.

They admitted to straightening the deck last time and bolting on some new pulleys and hardware. Further, they acknowledged that the unit was being used properly and should be able to power through the field grass I had it in.

So we'll see how long the repair lasts this time.

We built some stair tread caps for one of our other houses today out of black walnut

Some of these folks that build homes think you need really expensive stuff to get really expensive results.  I tell you what, our crap table saw and our framing chop saw does a mighty fine job.

These will get sent to our cabinet guy to spray a coat of lacquer on and we will install

It's hard to beat the look of walnut.

.. one step closer to having a forestry machine. Had this thumb custom built to fit my mini x by a shop in Minnesota. The tines are 3/4" AR400. I spent 2 weeks looking for, what I think, is the best made version. .. also has a US made cylinder, h/d 2" rod.
...then threw in a $30 radio

Picked up some metal roofing for the garage, 14 sheets 27’3” long. I had one section that was rolled asphalt shingles. I’ll hopefully get the new metal roofing on this weekend.  Had fun putting it up on the roof with the loader on the tractor.

Yep I roughed it with him. Got a sore neck from a hard cot. I bought a Tee pee tent from Wal-Mart. I thought it would be cool. Its not. Woke up wet with dew even though the windows were closed. When you open the door all the water runs in because its on a slant. I really didn't think that one through. On the up side you can have it up in less than 10 minutes.

Glad you BOTH had fun Jon.  Way I hear it, fathers usually have the most fun and the scouts are there to keep matters in check!?

Yes I would say that is accurate. Otherwise I suppose there would be adult beverages and nobody would be awake to make breakfast.

Took the family 3hrs roughly up to steamboat springs. We hiked a couple trails before lunch then ate at a great Mexican restaurant there in town. After lunch we strolled the downtown shops. One downside was all the smoke from a local wildfire that is going on. During our hike we had a chinook fly over head with the water ball.

Sounds like fun Shawn.  My bro in law had a condo on Mt Werner that we used to have access to before he sold it.  Loved downhill mountain biking on Mt Werner.  My first trip of the day was over 40 minutes down the mountain.  My last trip was just about 20 minutes and I blew past kids that looked like they knew what they were doing.....  caused me to wonder if I was a little crazy.
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

We went and sat in a dust bowl at the sand dunes. Little Sahara recreation area with 30+ mph winds.   Sand everywhere
