I believe it is the front axle disconnect

Here's my logic: I drove it in 2H and it turned and operated normally. Crawling underneath, I could not spin the front driveshaft, however the truck behalved as though it was in 2WD.

I placed the thing into 4H and I got some additional noise from the T-case and making a turn on asphalt almost locked the truck up, it was bindf=ing so tightly. Shifting again into 2H immediately alleviated the binding condition, but the front shaft would not spin.

Now here's the kicker. If you can remember back, I had developed a problem in the front axle after I installed the 4.56 gears. John just happened to have a customer's takeout from a recent 4.56 build in his Chevy 2500 truck. The owner didn't like the steep gears and returned to stock. I purchased that axle, changed the oil, and tossed it in. So, what if someone installed an LS differential in that axle and we never knew?

Now, is there an aftermarket LS diff for the 9.25 AAM/GM front axle?

If not, then I'm fine. If they did, then 50/50 I have one. Assuming it doesn't exist, and I don't have it, the front axle controller must have failed, or the circuit is not working. It is not throwing any codes at the moment.

a 9.5 semi float GM rear diff can be made to fit in the front IFS 9.25 as they are the same ring gear center diameter bolt pattern and spline count... if the tires spin in the same direction when you jack up you have an LSD. but i'm more concerned about gear ratio accuracy at this point. do you have a 4 post you can get it up on and run in 4wd in the air and check tire rotations?

I also heavily question what seem to be planned tragedies. Vegas still bugs me a ton to this day. just blows my mind that with the multitude of tech advances in ballistics the area was paved over before the lab results could be compared or even reviewed. just insane to me and NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT.

Cooking equipment / Re: Need a frig
« on: July 11, 2022, 04:53:59 PM »
Don, I don’t know the age of your unit but my freezer in my whirlpool at the ranch was on the Frits and it was an easy fix. The thermostat brain thingy needed replacing and I did it in about 20 minutes and it’s working like a champ.  YouTube is awesome for trouble shooting appliances.  Might be worth salvaging for a beer fridge.

Until someone proves me wrong (I sure it will happen) I stick with whirlpool or GE (and their monogram line ). I have a whirlpool that’s been in the garage for 14 years after 3 in our prior house and never a hiccup.  The main house has one of those fridges that cost as much as a car and other than a little control box it’s been bullet proof for 14 years.

Need and AAR on the new fridge after a few months. They have some cool features

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

GE monogram for the win Tex, and La Cornue for oven/ranges, (I wish). TRN has some solid points, we had an older LG unit on the beach and it' lost fan control from the freezer to the main unit. (i.e. all cold air is generated on the freezer side and pumped into the fridge side). control panel looking motherboard thingy, a little cursing and youtube and we were back up and running and that was with a 16 year old unit. Too late to stop you now, but since you're no longer in a time sensitive situation, might be worth hanging onto the older unit.

Moshimoto intercooler in route to handle the added boost. I ordered 3” od steel pipe last week and need to get some of the turbo piping mocked up when that shows up.

Make no mistake, the 37's work well. But I have been using this truck for a DD for the past 11 years and along with that, I tow sometimes. With the purchase (Delivery) of the EV I will now only use the truck for towing and farm chores. It likes 2000-2200 a lot. 35's would put me in that range at a slower speed more appropriate for towing semi-heavy.

I'll consider it all when it comes to tire time, but presently I am at 75% tread life so it may be years...

10-4; just making sure my thoughts are out loud;-)

163
I have been running 4.56 for some time now, lift let me match up the front/rear.

I had 35's and went with 37s after I finally did the lift. With a 5' lift I still had all kinds of rubbing on 35s, so I went back to 35s. Iron mans are $200 each and I mounted myself. I have stayed with 17s as when you just to 18+ the price is even crazier! Got 1200 for the 37 coopers, still have the old rims to sell too.

I am at 4k rpm and the engine seems really happy. Not lugging it and not rev it either. I can do 75-80 easy and still just doing 2.2k or so.

that's what i'm saying and should have quoted Don's comment to be more clear it was for him more than you. he's geared for 37" too.

164
don't forget you're geared for the tires you are running. dropping tire size will up the RPM without a regear

Have any of you guys had issues with laundry not smelling good after a long day of sweat soaked cloths,

I wear a shirt soak it in sweat, wash it and the next time I wear it and soak it again it goes straight to stinking just as fast as I can say the ABC’s.  Iv tossed more then a few shirts because no matter how I wash them, with what ever chemical it always seems to have a funk so I toss it!

Anyone?

I don’t mind the heat these days. As long as I don’t get out of the truck lol

if you have an HE washer, time to sanitize. we went through this smelled like it came out of the hamper the second it warmed up. we started running Lysol sanitizing detergent in the fabric softener dispenser with every load and it's reduced the unit cleaning cycle a ton, that and air drying between loads.

i run a cup of borax and vinegar directly in the unit and then run it on a sanitizing cycle, but if you don't have that feature just the hottest setting you have. I fill the bleach dispenser to the max as well.

Pull hard at the rubber door seals and clorox wipe the insides of the grooves and you'll be scared at what you find there too.

when we first bought the units used it took me 4 of these cleaning cycles to get it to stop smelling like a moldy foot. FYI

it's funny but the wife and I were just discussing this last weekend where we could move the food storage in the garage and actually park the cars in there this summer, but then we went and got a bunch more whole oats and wheat. the CO-OP (which is like a tractor supply store down here) has 50lb bags still and overstocked. might have to go get some more and forego the convenience of the car in garage situation. UT Dave can attest that with a lot of LDS folks on my Dad's side we've always been up on a supply of non perishables. Old empty bleach bottles make for fantastic water storage btw. Oh, and I don't broadcast this information to my neighbors either... although with most of them being elderly and wealthy, I feel like ours would be a targeted neighborhood from the broke woke grasshoppers, so ammunition supply is going up too. basically buy whatever I see whenever I'm out and about. I think I'm up to about 300 rds of 00 12ga

« on: May 11, 2022, 10:08:32 AM »
So its a gauge issue, not an engine issue? Don't want the later model, body is to busy and they cost way more.

I understand in 15 they went to Wifi reporting for engine issues. (you can't hide)

I want the 5.3, not sure if it came with a 4.8, 6.2 get poor mileage.

Did they all come with same ratios, or is the tow lower.

it's typically a clogged pre-filter screen issue, but you can easily verify with the mechanical gauge if you have a toasted motor or a dirty screen. I will say with southern OR dirty fuel from CA, I'm dealing with check engine lights a lot more due to direct injection. actually NEED to run injector cleaner every couple tanks now, not just some parts store snake oil. stay up on it and you're fine. 07.5+ is the new body, but i always avoid 1st gen changes, so 09+ makes sense to me at least. almost all 3.42, some 3.73 but could be ordered with 4.10. RPO codes in the glove box sticker:
GU4=3.08 GU6=3.42 GT4=3.73 GT5=4.10 G80= W/ Govloc, which most w/ AWD do not have, but selectable 4WD do.

stay away from early 07-mid 08. bring a mechanical oil pressure gauge with you to the lot. most of the time it's just the screens blocked up, but some can have some are worse than others. 14+ w/ the 12 bolt has the bigger 9.5" in the 5.3L or 9.76 in the 6.2L

I've used the 4 blade system from "Harry's" for years. I'm on a plan. Every month or two a new refill box arrives and I'm charged around $11. I then started buying their shaving cream and after shave. They use German blades, but they do not hold an edge very long
You're using Harry's after what they did?
never would've thought....

I'd recommend watching the video Dave posted. They created their own razor in response and in direct competition.

Oh No...! What did they do?

Ben Shapiro said, "Boys are boys and girls are girls" and Harry's pulled their advertisement from their Daily Wire.

Ride report: W O W
The truck is great
That torque converter fixed everything. This burb now has all sorts of power and is really nice to drive.
I am very surprised that one change can make this much difference. Now when I put it in gear, it wants to move. When I step on the gas, it feels eager. When I press on the gas pedal a bit more, I'm into all sorts of boost and the truck is moving with authority.
There is no more revving at all. It acts almost normal except that it has a metric ton more power. I actually may not have to do anything else except solve the heated O2 sensor problem.
Its too early to tell, but it doesn't seem to be using gas like it used to. When I'd make a trip to/from the city, I'd see a slight movement off full. I've driven the truck to/from town three times and it has just started to show a decrease in fuel.
I think I am going to like this very much

congrats. sounds like that darned converter was the major gremlin all along

The work continues, man what a bunch of effort this thing has been. And I was thinking it was a 250 page book, boy was I wrong. Up through chapter 12 now with the editing and the thing has 356 pages currently and is still missing 3 chapters. That means I am looking at somewhere from 450-500 pages in this first work of the Thoren series. Unless I am mistaken, that's the size of the thing so far.

So I need some input, and Andrea, our young artist needs some input. As I have stated earlier, Andrea is just starting and we all want this book and her illustrations to provide her a stepping stone into the career field. I want the book to be top notch and I want her work to speak as highly about her as it can.

I am sharing the illustration she just submitted to sit opposite one of the chapter starts. I am not sure how I feel about it, sort of like it, but feel it is missing some detail. To help me, if some of you could look at it and comment, it could help me see how the readership sees it

Thanks
From an artistic perspective it’s hard to say without the context of that chapter.

However the figure to the far right seems un naturally upright and chest and legs seem out of place compared to the other figures.

I think "far right guy" is standing up in the foreground while the others are sitting around the fire which would make his size disproportionate to the surroundings.

OK from the 0.02 of a hack artist; the lack of detail is firelight reflecting off the gents sitting closest to the fire. brighter light, etc. she could give some skeletal outlines to the center mage looking fellow, but you have to understand that the illustrations need to keep continuity with the earlier illustrations as though the same Thoren historian were drawing them. look back at earlier pieces. do the light and shadow effects appear similarly? is there a drastic change from one chapter to the next? this is what she will be judged on by other artists objectively viewing her work. if you want to help her, you need to make these points and have her review her own work. maybe she was just tired that day...

Taught rifle, blackpowder and modern shotgun merit badges at the scout camp for 5 years. mentored by a grizzled old vietnam vet who told the best stories but was hardcore on gun safety. can't tell you how many parents he chewed out after i kicked their kid off the range permanently after their 2nd violation. 1 warning, then you're gone. period. had 1 zero warning kid though. Parents thought boy scout camp was a good time to wean him off his ADHD drugs cold turkey and leave the volunteers to deal with it... long story short, he stovepiped a 22lr in a marlin match rifle, lowered the barrel at my gut an repeatedly pulled the trigger while racking the action back and forth complaining it was broken. you'd have thought i could fly with how fast i covered 50 ft to snatch that gun from his hands. I kicked him out immediately, and lobbied to have him sent home. Camp director disagreed...(politics) until... he pocketed 4 rounds when my assistant was not paying attention and threw them in the campfire that night. no one was harmed but our reputation. he left the next morning.

I've chewed out good friends with bad gun safety, even my own Dad. I've lost 2 close people to negligence and it will not ever happen again if I'm involved.
