Shawn, if you are picking something up from him please let me know, I want that 1/4 ton he has.

I’ve actually been to his house years ago.... on my way to pick up this 74 in my garage I passed through Pocatello. Was looking at his trailers then. Guy has a lot of stuff.

if that guy is really looking to get rid of his stuff, he should contact either boyce equipment in ogden, ut. or Idaho motorpool up in fruitland, id.

Shawn,  shame on you.  I'll be driving through there in a few hours...

..was going to stop at Boyce to price some singles for my 5 ton, and maybe say hi to one of the Daves,  but not only out of cash, but we're hauling butt today.

Yeah, I’m not buying anything from him yet. I have that m715 in works with Norm and am headed almost to Wyoming early tomorrow for a pair of 2.5 ton Rockwell’s and potentially other items from an estate....

Ken do you have a tow bar for your 925? I’ve got some 900 series stuff that absolutely needs a new home. I ain’t moving it again.

So someone talk me out of this.....

Really digging the patina, it’s part of estate where the rocks are. He is asking way too much but was with the axles too so thinking cash talks. And still got the m715 coming from Norm in about two months....

Well, what is your idea for using it? Just the body? All of it?

What could you sell that you don’t use to recoup part of the cost?

Honestly, don’t know. Axles appear stock, not sure if rest of drivetrain is as well? Think I could buy it right and flip it even possibly. The one I’m getting g from Norm is minus bed. My thinking that was ok because I had an idea for an aluminum custom one with stair tread material for floor (think never washing your bed out!). So this would allow me to get exact measurements etc.

Speaking of which and maybe he’ll stop in but Norm and I were texting about this truck earlier and he made some comments about having enough junk and wanting to clean up. Thinking if he has something you may be interested in that now may be time to hit him up about it....

Oh and for the record he confirmed during that discussion he was feeling aok and not ill!

Yea you could probably flip it. Possibly with very little work. But that’s a decent risk to get measurements. Now, if you used the bed and cut the floor out and replace it with expanded steel, that could make it worth it. But you ain’t gonna get what you spent on it when you sell it bedless, if you went that route. Build two 715 buggies and sell one?

$10k, and maybe he’s proud of it? But I don’t think so, it’s worth half of that maybe and like those axles I’d pay maybe a third. He jumped on axle offer way too quick so won’t make that mistake again. Bottom line it’s his brothers estate stuff and 1.5 hours from his house. He needs it to find a new home.

I've driven those in europe back in the 70's. Want to say they have 5.38 gears, stock.

Pretty sure you're right,  just like the Willys had, and probably every other mil truck from that era.

He had what appeared to be older 5 ton axles under it, non of drive train was stock FYI

454 ci motor, fuel pump was out of it but would run off of pop bottle they had rigged up.

Thought you said it had stock axles Shawn.
Anyway doesn't seem like a horrible price. Looked at a M38a1 willys before my trip...SF 14 bolt rear , d44 in front,  blown 289 engine (not good blown)stock trans and TC and he wanted 8 and got 6 from someone else. I offered 2500.

Yeah, thought it was stock drivetrain. It is not.....

I’d be at $3k tops but I’m cheap and think you could sell it for $5k pretty easy to right guy. I’m not right guy and have enough projects ahead of me at moment.

What does it need to be a driver other than tires?

Know it needs a fuel pump (probably tanked cleaned), for record I did not start it but he offered to do that. Of course tires......

Charles, I sent you head of estates contact info. He’s nice church going guy (had to meet early so he could make it back to church service yesterday)  give him a shout. He’s not really a car guy so if you need pictures or video he could do that for you and probably fill you in on history.
