I thought I saw that they had already selected a site and started building. There is an article at Fox that states the following:

"lready under construction is a new U.S. "consulate annex" in Jerusalem, which is believed to be more secure than the current embassy in Tel Aviv. Although senior administration officials said there was no facility currently ready for personnel to move into.".

So I this has been in the works for a while and will continue to put leverage on the Palestinians.

I like it

Update: Where to begin...

Patch: the lift pump died. I took the doors off Patch and put them on a club cab gasser, and have been using that. Patch has been resting comfortably while life keeps me busy, so it's future is uncertain.

Anvil: got a lot more use this summer. Like 10k miles or so. Other than a recently developed small injection pump leak, it has done all that's been asked of it.

Kay's Mustang got the most attention. Autocross, drags, just driving..lots of subtle under the skin suspension mods, just drove it to church yesterday. Winter being almost here I imagine it will get little use now tell spring. Kays been making noise of selling it and buying a Vette....who knows with her. It has a whopping 6k miles or so on it these days.

Kay and her oldest daughter bought a 2015 Crew Cab Eco Boost F150 4x4.... it's almost everything I despise in a truck.. heated seats/leather, gadgets, technology. It gets the worst mileage towing of any vehicle I have owned EVER. Short little box on it makes it a girly truck. It does have 34.5" rubber, a locking rear axle and despite it's appetite for fuel when towing....it can haul 10K lbs at 75 mph rather easily.  It's growing on me a little....

The newest member of the fleet is a 1981 Chevy Standard cab heavy K10. Complete with a nice functional steel flat bed, a 383 small block and a 4speed. It needs a flywheel to be driven....so maybe soon I will have a chance to make that happen and then who knows what we will do with it. The plan as of now is to make it run and sell it. Before Kay gets any ideas and decides she needs a Cummins powered Chevy.

I have an entire house tore apart in the middle of dry walling/electrical upgrades/flooring I am suppose to be working on. Too many irons in the fire ATM

In the addition to all the above going on, I am trying to find time to put together a new "shop" in a building in town. Roughly 28' x 35' Nice flat floor, large garage door and lighting...its basically bare. I need to wire up a welder outlet, put a air compressor in there and I suppose I could get some work done. We did move some of the tool/equipment down there a few weeks ago. At the moment it's keeping Anvil and the Chevy out of the weather...that's about it.

Well Norm I'm glad to see you haven't slowed down any. Nice to see you on here again!

823058 is the Lowes item number to a product similar to the moist stop i use. I got mine at McCoys but can not find it on their site. I would have to actually feel the Lowes product to see how similar it is but it will work for the framing under the windows to flash the sill before windows go in and hardi goes on. It will also work on hardi joints. I have seen everything used from tar paper to synthetic roof felt on to and including metal tin or aluminum flashing. I just like the black roll flashing. I do not use house wrap as a flashing. You could also use many of the sticky window tapes also but they get expensive and are overkill.
I have never used or seen anyone use the sheers. I saw those and thought they were for the metal roof. If you like them let me know and i will give them a shot. I just use a diablo hardi saw blade. I try to never have a cut joint showing. I can get them perfectly square but if you look at the factory joint it has a very slight bevel. I hide all cuts under trim.
On the nails yes you can nail every 16” or 32” revealed. Or any pattern you want.  The hardi holds tight under all the trim and with proper nails hidden under the lap. But, i always reveal nail my joints and any irregularity that needs a nail to suck the siding down. Too many nails showing looks bad. It will sort of dimple the piece and will have a nail to caulk. The goal is a perfectly flat wall without any waves.
I also use interior/exterior liquid nails. It holds tight to hardi and i use it on trim pieces that i would shatter with more than one nail. If it oozes out spread the ooze and paint it or caulk over it and paint.
If you use a saw keep the guard blown off with air. The dust clogs its function and before you know it it no longer covers the blade and the saw takes off when you set it down. The saw is fast and allows me to cut a six piece stack at a time. It is however very dusty so wind to my back and cut. No wind and i am working on another area of the house as the dust is overwhelming at times.

I have to give it to Jared if you are typing all of this on a PHONE!! I can't hardly type my email address correctly. Great content!  :beercheers:

Our first had Colic and Gerd. She was fine the first three weeks then all broke loose. She would cry constantly. Wife breast fed. We tried noise and vibration machine attached to crib to swings to you name it.  For 4 months we would basically walk circles around the living room with her on our forearm face down to get her to stop crying. Then we had a recliner where we had a Sears canisters vacuum running right next to it while she slept. It ran so long in the same place it stained a spot where the engine exhaust the engine dust.

That was the only way she would sleep. I would work during the day and then when I got home the wife would go to bed until midnight and I would switch.

We vowed not to have another kid. Lol. Didn't happen.

After the colic she was still very sensitive so we had to put up some bifold doors in front of her crib so we could commando crawl in to check on her without her seeing us. If she saw us it would be another 3 hour ordeal to get her back to sleep.

Try walking with them on your forearm face down. That worked. Got rid of the baby fat too. Lol

We also tried many other vacuums not wanting to burn out the big one but it had to be the Sears canister or she would sleep in the recliner.

Good luck

Here is an actual, not staged, shot of her holding things together prior to tacking. Saw this and had a flashback...I thought I was downtown Kandahar looking at a woman or a sack of rice...Appearances are similar.

She fears the sparks!

Well she has had close encounters with carnage like motorcycle wheelies and who know what else most likely developed a healthy dose of self survival when in the Big D operating area. Even with the potential of losing some fashion flair.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: Thank Goodness!
« on: September 02, 2017, 02:47:10 PM »
I really like Dinesh D'Souza for a lot of reasons....first he's an academic, so his research is really thorough. Nothing like facts to blow holes in liberal talking points. Second, he's an immigrant, so for the libs who like to portray lovers of America as being old white guys from Europe or rednecks its hard for them to put him in this category (not that it stops them from trying!). Plus he is just so calm when he speaks. I love Anne Coulter and Michelle Malkin for their rhetoric some times but Dinesh is just so calm and collected.

(As an aside I LOVED how he dealt with the question of giving land back to Indians. And it can be used so many ways today- at a student lecture a native American woman said the US needed to give back the land to the Indians that they took. He asked her what tribe she was part of (and I forget specifically and will bastardize his response so I am sorry). She said Cherokee (or something)....so he asked her "you think the US Government should give back the land to the Cherokee that they took". She of course said "yes". So he said "well are you going to give it back to the Iroquois that your tribe took it from? And will the Iroquois give it back to the Mohawks who they took it from? And will the Mohawks give it back to....." you can see where he went with this. Of course she had no answer. It has similar "uses" today- just the other day we saw LA rename Christopher Columbus day as "Indigenous People" day. Everything referenced the "native" Latinos there. Oh....so they are ignoring the Gabrielinos who met the Spanish explorers to the area. Or the Chumash, or Tataviam people. Its all such hypocrisy! )

I also finished One Second After a few weeks ago and grim is right. I found it amazingly thorough- there was the stuff I have spent a lot of time thinking/planning about- food preps, no power, etc. But the societal aspects (large numbers of folks coming off psych meds etc.) that really opened my eyes to more things (yeah, I need a LOT more ammo! yeesh! ).

Need more ammo!  CHECK

I have been looking at home brew insulin. It has been done to my amazement in 1922.

I need a centrifuge. Keeping my eye out for that.

Again, hope it doesn't come to that.

Great points TRN.

I think like most Americans I am not an historian and unfortunately until the last several years didn't really pay much attention to politics or history. I was at a High School soccer game last night and during the playing of the National Athem I noticed how many of the players and young kids were facing the flag but didn't have their hand on their heart and not really paying attention or respect.

Back to history. Not sure if any of you have read books or seen the movies by Dinesh D'Souza but I just finished his "Big Lie" book and it again was very eye opening of our history.
https://www.amazon.com/Big-Lie-Exposing-Roots-American/dp/1621573486/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504268924&sr=8-1&keywords=dinesh+d%27souza
In his books he lays out all of the history that hasn't been taught over the last 50 years.

I started with his "America, Imagine a World without America"
https://www.amazon.com/America-Imagine-World-without-Her/dp/162157203X/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1504268924&sr=8-5&keywords=dinesh+d%27souza
This really lays out all of the things that are exceptional about the history of America and why it is so special. Also how much good we have done over the years that the Liberals and Progressives want to suppress.

Then I read this one about his persecution by the judges and prosecutors for a $20K donation to a political campaign. You compare what he went through and the absolute corruption in DC and it is amazing.
https://www.amazon.com/Stealing-America-Experience-Criminal-Democratic/dp/0062366718/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1504268924&sr=8-6&keywords=dinesh+d%27souza

Then I read and watched the movie "Hillary's America" It was also eye opening about the Democratic party as well as her long criminal career in politics. It really is unfathomable how anyone would want to place that woman in the White House if even 10% of this is true.
https://www.amazon.com/Hillarys-America-Secret-History-Democratic/dp/1621573478/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1504268924&sr=8-4&keywords=dinesh+d%27souza

Then in the theme of Harvey I read "1 second after" about a small town in North Carolina and how they (or don't) survive a Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) attack. Reading TRN comments about gasoline and generator is spot on as far as his security and preparedness plan. It also hit home when the main character in the book has a type1 diabetic daughter. All the challenges of getting and keeping insulin and it running out. How to you home brew insulin!? You don't. What was impressionable was how fast it gets bad and how long it is predicted that help would come even in the minimal way of getting MRE's to people so they stop eating their pets and quit starving to death. Pretty grim.

It is a very good read and hopefully a scenario that we will never need to deal with.

https://www.amazon.com/Second-After-John-Matherson-Novel/dp/0765356864/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1504269859&sr=1-1&keywords=1+second+after+book

I currently have Toyo Open Country on mine and will need to change them out in a couple of months. I'm a pavement pounder so I don't need the lugs. They started with 16.67mm of tread and now they are at a little under 6mm with only 29,000 miles. That is terrible in my book for easy driving on pavement.

I will be going back to BFG T/A KO2 305/65R18  $340.97 per tire but right now until end of December they have a mail in rebate of $60 for the set. Still expensive but if I can get 45,000 mile out of them vs 30,000 on the Toyo and much less squirm and road noise I think I will be happier. Before the Toyo's I always ran BFG's and was happy with them.

For kids eating we are along the same track as TRN. Wide variety of healthy foods at each meal and they had to try it. Wife kept putting the same stuff in front of them and it was interesting to see what they didn't like a year ago all of a sudden they like it and request it. Taste definitely change. My oldest is female and she is a very healthy eater. Found out she is type 1 diabetic this year so it is great she already thinks about what she eats. Youngest child is male and he is still a little more picky than sister. Even at 16. He is in sports so always hungry.

We never were clean your plate club and they have always maintained good body weight. Always had good snacks on hand so chips weren't the easiest to grab. Our biggest problem is fast food due to time crunch and it's easy. Daughter doesn't eat it but son like Taco Bell and McDonalds. That's a problem.

Having a girl and boy 4 years apart we never let them hit or even wrestle much. Looking back it would have been better to have supervised aggression.

Good luck.

TRN. Not sure if you have seen this but on the Xtreme Off Road show he is modifying a LR Defender 90.

He is putting a Jeep JK frame underneath and 1 ton axles. He is keeping it right hand drive and shows how easy it is to put the steering box on the JK Frame because they were also sold as right hand drive.

Not sure you want to go as deep as he is doing but if the frame on that one is all rusted out it might be good to start with a JK frame and build up.

Well it is close but Texas still beats MN even if it is per capita.

Minnesota has major hots spots. St Cloud near me has 4 Mosques for total pop of 68K.

Texas had 302 Mosques as of 2015. Population of 27.86 Million equals a 1.08 Mosque per 100K of people ratio.
Minnesota had 47 Mosques as of 2015. Population of 5.52 Million equals a 0.85 Mosque per 100K of people ratio.

http://islamthreat.com/images/mosque-2015.jpg

California and New York are just ahead of Texas.

Now if you calculate the ratio based on Texas stars, Shapes of the State and America Flags visible anywhere you go.... Yes.. Texas would smash MN. LOL

Oh.. and I'm not much of a fan of MN. Just happen to live here now.

With pictures of everything yummy the DOT's were not very supportive..

But I do think it is what makes you happy. I am currently on my second round of No Sugar/No Carbs diet. Weight 270# and over 9 months on the diet went down to 215#. Then had 6 inches of my colon removed and down to 200#. Then packed holes in my belly for two months and eating whatever I liked back up to 225#. Year later back up to 255#. Now back on the diet for two weeks down to 244#. I give all the credit to my wife. She fixes my lunch and dinners and I just eat only what's put in front of me. Goal is to get back to that 210# range. My kids said I look unhealthy at 215# but they haven't really ever know me at that weight. The thing for me about the No Sugar/No Carb diet is the Ketosis aspect. I only loose when I'm are in Ketosis. IF you CHEAT you go out of Ketosis and it takes me three days to get back into Ketosis. The only problem I had the first time was severe cramping on legs and feet when trying to relax (sleep). No I have been taking Potassium and that seems to be stopping the cramping. We will see.

I can still eat like a caveman with salads thrown in there and not hungry all the time at all. So this works for me. Just have to apply discipline ongoing once get to my ideal weight.
