Heat or humidity?
« on: June 04, 2024, 09:56:24 PM »
Both can be tough on you. I think the humidity is by far the worst of the two.

I remember a day or ten in Kandahar when static temps were in the high 1-teens. Someone once took a pic of a thermometer sitting at 128 (me). I operated in that and sucked it up. Around here it is near 90 with 85% humidity and I/we are miserable.

I hate humidity, who's with me?

I much prefer dry heat. Of course, I was raised in the desert before moving to the south. LOL

Either way, I prefer heat (humid or not) to cold. And cold temps with high humidity is the worst!

Humidity is from the devil ( kind of stealing a line with some major artistic modification from the movie the water boy). There's nothing worse than sitting in Saudi desert with it being 120 + in full MOP gear and having your own sweat producing the humidity.

You can always put on more clothes if it is cold but you can only take off so many clothes before someone calls the cops!

Yep, heat is tolerable, the humidity is the killer.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Tex, I remember a month of overnights I did there. Called a "High Speed" I would fly the last flight out of Cincy to Houston, grab a couple hours of shuteye, then fly the first flight out in the morning back to Cincy. Stepping out into that humidity around 2330, my shirt would start sticking to me...ugh!!!!!!
