Did the tac topper just inadvertently get brought back up.....?
We aien't going there with this truck! Lunar lander rear hatch, maybe, probably, likely But whole topper, already have one and it's good enough

apparently you weren't around for the topper shenanigans of o-twelve for the D-Max!! We spent the entire year watching a topper build that just didn't ever pan out!! This could be a touchy subject!!
Yea What he said ^^^

Thanks all
She is stable, but not really improving much. She's still very sick. Her mom and her boy friend have been at her bedside since Friday night!

Done.
I just talked to Kathy. She said they have moved her up to 100% ventilator now. She is completely sedated with a cooling blanket which is keeping her temp down to 101.something. Her heart rate was 115 and breathing 30 times a minute, so they medicated her to slow the breathing. The doctor there feels confident this young lady will recover, although it will be long and slow. She is still in danger though.

But you waste the potato.
I'm thinking it would only be some of it Bobby. I thought the same, then thought...less cook time=egg and hash browns, err baked potato anyhow.
To me the egg looked quite overcooked. I'm a runny egg guy though. Knock the cook time back 5-10 minutes and less potato would be charred. Which means more to eat.
I guess I'll be the Neanderthal here. Heck, I'd just brush off the dust and eat it as is. And that assembly would fit in your pocket to eat later as a meal. Protein and carbs for when you're on the move. All you'd need is some salt!

how about both? say a tailgate that looks and drops down normal has a set of rails that line up with a corresponding pair in the bed. slide out the heater unit and or your gun torrent with a shield.
Man, put the coffee down and step away, you're talkin' crazy!

I haven't decided, but this isn't a tail gate sort of truck.
I designed it to go it alone, to be an emergency sleeper if need be, and serve as a storage place for all manner of stuff, and sport a fold down bed, albeit a small one.
The Camper/trailer compliments it and gets you a lot more comfortable but should that get compromised you can dump it and go. Or if I do the base camp scenario, the camper is just that, the truck could then be used to reach out, or the bike if I ever figure out how to fit it on this assemblage.
Anyway without the tailgate I could push things a couple more inches aft and make some more room

Welcome! Big D, we did finally melt a couple weeks ago. Now we are in bug season, err, sprummer?
AHHH, those D!%$!! bugs... skeeters...no see-ems, (Basically another skeeter), and did I mention, skeeters. Yea I did a bone head thing up there once. Got back from flying north of Anchorage. took my flight suit off, pulled on some running shorts and took off (with no shirt) up this trail I saw when I was flying. So I get way out and the trail is narrow and I run right up on a small mountain, well, actually a moose! He just stands there and doesn't move, so I stop. The second I stop the carpet of skeeters that had been following me arrives. I let out a yell that caused the moose to startle. So I'm thinking this horse sized thing is going to stomp me and these skeeters are going to suck out all my blood while I'm unconscious! I ran back faster than I ran up! Never went running outside again without a long sleeve shirt!

On the way. That's a very serious mix of nasty.
Thanks! This is what prayer warriors and men who care do! Take a moment like my frozen friend here and bend a knee. Father God will hear you! It's invaluable to have men like all of you who will answer the call!

better not sit on that tailgate with only a dollar bills clearance. Any flex and it may hit it or no? looking awesome though
Ya know Darren, I am thinking of canning the tailgate and lift gate, building a lunar orbiter lookin' back end with a door. I need a place to mount a heater/AC unit and hang a hard cover first aid kit off of. Maybe put in a gun port so I can shoot nosy raccoons that come in around midnight down at the farm.

And the "Hood" thing is connected to the vertical pieces
26920
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:37:37 PM »
Now, if you look at the bottom of the tailgate, that is about where the tail folds down to, so I'll keep everything clear of that about 3/4" or so. I tested opening it with the winch installed, and the tailgate is maybe the thickness of a dollar bill from the tailgate!
Whoa, that's some seriously good eyeballing and measuring!
Here's where we go vertical. These angle plates rise up to where the top of the bumper will sit

Fairhead semi-installed
26922
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:32:16 PM »
With the winch temporarily mounted, The fairhead mount is glued in permanent-like
26923
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:30:47 PM »
To beef that up and add some more protection for the winch, I added a "Hood" to the previous assembly
26924
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:29:21 PM »
With two "Wings" welded onto the bent main panel, here is how I envision it wrapping around the winch. I like to cradle all that pulling and twisting with a lot of boxing to spread out the load and resist warping
26925
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:27:30 PM »
Same as with the front design, there will be some protrusion and some "Wedging"
Here the plate is prepared for bending by cutting a lot of it away at the bend axis
26926

Next is the roller fairhead mount, made from .250 steel
26927

Side view showing the profile view of things. The fairhead housing will stick about 2" further aft than this, the main body of the bumper

Welded in place:
26929
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:22:21 PM »
Here is the rather large winch mount plate, all 38" of it!
26930
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:20:46 PM »
OK, popcorn eating knuckleheads and other business aside, let's see something getting built!
Still melting in some metal on the back end of the truck. Objective: Get the new Superwinch 9500 tigershark winch properly stored and out of the way! Also get that spare tire and all those water jugs stored as well.
I can just see the floor opening up. Not enough to to shoot hoops like in Duane's garage, but close!
So you'll remember I stubbed out the bumper mounts. Here, I added some 3" angle to it to lower things a tad

I would have to consider it if he had a decent price tag. What do you guys think it should sell for?
Only a day's drive away from me. But I have nothing to trade that he would want.
Trade him my DR-650 with a full tank of gas

How long is the SD stent?
Ken, Usually it is an overnight thing. THe office or headquarters closes down around 1700. The SDO (Staff duty officer) and SDNCO (SD Non commissioned officer) and the duty driver show around 1630. They will be on until around 0800 which is when everyone is rolling in after morning PT, showers, and breakfast. Weekend duty is 24 hours. Special times, like when a unit is deployed and has left a rear area detachment for admin purposes might run 24 hours a shift for months on end, and sometimes with only a few NCO's doing all the duty.
