I will have a few four inch pipes run under the drive, picked up some green sewer pipe for free. Planning on two runs at the garage end of the drive and one down by the sidewalk.

If you garage is the norm it will have about a 2-3' slope in it anyway to the main door. Before you pour make sure it is a little thicker if you can with a good steel pattern. My seams are only horizontal and spaced about 4', but I wish I had 1 down the center too. Now I have a crack down the center and junk gets stuck in the seams.

Honestly, run a pipe and know where the ends are. Make sure one end goes towards the sewer and the other in the garage center or corners. Cover and attach later.

Jr I am not sure I follow what your saying with your expansion joints

We have saw cut all of the homes we have built so far, they are rebar reinforced and tied to the house with bar. I don’t know what the dimensions they are all cut at. Mine will all get back willed with a product called steel seam so they are smooth joints.

I’ll see about some pipe under the slab. We back filled lots of soil into that garage area saturday

I would have rather cut my joints too, these are just to deep/big!

On my garage addition they did not put a joint between the driveway and door. So the foundation was tied to the driveway and now I have a huge crack about a foot from the garage door. I cut it do some stress relieve but damage was done.

I see, yeah the drive way will be poured in multiple pours. I have the RV pad we will skip sections as it’s 50plus feet. Break it up into 10 foot pours to I can finish it easy. The drive way will be 42 long but a sidewalk and the curb/approach will be in there. Not sure on width but plan is to rebar the whole thing or use the 4x8 sheets of the wire you can stake off the gravel and pour over. Link to follow

I have used that many time for sidewalks and the slabs on the side of the house. Think I would want rebar for a HD pad.

We have oil tree groves here. What a mess when they drip.

So the sewer is the green pipe? Looks like a great time to "run you own" with the soil all fresh up top.

Yeah I will be framing my own house, doing my own tile and a few other things for sweat equity.

Talking to my excavator about the drain in the garage. He said I could put it in and measure where I put it. Cut it out later and tie in after said and done. Reminded me of the amount of slope on the garage and driveway and advised it shouldn’t be needed. I am a little over 2% on the drive and 1.5% in the garage. I think that ship has sailed away after that convo.

Need to figure out lights for my deck stairs, bathroom light fixtures and finish details on my stained glass pendant lights being made by an uncle out of this

Ken we have a estimate of 75 needed in the whole lot. $4k for all of it and re evaluate the situation from there. My lot was a hole in between the two next to me. I was down almost twenty inches before I dug the hole. So in order to not catch everyone else’s water run off we are going to build up about five to ten inches above the other two. The left/east side of the house will probably get a garden area so I am going to leave it a little lower in hopes water helps my garden. But not a whole bunch lower.

Dave, I'm loving the drains at the doors. Lots of rain over the past week. A couple of passes with the squeegee and all the water brought in by the vehicles is gone without having to open the doors to let more blow in.

Yeah current price I should be paying is about$200 a load, I don’t remember to tonage. But 20 comes to mind. I am only paying about $40 a load

Yea, around 22-23 tons is $200-$250 for semi good dirt, not refined topsoil stuff, that can go $30 a yard or more!

So you are killin' it! Really just paying for the fuel of those trucks.

For example, to get a tri-axle in the tuck to haul anything you are looking at $100 on the low side to around $150 a load just for the trucking fee. Then add to that the cost of the stuff inside, like $14 a ton for some gravels X 23 and yea, you're normally in the $425ish range per truckload

I'd do rebar in your concrete, not the mesh. I had a stamped concrete patio done last Oct and opted for rebar on 18" square. It has no relief cuts in and I haven't seen a single crack yet. Though, its not subject to thousands of pounds of vehicle weight.

So, now that your lot is higher than the others, the water will flow into their yards... have you thought about doing some french drains around the perimeter?

Around these parts - good topsoil (3-way blend) is $34/yard. Just picked up half a yard last weekend to top up a flower bed.

Mesh is ok, rebar is better. Only two types of concrete, that which hasn't cracked and the kind that is already cracked.......

That screed was about ten feet. It was pretty wide.

I was gonna call the "screed" a bull float, just what I've always heard them called. Also, always thought Portland cement was a type of concrete, like the nice smooth stuff without all the rocks. I knew about washed and brushed finishes, but always thought everything was a variation on concrete. good to know.

We got her all finished, a little more burnished than I desired for my acid stain and epoxy. But I’ll just borrow a floor grinder and open up the top coat

Even got the garage floor saw cut today. Thanks to 85 degrees my concrete guy hates me!

If you knew the drama with this framing crew you would be as mixed up as I am, we have been fighting a battle!!! Finished product is outstanding but getting these houses there has been a nightmare. Way to much use of the sawzall and we have had to mix up our group three tries now to see if we can get a working combination. It’s been a real struggle with the three guys who have knowledge but not the knowledge to teach, the boss juggling schedule, sales, billing...... and the other finish crew for the houses

Current book has us 45 weeks out booked on framing jobs only. That’s not our finish times and our other odds and ends.

I’ll be on site for my hole house than back to finish work.

If I remember I’ll post a photo of my crack in the garage that I am pissed off about
