Title: NEED HELP
Post by: Bigdave_185 on April 23, 2016, 03:14:00 PM
2007 2500 Silverado rear axle bearings.  Need a phone call. (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160423/c1a219a828f2430ee062e77650fb01c5.jpg)

I am not positive the hub was assembled correctly.

What axle does it have.  I think 14 bolt right?

ok, looking at a the 11.5 aam, it appears in the lower left diagram that the stack up goes as follows,  the bearing, the race, the c clip (it was a bitch to remove) then the next race goes in and the bearing then seal follows   i will proceed to that point!  ::)

Hope this helps Dave:

Caliper bolts - 80 ft-lbs
Caliper bracket - 221 ft-lbs

I cant verify its accuracy....

Well I finished one side.  Now I am stuck with the driver side rotor not coming off.  My shoulder is absolutely distorted today.   Any suggestions on this?

Scratch that.  Grabbed a neighbor kid and told him to whale on it.  He got it as I posted the previous

Check my build thread for rear axle bearing replacement.  If you punch down on the outer race the clip will come out easy

I had a hell of a time with that inner c clip.  Not having the snap ring pliers is a terrible way to go but I ended up getting it after a few four letter words and some custom needle nose pliers

Gm did do a weird job on those. Strong as all,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Both the 11.5 AAM and 10.5 GM use the same parts. We need a good write up here for that.

My main concern was why did they stack the inner most bearing inside then have the race installed on top.  So many chances for a accident to happen but I understand tapered bearings are directional for a reason but I had half a mind to install mine the other way,

I can see if I can take some more photos this week.  Mines coming apart again to adjust that crap parking brake that is now covered by new pads and rotor.  I can't get it from the stupid peep hole and the auto rotate adjustment isn't working. I'll make some phone calls tomorrow and see if a shop will do it for a silly good price or I'll do it myself

I have build 100's of semi trailer and semi hubs. No clips, no reverse cups, nothing. They can't come loose and hardly ever fail. Why GM did about the reverse of that is crazy.

Sorry I was away at Jeep Beach in Daytona when Nate called. How's progress? You can call if you need still, but it sounds like you figured out most of the process so far?

Yeah I got it.  Should have ordered two sets of bearings if I had to tear it down that far just for breaks.

Anyone have an idea how much brake fluid the whole system holds? Amsoil.com doesn't list a capacity

mine was pretty empty and IIRC I used 2 quarts plus a part of a pint to fill, bleed and top off.  But then I spilled a bunch when the pressure bleeder cap popped off the master under pressure.  So I'd get two quarts
