Interesting.  The printed side(the side I have out)Seems to have some sort of sealant on it. It certainly looks different than the other side.

I have 7led light fixtures going in it that are 4 ft long and 4400 lumens each. I’m Thinking it will be plenty bright.

Well that was easy

2 1/4 inch pipe. RR ties for runners.

Shove it with the tractor. Set it back down. Done.

Have video later.

Is that sand or smoke?

Late last night a real deal rocket scientist slipped up a little and poured diluted mineral spirits on potassium. Potassium and water don’t play nice with one another.

Luckily he wasn’t hurt but the building was a pain to ventilate.

Started my truck search hard and heavy again today and found two possibles. A gold colored 2004.5 LLY long bed with cloth seats. 145k miles with an asking price of $17,800. He other one is a white 2005 LLY short bed with leather. 94k miles and he’s asking $20,500. Both 1 owner southern trucks so no rust. The 05 sounds like a better deal but the original owner was a smoker. It has new leather on the front seats and a new headliner but it supposedly has a little smoke smell left. A coworker who owns some rental houses swears an ozone generator will get rid of the smell. Anyone have experience with that?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a ozone generator for the house and it works ok. For the truck I would just use regular coffee in an open container. We used it for refrigerated semi trailers and it works like a champ.

Well, the rectal recon went well- 2 small benign polyps removed. In & out quick. There at 7:15 for check-in and at Target grabbing coffee and odds and ends at 10.  Was OUT & awake like someone threw a light switch!  Nurse was a smart-ass which I appreciated - she was the one who ordered the extra large probe and 100ft. of cord so they could read my thoughts!  When she passed by after I was dressed with the next victim, I told her I left her watch on the counter in the washroom!

Must say that AFTER they get you in the room to do the procedure it’s a piece of cake- final humiliation is being wheeled out by a tiny girl in a wheelchair wide enough for a 600lb patient. That sucker scraped the side of the exit door!

Thanks for the prayers gents!
Glad it is over and nothing bad was found!

I completely love this new machine!

I give two thumbs up for that planer as well. In NJ we had a cedar back deck that was 26' X 90'. Spanned the entire length of the house. I pulled up all of the cedar board which were nailed down and planed the underside. Then screwed them back down. Most of the boards were at least 24'. Had to replace some of the boards but it turned out nice. That planer paid for itself many times over. Didn't have to sand anything.  :likebutton:

Too many times, for sure Nate.

So I’m trying to get things wrapped up at the weekend place before we head out to Memphis to visit the in laws tomorrow.

Got up early to mow and trim. Got almost done and was mowing around the pond and ....you guessed it. Put the new zero turn in the water. Not just in the water but it was steep and the mower slid all the way to the bottom in the middle of the pond. As I swam away from it I was watching the bubbles move further out and settle right near the middle of the pond. At least I hit the switch and killed it before it went under.

I had to float an inflatable to the middle of the pond and then dive to find it. It was in about 10 ft of water. Got a rope on the front wheel on the first try and pulled it out with the tractor. It looked like a dredge. Got it hosed off and took it to the dealer.    Called the insurance company so we’ll see if they’ll cover acts of stupidity

At least my phone in my pocket didn’t get ruined.

:facepalm

I have always said for years that for all of these "contingent" lawsuits where the attorney only gets paid if they win, the claimant's attorney should pay all of the defendants attorney fee's, expert witnesses, court costs etc... if they lose. That would stop a whole bunch of BS lawsuits if they had skin in the game. Now it is a numbers game. If they have 10 of them and hit big on one it pays for all 10 plus a new yacht for all the partners.

(1) Well, the culling of the herd took a bit longer than expected.

Over 1,000 followers and almost as many non-followers have been sent to limbo.

You see, I live in a paradox: I cannot tolerate intolerance, and this week I witnessed a singular display of intolerance's appeal.

(2) In case you have been in Mars, I am talking about the latest shenanigans of Andrew McMaster.
Perhaps you know him as Paul Harris, or Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, or Steven Lennon, or, perchance, Tommy Robinson.

This @#$hole.
(3) What name he’ll be using next week is anybody’s guess.

You see, in the life of a criminal the use of multiple aliases is a professional characteristic, especially among conmen.

And a criminal he is.
(4) Born in 1982 by 2003 he began his criminal record.

Sentenced to 12 months for assaulting an off duty police officer.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10389954/Who-is-the-real-Tommy-Robinson.html

(5) By 2010 he was becoming well known in English courts.

Not as an activist, mind you, but as a hooligan.

He was arrested after a brawl between the fans of Luton Town and Newport County.

(6) He was the leader of the Luton hooligans and reportedly started the melée that ended up being a 100 man toss up.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-14278957

(7) A few months later he received a sentence of 12 months community service, 150 hours of unpaid work, a 3-year ban on football activities and payment of 650 quid in damages. He was also banned from attending demonstrations.

(8) He did not give a crap, and a year later was arrested for violating that ban by participating in a romp organized by him, through his baby, EDL, of which more anon.

(9) Breaching bail is not good in England or anywhere else, so he was sent to the Pokey. Bedford Prison. He there started a “hunger strike” proclaiming himself a “political prisoner.”
https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/news/crime/edl-leader-on-hunger-strike-in-custody-1-3028437

(10) He’s no Gandhi. The publicity stunt, I mean, hunger strike, lasted all of … 24 hours. His fascist group EDL, staged demonstrations outside Bedford. All 100 of them. Of course, all of this circus was 48 hourse before his scheduled release.
https://www.bedfordtoday.co.uk/news/edl-tommy-released-from-prison-in-bedford-and-on-bail-for-assault-1-3054299

(11) Two weeks later, he was convicted again. This time, assault.

Ironically, he assaulted a fellow storm trooper. Maybe beer got in the way. 12 week jail sentence, suspended for a year.

(12) No matter, he then went international, and was arrested for trespassing and vandalism in Zurich, earning a 3,000 dollar fine and three days in the cooler.
https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/news/video-edl-members-hold-prison-protest-1-3034025

(13) In the British “Police State” going to prison is anything but easy.

Two years later, he resigned the leadership of EDL (10/2013), after staging a couple of videos to claim he was “fighting Nazis.”

The same ones demonstrating for his release in 2011.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-lancashire-15117961

(14) Later in 2013, he was arrested again for ENTERING THE US ILLEGALLY.

Yep, Tommy the #$@back!

(15) He did so using a FALSE PASSPORT, and was eventually sentenced in Southwark Court under the name Stephen Lennon, though the judge noted that was probably not his real name.

Back to the pokey he went, but no hunger strikes this time.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-20935502

 (16) Released in February  2013 with an electronic tag, he was quick to the front of BBC cameras, again claiming he was fighting Nazis in EDL and “trying to calm things down.

Sure. Like he was calming people down in this one in 2012:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q29xw7qIM0

(17) I forgot, 2012 was not a good year for the creep.

He was also tried, found guilty and sentenced for mortgage fraud.

He pleaded guilty to two of the three charges in 2013, and in 2014 was sentenced AGAIN to 18 months in the Clink. Woodhill prison.

 (18) While there, he claimed to have been assaulted by 3 Muslim inmates but NOBODY, not the prison authorities, not the newspaper that reported it (International Business Times) nor anyone else was ever able to confirm it.
Not even a band-aid.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/jan/23/edl-founder-tommy-robinson-jailed-mortgage-fraud

(19) Why would we not believe such an honest, upright citizen stirring anti-Muslim hatred?

No idea.

Look at the creep in an interview: bigotry and fear mongering. That's why.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q96elyZaxq8

(20) After six months (Oh! The police state again), he was released on condition that he not have contact with EDL until the end of his sentence.

Easy, right?

He did not like those Nazis anyway!

What could go wrong?

(21) A rally with EDL at Oxford Union that sent him back to prison for…breaking the terms of his parole.

That could go wrong.

And the “police state” released him, yet again, after only two months.

(22) We are now in November 2014. He continued to go to rallies and claim that he had “no freedom of speech” and could not address certain issues until 22 july 2015.

Claiming no freedom of speech while talking at rallies...that's rich.

(23) That did not keep him from spinning a new con:

British prisons are training camps for ISIS, polititians tolerate crimes by Muslims and all the garbage he’s been perfecting since.

(24) His diatribe against Islam and Muslims continued to grow ever more violent. In Good Morning Britain, Piers Morgan retorted:

"You’re stirring up hatred like a bigoted lunatic."

Piers has a tendency sometimes to state the obvious

(25) Soon, Tommy got into...another brawl!

The violent man who denounces Muslim violence…

We can see here how he was "viciously attacked."
 https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/tommy-robinson-edl-leader-ascot-brawl-fight-muslim-islamophobia-piers-morgan-a7807341.html

(26) But the con was running its course, and he needed a new prop.

In 2017, he became a “reporter” for “Rebel Media” a Nazi outfit with a colorful story, maybe in another thread, and suddenly took notice of child rape.  I bet you he did not protest this:
independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/…

(27) You see, some folks have been seriously confronting a wave of attacks by gangs, (Muslims, Catholics, Anglicans, Atheists, from all over the world, if you care to look), but his focus was on a trial in Canterbury.

(28) Now, these animals had already been CAUGHT and were being TRIED.

Tommy boy was not there to raise awareness, he was there to raise hell AND jeopardize the trial in the process.
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/former-edl-leader-tommy-robinson-arrested-after-trying-to-film-muslims-outside-court-a3535566.html

(29) And he NEW he was breaking the law and the terms of his suspended sentence. HE DID IT ON PURPOSE. Why? Publicity, of course.

Repeated warning by police went unheeded, and he was finally arrested, tried and convicted.
https://www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/far-right-activist-tommy-robinson-422423

(30) In the US you cannot take pictures inside the courtroom.
In England, you cannot do that in the Courthouse.
For valid reasons.
But Tommy was on a mission EVEN IF IT LED TO A MISTRIAL AND THE RELEASE OF THE PERVERTS. Probably what he wanted.
The ends justify the means.

(31) In spite of Tommy’s efforts, ALL the pervs were convicted.
ALL OF THEM.
But Tommy missed it, because he was in court, yet again, and the “police state” gifted him a “suspended sentence” yet again; and he broke the terms of that suspension, yey again.

(32) By doing the same thing in another court.

Harassing witnesses and jurors.

I have already posted the judge’s writ at his sentencing. Find it.

(33) And then, a s@#$storm of imbecilities flooded Twitter, started by Nazi supporters of this vermin using a vocabulary that appealed to a wider audience.

Freedom of Speech!
Police state!
Rape!

Bulls#$@.

(34)  If you do not wail for the freedom of this penny ante hooligan, you support child rape, censorship and meningitis, and people swallowed it whole.

A depressing display of laziness and the effectiveness of propaganda.

(more about that in a couple of days)

(35) Even, regrettably, people I otherwise respect, like Roseanne, who would never support a hatemonger knowingly.

Even the sons of friends whom I respect and admire, reacting emotionally to an appeal as false as it is insidious.

(36) Me?
I believe the vermin who rape children, being Muslims, Honduran Catholics, Baptists or Agnostics, ought to be skinned alive.

I do not focus on a putative group of perpetrators, but on the crime and the individuals who commit them.

(37) And criminals include Tommy boy.
The repeat felon.
The criminal piece of garbage peddling hate and distracting authorities and courts from a more useful purpose.
And jeopardizing the trials of rapist vermin for a few quid.

I ran premium in my 6.2L so better fuel I think helps hp (at least in my mind, lol), not sure what they recommend though.

JR may be on to something, I haven't looked at GM truck sales figures lately but a year ago they were dismal & declining. Part of that stumped me when I was trying to buy as they should have been willing to deal quicker than they were when I was looking. It's hard to get one dealer anymore to drop much below another. They are all pretty well on the same page as far as pricing, I blame the internet and technology for that as I think it is controlled pretty tight from the top anymore. The only thing I have really been able to do in recent years is to get them to throw in extras at the particular dealership such as extended oil changes & warranties. You know the other freebies when you start fine tuning a deal. My mom's lesbaru I was able to get her an extra $500 in oil changes and $1000 towards things like weather tec floor mats etc. Her's was a lesbaru corporate unit with 6K on it.

Lesburu... too funny. I think the biggest drawback for the Denali is it doesn't come in red.

My current company, we build 90% of the product in house, even the Ground Support Equipment is built in house and we test every component in house.  Getting Raw material became such a problem we just finished building our own Foundry and Forge.

Your company is definitely a shining light on many things that use to be USA excellence. Love to hear that.

One sad story in my industry is Qualcomm now Omnitracs. They used to build all of the Satellite tracking and communications equipment we used in trucking that started in the early 90's. You would buy an outdoor unit and they said it should last for 3 years and it would last for 6 or 7 without any issues. Built rugged to handle all the weather and vibrations on being on the road 24X7. Since they sold off the unit and moved to Dallas area they outsource everything and it comes from Asia. We will be lucky if we get 3 years out of the units. But hey.. they are $700.00 a unit now instead of $2400.00! Yippy

I'll chime in.

My wife has driven a 2005 Nissan Armada since it was new. It now has 190K miles. We are religious about maintenance on it but it has paid off. Other than brakes and normal wear items we haven't had to do anything else. It has a strong V8 and the transmission shifts as well as it did new. The electronics and interior has held up really well. I have been worried about the miles so I was asking her what new car she wanted. She kept coming back to the Armada. Looking at a year or two old one with under 20K they are $50K. Ouch.

In my younger years I always got tired of a vehicle before I ever needed to sell so never drove anything much over 100K. I did have a 2004 Duramax that had 130K when I sold it. I would have kept it except for the electrical problems it developed.

My 2008 Duramax LMM has been pretty solid but only 114K miles. Replaced one injector, couple of glow plugs, brakes, front end spindles, and normal maintenance. Not too bad. Will probably keep it until it starts to give me problems even though it is expensive for a daily driver asphalt queen.

Thanks for all the prayers guys. It indeed helps. I thought I would be done in January after my surgery and chemo/radiation in October of last year. When they did the follow up PET scan they found that the cancer had metastasized to my lungs and bone area in my lower spine and right  hip. Lucky ME! they said they only see this in 5% of the people that have my type of Cancer.  :knucklehead:

So they immediately set me up with 3 rounds of heavy Chemo over 9 weeks and then PET scanned again in April after those to see how it did. Great news there was the bone and spine ones were "resolved" or gone and the lung spots had shrunken to a point they almost couldn't measure them. So the Chemo is working so very positive. So I will keep my Kojak hairdo for a couple more months and hopefully in July get the all clear that I was looking for in January.

It really isn't all that bad when you compare it to all of the human suffering that goes on in the world and what injured Vets have to put up with when they come back. I have the best healthcare team on the planet at Mayo and when I see some of the crap like the Arizona VA it just boils my blood. Abject shame.

Also when it rains it pours. I was in Boise last weekend to visit my Mom. A month ago she was diagnosed with terminal Pancreas and Liver Cancer. So they give her about 3 to 6 months to live. So please throw a prayer in for her also that she can manage her pain and have a somewhat dignified end of life.

Bummer out! :)

Starting the fourth round of Chemo today. After this one hopefully only two more to go after today. Then another PET scan mid July and hope for all clear. If not rinse and repeat.

I'm in the wrong line of work. Cost is outrageous. We passed our family contributions for the year in March. All in minus meds deductions equal meds @ $12 k per year. Thank God I don't have to pay it all. I totaled up just of the bills and over $250K. Not including the Chemo treatments.

Thanks

As I looked on, all I could think of was the last words Jesus ever spoke as a human, "It is done."

Somehow it felt like that.

THis project was just immense. I do not recommend anyone tackle this unless you have patience, a spare vehicle, a week+ of long days, and did I mention patience?

Congrats! Man that was a process. I would have had a large diesel fire in my garage on day two I think. Patience of a saint.

Nate, I work in St Cloud but live south of there.  :beercheers:

that's what I thought, my family is just SE of you a little bit.

If you ever make it up this direction let me know. The lights always on if you need a place to stay. :)

Hand Tools, Power Tools, Welders, etc / Re: Bench vise stand
« on: May 02, 2018, 07:46:01 AM »
Nate, I'm probably no help but I have my vise mounted to my welding table. It is over 800# so I have beat the snot out of anything in the vise without it moving. It also depends on how big your vise is and what you will use it for. Just holding stuff the post would probably be ok. If you want to heat stuff and then use it as an anvil then the table or bench would be the way to go.

Is that one of those DR rakes?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yep. DR Rake. Craigslist find. I have two old Duramax Batteries for weight and electric. It used to have a cord attached to lower and raise. I now have a remote that will move it up and down. Works pretty good. Charge will last all summer.

I have a three point hitch accessory kit for my tractor that is still in the box. I normally have the backhoe attached. Hopefully the snow drifts are gone for the season so I will put the FEL bucket back on and the backhoe for the summer.

Great weather here the past two days. Finally dried out enough to take care of the potholes in my driveway

Dragged it about 20 times.

Turned out pretty good. Will need to do it several more times after driven on a few times.

Most Favored Companies / Re: Costco for Eyeglasses
« on: April 23, 2018, 03:51:59 PM »
I have purchased probably 6 pairs of glasses through https://www.zennioptical.com over the past couple of years.

You can get a good pair for under $100.00 and they ship fast. From China but basically the same as you get here.

The only quirk is that you have to measure your PD (pupillary distance https://www.zennioptical.com/measuring-pd-infographic ) between your eyes which isn't included in a typical prescription.

I have one semi corrected eye via a botched cataract surgery and one un corrected eye so I have to order two pairs of glasses and combine the lenses to make one pair because they are too off of a prescription and Zenni won't make that pair.

All in all good.

Tires, Wheels, and Suspension / Re: All Terrain Tires for the Duramax
« on: April 19, 2018, 04:01:14 PM »
What’s the load rating on those bfg’s? Just curious I always thought of them as a light duty tire.
These are load rating E. Max load of 3525 which is more than the Toyo’s I just took off.

These are so much quieter.

I'd be so very interested in seeing how these BFG AT's behave over time.

I would have had them installed when I picked up the MT's except for

1. The fact that I am driving in mud or off road every week

2. The less that 1/2" of tread depth

Shallow tread has nothing to do with deep mud traction. and that grizzly locker of mine (Which I love and btw, thanks again Tate!) eats tires for breakfast lunch and dinner!

Please keep us posted.

I'm thinking a monthly reading and assessment should work nicely...So...Git er done!

You got it! :beercheers:
