Do you really think they would use that WiFi name??

How do you like that 365? That is one of the few 9mm that really has me thinking. Need to be creative to get it here though, but it can be done legit.

I have heard/read good things about the ATN. If the price is good I would do it. I like the recording options as well.

I have a PVS-14/white phosphor and it is sweet.

Looks like I found a home for my mom. Very nice newer place and I took her there after I toured it. Nice studio with a kitchenet (microwave but no cooking), walk in shower and can even have small pets. Meals are cooked to order like a restaurant which was a biggy for me.

About $3500 a month which is actually low in the state and nearby (closer than her house). I need to work on veterans spouse aid which could be around 1200/month. My dad was a career marine serving in both Korea and VN. With that, her current $2000 income we would have to sell the house and invest the proceeds. Figure around $250K clear would net 1500-2000 a month and even add to the till with spending cash. Right now I need to finalize the power of attorney and trust which I already run.

This has been on my mind for some time now and it is time, even she said so. We see the Dr next week for the form she needs but that should be a breeze.

Those tiles look great!

Yep, its been about the $$ for some time now. Unless you are illegal or have lots of $$.

Well, we found it actually helped to talk on their level. Wasn't always the best route but it worked.

As for insurance, on Ca DMV knows if you have it our not but was not reported to you on the street. They have to know so they can pull the registration from the vehicle if you don't, what a scam.

And another complaint while I sip my coffee,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I hear you Rambler, I need out of this state too. Half of what I like is illegal or going to be soon. They are even going to limit water use in a few years!

Looks like the hour meter is not working, still has 116 hours after a day of use. Don't think it is far off though. Going to do a comp check, tune and oil change soon.

Looking for this 25 year old wiring assm for a quicksilver throttle. Also found a bunch of tools under the back seat, a little bonus.

I guess the cuts form the glass are no longer an issue?

I love an auto lens. Got to remember to adjust it but I was doing the same, could not the welds (no way its my eyesite,,,,,,,,,,)

Done plenty of hardfacing, it was not pretty but it gets ground down fast and looks good!

On another note looking at either having mom move in or placing her in a home. The later is very pricey but its mom. Looking at a couple places this week.

Hey, was that a jab at boat owners?

7172
Berryessa has a free use ramp! Who would have thought in Cali! That is also the closest lake and big with good fishing. Main running cost is fuel for now. I topped it off when I went out and its on empty now. Think I used less than 20 but still have to fuel it up.

I went over more videos and calcs and picked a prop. I was kinda hoping to get a solas, as they are the cheapest and I have the hub already. Ended up getting a Turning Point 4 blade 14x19. That is up 3/4 from my current and 2 more degrees pitch and the 4th blade. I may give up a little top end but should gain mid range and get a better hole shot from it. Was only 130 shipped and I have a spare now and a solas hub if I play more.

Looking at the skeg now. I can get a SS slip over for under 100, or a weld on for 40, then the welding which I would guess for another 100.

7173
That's another issue I am addressing. The trim switch is bad, and has a mind of its own and changes tilt with bounce. It will trim it down and I need to use the store switch to get it up. Goes up/down fine otherwise.

Once I get the right prop I may add a fin to the outdrive if it doesn't get up on step better. Still thinking 14.5x19 (3b) $100 or 14x19 (4b) $140.

7174
Sounds like a nice boat and a 10hp to boot. I have a 9.9 outside (new) that I may keep I got for the raft I have. Would make a nice troller but I don't want to drill the boat up. Even a elec troller needs a funky mount out front.

I found a few charts for the prop, watched videos and reviews. The 13 1/4 x 17 gets the boat moving and it planes nice, but it is a bare to get up and revs fast. From what I am reading the 3s are an all around good prop, but a 4 blade will get you up faster, giving up top end. SS is the best, but really out of my price range and still have to find the right size. Charts say a 14.5 x 19 3 blade, go down about an inch for 4 blades.

My motor is the 4.3 with the carter 4bbl, but can't figure if its the 190 or 205 HP. The FI motors are 220hp. I like the 4 blade 14 x 19 with the dual geometry props and will likely try that.

7175
Volvo, isn't that a ford? 19ft cuddy would be great for inclimate climate days.

How big is the alum and what size motor you looking at?

Doing prop research on mine now, might do a 4 blade for a little more pull. Looking at the turning points that have diff fin sets that claim the best pull and same top end. Heck just going up from a 13.25 prop to 14 is a lot, then add 2* of pitch!

7176
I will probably do the pump this winter. It is not hard but in the water would be a chore. Remember, it just has 118hrs on it now. https://youtu.be/IX9A-_zNobQ

Just added the topsider to my cart, that is a good price and I should have a coupon or 2 somewhere.

Oil changes are next, skeg repair, prop and the trim switch (works on auto now while the prop cavitates!)

Has VDO gauges and need to figure out the speedo yet.

After yesterdays use I pulled the drain on the transom and very little came out, pretty clear too. That was good news but it was a little looser than I liked.

Got a few giggles here: https://youtu.be/DHTOm4MDSu4 and I have helped recover some in a previous life,,,,,,,,,,,,

Are we all falling apart or just needing some maintenance?

7178
Thanks TRN. Already checked all the safety stuff, all works fine.

Can't do the impellor on this, its in the lower. I have done others on the water so a spare was nice.

Looking into the oil evac, they are pricey.

looks like a fun first day
Oh the truth to that...
Nice looking day for sure.

It would if I paid someone to do all the work. About 200 will cover all this, kids are ready to go out again.

7180
Well, first day on the water was fun. Began with turning it over, then click-click. Just a dirty terminal thank goodness. Used a little starter fluid to get it going, guess the choke isn't really working. Just needed it for the first cold start.

Much of the electrical need tinkering, speedo and trim gauge are in op. Trim has a mind of its own. Tach wasn't working at first, but was good after it warmed up some and the rest of the day. Topped off the fuel with just 5gal of 87. Was told gas was from jan and I added some marine stabilizer. 5 hours on the water, maybe 2 hours running and the gauge said "E" so I need to address that. The 4.3 should be good for several days of mild use with a 30+gal tank.

After a little digging it looks like it has the 3.0 prop vs the 4.3. Prop on it is just 13.25x17. Should be a 14.5x19 and also explains the plowing and the RPMs would go well over 5k if I let them.

Lower skeg is about 1/2 its normal size, so a fix there is called for. So prop and trim switch are being sourced. Oh, the cassette deck works!

7181
Needs a piece of hose so you don't cut those soft hands.

Drones, Boats, Flying and Floating Things / New to me Chaparral 1800 SCL
« on: August 13, 2018, 12:28:02 PM »
Finally decided to get a real boat. Was not going to drop $25k on a new boat so I started looking on CL via "searchtempest". Wanted something in the 18-20ft area with an open bow for fishing and the extra room. Wanted a V6 but V8 would do, the 3ltr 4cyl was underpowered by all reports. I wanted something clean looking and NO PROJECTS! I found a list of 8 or so in the 2k-8k area, 8k was pushing it. Went by a couple local boat stores and went real shopping on Sat.

This 1993 Chaparral 1800 SCL had all I was looking for. Price was a little more than NADA but for the hours (just 116) and all the little extras I paid $4300. Came with about every little thing you need, plus ski ropes and ski's. Anchor, paddles, PFD, cover and a full tank of fuel. It has a few little dings and scratches, but it is 25 years old. Picked it up from guy who got a bigger boat in Stockton. Pulled it down to Bass Pro shop in Manteca, then home. Pulls great, can hardly feel it. No brakes but it weighs just 2500 with trailer and my 6in drop hitch was perfect for it.

It runs smooth as silk and will get my trail tomorrow at Berryessa. Have to rewire the trailer today, but that is the worst of it. Wife and daughter are busy, so it will be the boys and I with a a friend of theirs. Berryessa is a large lake between Napa and where I live and has great fishing (crappie, bass, trout, cats, salmon and trout) with lots of open water for a new pull toy.

The kids and I love getting out but haven't used the TH in years now. I keep pushing it but they do not like the work before and after its use, so it will go.

With 2 lakes less than an hour from here, several more another hour out.

Nice looking cabinets, like the natural sealed finish.

I might on a nice day get the boat in the bay, delta is not bad though but you have to watch the tides. For now just fresh water.

Here is a link for a kit for the tranny. Little pricey but you can do it on your own too.

Glad you are getting better Dave. That is never fun but we all have gone through it.

Nice score Ken, more toys are always better.

Ryan, I have been lucky on that. Mine have always been near home before a trip. Last few have been free via costco warranty.

Speaking of toys, this followed me home today. I have decided to sell both the XR600 and the TH. We just don't use the TH and the honda needs lots of work still. Then the 1500 sub goes and I may have a buyer.

This is an 1993 Chapparal with a 4.3 V6 with a looks to be a carter carb. 18ft open bow in great shape. Advertised as a 91 for $4800, I paid 4300. Hopefully try it out on tuesday since school starts thrursday.

It is burning everywhere in this state. this is over the hill from my house, out now thank god.

7187
At least there is not blood mixed in there. Solid machine it appears.

My thoughts too, plus parked right in front?

Had to be training, but nice door stop! Just hit the 3 hinges and your in.

7192
Don't get me wrong a manual would be great. Would like on in the sub too.

Only start stopping would really slow you down if hurt. Not real hard to shift on rpm, sure you could handle it.

7193
And now with self driving cars being touted about, they would have to be auto.

But with cars now being push button start, shift and even the parking brake, you could be safe for a long time.

7194
Love to see it going again. I think going with the manual would be a great idea, from the beginning.

Now that the auto is in there, just get it going. Between linkages and drive shafts you would have a new buildup.
