Mixer is HF 3 1/2 cu ft. On sale and with a coupon was less than$200. It barely mixes two 80 on bags. Perfect mix is one 80 and one 60. 3 1/2 is completely upright volume which is worthless as a measurement.  So far so good. I've estimated that I have mixed about 3.5 yards of concrete total. And yes. My total red neck engineering. No YouTube. Got the inside form on the down hill side done today. Will take 20 bags of #80 to finish. The walls and base are 5 1/2 inch thick. It will give me 19ft between the culverts that will handle an H25 load.

Thanks. I have some small concrete jobs I need to do and that sounds like it will do the trick. All of the Craigslist tow behind mixers have been worn out and still expensive.

Looking good.

Aluminum soup = BAD.. ouch.

Mine has all of it's fluids. The 100k service was at a Ford dealer so maybe they sabotaged it... LOL. Just joking.

It has all new brakes, rotors and calipers within 20K miles. New Right Front Axle  at 92821. It had the Rear drive shaft slip yoke replaced at 57431 miles. So lots of near new parts. Hmmm

Thanks for all of the advice. I will keep an eye on it and see if it gets worse.

Ken, that is what I have been chasing for sure. I might have to take it to a drive shaft shop and have them check for balance. The Dealership said they took it out and checked it but who knows HOW they checked it? Rolled it down the driveway?  :knucklehead:

It is just has to be a harmonic thing if it is only around 60 mph and only if you have throttle on. I had my 100K service done not too long ago and wondered if they forgot to put rear Diff fluid back in. Might have to check that tonight.

Things that make you go Mmmmm

When finished it will have dirt compacted all the way up to the top and then rip rap all around. No chance of debris making it hard to find. If I get it done right there should be little if any debris. I have created a graded area all along that side of the drive that is doing a good job directing water. I lined it with 3x5 riprap and it seems to be doing well. Once I'm done with the culvert and main drainage then I get to finish the other 600 ft of drive with roadbase to eliminate erosion.

Cruise, do you have a one or two piece driveshaft?

TRN- I have a one piece driveshaft.

Jon - The dealer said they took off the driveshaft and checked it along with all of the U joints. I have no leaks from any seals. It is also only when applying power at the 58 to 60 mph range. If you let off the throttle and coast it goes away. Tightening / replacing the leaf spring U Bolts while good to know and do didn't seem to effect it. I'm thinking it might be as simple as tires. They are getting into the 6/32 range they are siped so they might be squirrely. I'm going to replace them at the end of the summer so we will see if the vibration gets worse until then or something blows. LOL

Thanks for thinking about it.

Long story but I have been trying to figure out why I have a vibration and rumble sound when I apply power at around 58 - 60 mph. I checked all driveline I could. The dealer had it last week and found loose u bolts on the leaf springs on the passenger side. So after having to heat up they were able to tighten. That didn't fix the issue. So this morning I was under and checked the driver side. They were loose also. Not sure why the dealer didn't catch those as well. I used some WD40 rust penetrant and when they didn't budge put a little heat on and tried with breaker bar. Broke it off. Grrr.

So quick trip to O'Reillys auto parts and picked up new U Bolts. I broke off two others and one with persuasion backed off. I wish it would have just broke. It took forever and a lot of sweat to get the one off.

Two installed and tightened up. Test drove and still have the 60 vibration. I think it might be tires. Hard to say.

Passenger side with dealer tightened.

Driver side with new bolts.

Nice addition to the family Dawg! I used to have a four on the floor rule that lasted for years and several dogs. Our current blonde lab doesn't have that rule for some reason...  I'm getting old a soft I guess. So now she has destroyed a leather couch from laying on top of the back cushions... but hey.. I can always get a new couch. Man's best friend is forever.. or most time not long enough.

Enjoy!

About to Uber over to a really snooty French restaurant for some over priced plates with way too little food on them.  Flowers are waiting on the table for when we arrive.   I think I'll ask for a budweiser longneck to see if they'll kick me out....
Congrats TRN. 27 years is a good thing these days. Enjoy

Build Threads / Re: Equipment Trailer Build
« on: June 23, 2017, 09:12:39 AM »
The reason I went with the Kubota BX25 was the backhoe. I have a Toro Zero turn for mowing and it works much better than a Tractor. The Kubota with a backhoe was right at $22K.

I probably use the backhoe more than the front loader. I have a thumb on it and I pick up fallen tree's to buck up, railroad ties, large boulders, digging out huge oak tree stumps..(granted it takes a long time - would rather have an excavator LOL) pulling down ropes or other stuff. I also made up a receiver hitch that I attached to the bucket and tried to move my 20' steel car hauler trailer but going down the little hill it pushed the Kubota all  over. I had to pick up a load of dirt in the front loader to add front ballast.

I use the front loader for spreading gravel and moving dirt from one pile to another and just general hauling like firewood but that's about it.

I  haven't run into lack of power issues but you can always want/need move hydraulic lifting power. The backhoe arm is much more powerful than the FEL.

My 2cts.

So you bought an Excavator, and have decried that is shall be named "Chief" and expect it to do work.. Now I might have been a lowly grunt, but EVERY Warrant Officer ever seen (reportedly there are Warrants in most duty stations) in the Military avoid work at all costs... so by Military logic you'll get Chief to the farm, and it will soon disappear due to some reason or another... only to re-appear after work has been completed.
Hmmmm...

Hadn't considered that...

Chief is the name, has to be

The dump truck will be called "The General" so that pretty much covers everything

Already named the computer "LT" because it always gives me bad information

Named my DR-650, "Captn" because it thinks it is much larger and more capable. Had an angry dog named "Major" once, but I shot it because it was so mean! I refer to the kids as my privates...No body knows what a corporal is, and all the sergeant ranks just confuse and seem to repeat themselves.

Chief, like the Warrant Ossifer, is different...very different. But I had forgotten that skirten' all the hard work thing...
Or you could do like Obummer and just get rid of all ranks and let it Identify with whatever rank (name) it likes.

Oh. I would use and abuse <---- that's a given and create a winter to do list as suggested.

Looks like a great find and I'm sure you will keep it in fuel!

Great use for a F150^^^^^

Best looking ford I have seen for some time.

Guys, I need some tech help. I have not changed a thing and photobucket is blocked in firefox. I also have defender and malware anti-exploit, but again no changes I have done.

JR, Photobucket most likely changed to not allow viewing if someone is using an Ad Blocker add in to their browser. I have Firefox and most likely got the same message. You can go into your Defender and white list or allow the photobucket domain. Something like this.

Very nice job! Glad to see she is coming around and also you found your swivel socket.. Too funny.  :beercheers:

I remember that fuel tank valve on mine that I had. They did have a habit of going out so I would always fill both tanks and then run off of the secondary tank and if the valve went out you still had the other. Still a pain. It did come in handy one time out on the back dirt roads when I "pretended" to run out of gas with the GF along.. She thought we were stranded out in the middle of no where. LOL not too happy when I flipped the switch and fired it up. The old reliable 350.

You are breathing back years of life back into it. Nice!
