Interesting drive. Starts in the plains of the east ends in the pines of the west. Appears to travel near elk mountain and the red desert in the south.

That’s my take upon my limited travels in Wy which has been thru most of these areas on the route. Turner where did you live in WY, I know you went to WYU....

I would also find it hard to believe a full size rig (Charles or Don) cannot drive this in WY.

Thermopolis. All my family still lives up that way.

And strangely enough I didn’t actually attend UW. I did get my associates from WWCC in Rock Springs though.

Sorry, when Baylee was looking into wyu thought you said you had attended.

Looked at it heavily and do know it to be a good school, but then joined the Marine Corps. Applied to a masters program, but did not get accepted.

That makes 2 days up and 2 days back on top of the 7 for 11 total.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Maybe 7 is a couple days too long? Could always peel off too as it’s not like we won’t be close to major highways along the route.

I looked at them already. Not much selection in the pre owned. A 500 that looks ok and some larger stuff but I’m not sure how a liter bike really goes off road.  I’m used to scraping pegs at triple digits on liter bikes

Other option would be to toss my wr450 in the back of someones truck and haul it up north......

Edit: stock seat might not be that comfy for several days would be only downside maybe.

Folks, this is going to be a great start to something I hope will be an annual thing.

Shawn is doing a great job getting us out of the chock blocks and deserves all the credit for getting this first one started

I am putting together a plan that projects five years into our future that has great trips like this one, all overland, rugged, not totally safe...I thought that if we published the plan folks could plan for these things years in advance. Be warned, the one 3-4 years from now is going to be epic...really. Hope many join us as we fellowship together doing what we love to do and honor God and spread his word.

Buckle your seatbelts, this is gunna be a ride!

Couple things, we’re just a little over a month out of we’re still on for June 14th.

A) is this still a feasible date?

B) who is still planning on attending?

I spoke with a local friend today and invited him to join the board and come on the trip, he’d fit in quite nice with the rift raft here I believe.

Best I can tell Wy has opened campgrounds to in state residents only at this time.

We are out.... after 96 hours of hustle and bustle, the 74 has been dropped off at the transporters to be brought to Hawaii.

Probably should have waited and just done it all in June, but it’s done and over with and waiting to be in Hawaii.

Nate, it was certainly strange. Simply because all they did was walk around the truck looking at the never ending scratches. But because we paid to ship it, not her work, the inspection took all of five minutes. Was definitely weird. Compared the tacoMa, that took an hour and was inspected inside and out upside and down.

Don, I certainly will miss meeting with you guys and making the run, but we had a window of opportunity to aid our family in forward debt reduction process, so we took it.

Shawn, whoever else may be interested. here's an update and our situation.

My camper is nearly completed and a couple days after that happens we are outta here!

But the parks/campsites we were looking at are closed or have reduced services or capacity. It is making this difficult and we have a rapidly closing window due to the boys returning to physical conditioning for football which one coach wants to start 15 June, but officially begins the second week in July

That may mean there is just not enough support or things open for us to actually get there. If things don't start opening up fast, we will have to launch and stay local within a couple hundred miles of home and make the best of what what is available.

More to come, but I imagine most folks are seeing the same thing I am seeing.

Wy update, Cheyenne frontier days which is late July has just been officially canceled, heard it on radio. First time in 124 years btw. I believe everyone knows how this will play out now. Ship has sailed folks, let’s plan on the first annual trip next year.

My 2 cents and I spoke with a local friend who was wanting to join and he came to same conclusion.

As much as I want to deny what is happening, Shawn is right. This thing seems to be going in the wrong direction. Some things are opening slowly local to KY, but between here and Denver/WY, support is thin. I think the thing is a wash for this year. Such a pity.

OK, well we will launch on something much more local and see what we can make out of that. It would have been a hoot doing this trip with friends but, it is what it is.

I would be interested

Time frame limitations for the Don

Taking a week vaca starting 23 May

Then

Hanging around the casa until evening of 22 June

The day the Pre-Ranger ships off to US Army Infantry school.

After that I'll need something to clear my head

I should be good with July, Second kid graduating end of school year and taking her to Montana in August. Sorry Ken, MT gave her more money and pretty sure it’s not as liberal as flagstaff.....
