Andrew Budek
« on: April 14, 2019, 09:22:04 PM »
So today, I got this friend request on facebook. I am not a fan of the liberal leaning place, so with usual fashion, I clicked on the fellow's name and followed the links to his page and read something of him.

It became immediately evident that he was a writer, a patriot, a warrior, and is dying from pancreatic cancer.

Then I noticed a personal message from him. Although we may have crossed paths in some area of conflict, he was not sure but he wanted to know if I was the author of Distant Thunder.

He wrote how the book had personally affected him and helped him in some ways retain his humanity and deal with the disease and his relationships. It humbled me to think that anything I may have written would have done anything so noble as to inspire a seriously ill man in a positive manner. I truly believe that everything good in me (us) is of God, and we really ain't all that much to brag about.

But that means something of an even greater magnitude, that God is using us!

So I want to lift up Andrew, but for what, I do not know. Could be healing, could be for a deeper understanding of the spirit, or ease in passing, or no pain, or...or I just don't know yet.

I do know that the spirit is prompting me to pursue, so I will. Meantime, men, hit your knees pretty please and lift up this man. A community of men, praying for a man.

We’re to witness the gospel to all who show an interest.

We cannot know whom God has chosen, but we proclaim the Word knowing that He may use us in some small way in the effectual calling

Will add him to my prayers

Thanks men.

I have been emailing back and forth with him. He is not doing so well. Extreme pain, fever, tumors growing fast, not a good time. We talk about spiritual things, and I am sharing things I have written to cheer him up (if possible)

He is a warrior himself, long gun guy, and an author who has published three books.

A bit of a loner, he just needs a friend and whatever I/anyone can offer in the way of a comforting word. Sobering...

Please pass this along to him Don:

Andrew, thank you for your service to his Country and the sacrifices you've made in all of our behalf in protecting our Liberty and Freedoms granted us by the Constitution you swore to uphold and defend.  You put yourself in harms way and many citizens of this grateful Nation are in debt to you for that.  Please know that you are being lifted up in prayer by many of us here at RealMan multiple times throughout the day(s).

The only gift that I can bestow upon you that is worthy of the sacrifices that you've made, isn't even mine to give - Salvation through the blood of Christ - a free gift available to all who are willing to admit that we are a sinner, and accept Gods free gift of life everlasting.  One must only ask Christ to come into their lives, deliver them from their sins and accept his gift of salvation.  Life everlasting through Christ's redemption on the cross.  I suspect that you may have already done so, but it never hurts to remind ourselves of this glorious gift!

I pray that you find relief from all that troubles you and that our prayers for you, strengthen and bless you-  May you be lifted up upon the wings of eagles and soar free from pain and worry and hear the words directly from Christ, "well done, my good and faithful servant - rest easy, your watch is done."  For all that may be causing you worry - lay it at Christ's feet and release all stress about it - he will take care of it all!

Tonight:

It means a lot, more than I can say, and I can feel the prayers. DOn't
know how to describe that.

Yeah, got tumours in the lungs, and if I'm in the wrong poition I
can't get air and start fading. The dogs (4-service-dog-team) will
roll me upright, and if needed do CPR, which consists of having a
100-lb Pit jump up and down on my chest while barking.

A PD in Brazil has trained a Cane Corso to o this. There's a video out there.

It's terrifying. Not the thought of death, but the process, like
having a Draeger go south on a deep dive.

Reday to go if I have to, but I don't want to. I like the fight, and
the challenge of seeing how much more of the hurt I can take.

Chief where is Mr Budek located? Hospital in cincy? House in northern KY? Our Lord knows where he is, but I’d like to hone in a bit a focus area, likewise to enable the bodies around him if in hospital.

It’s hard to read his words, there just seems to be so much fight left in him, he’d make a great warrior for God.

T-
He lives in a remote spot in New Mexico, something akin to my farm. Lives there with his wife and a bunch of stray dogs and cats I believe

So, I feel like there is a connection between him and all of us. I am going to try and bring him here. I think there are things for us to learn from him and comfort that we can bring to him.

Should I be successful, it will be a sobering, sit you up-right in your chair experience and very real. Having a frank conversation with a man such as this where you can openly discuss deep things is really what this forum is at its core, about.

I am lifting him up many times a day. And in doing so, I feel the subtle nudge of the messenger. I think this is the right thing to do. Perhaps a prayer to set my course right with respect to all of this so that I lead us in the right direction.

Poem he wrote, sent it to me last night:

And now I see it clearly;
it's not my life that's bent,
it's that my days have merely
become a living Lent.
The cancer that assails me
was not meant as rebuke
or as a cause of misery
but as a road to truth.
And I have no complaint
as I walk the dreaded mile
and though I may yet faint
to accept is self-denial.
Of all the paths I'd choose no other
than walking here with Christ, my brother.

His Blog, he wrote the following

and sent it to me last night

You'll get no help from yesterday
and potential doesn't matter.
Your only focus is the way
that you still climb up the ladder.
You are alone upon the stage
in the spotlight's ice-hot glare
and every moment seems an age;
oh, how did you get there?
Do not ask for pity, friend,
for compliments or favour,
for here, today, at journey's end
your only hope's your Saviour.
Forget tomorrow, accept instead
His Love as your daily bread.

Could you pray for Barb? She is caught between promotion at work, and
worry about me.
