The only crab I have eaten is Dungeness. Fresh caught, cooked shell on and cooled immediately. Cleaned and served. Frozen is ok but fresh from pot to table is best. Problem now is the area of Puget Sound we live near has been closed for years. Need to load up the gear and head to an open area and catch a few for dinner.

Very nice looking rig. And unlike some here that have fallen into the Biden bull it will haul whatever you need without stopovers to recharge the system
Bob, Not fallen into the Biden bull! I have wanted to be a part of this Tesla thing for some time. It's a very nice car, and one I won't have to do anything to except drive. What's wrong with buying what you want?
Absolutely nothing wrong with buying what you want. I just hope you haven’t fallen into the trap set by the Dems that are saying it is a winner for stopping global warming. Things I worry about are keeping me from jumping. May we never loose power because the cars that need it to operate have first position. And being cheaper to operate, I am sure that won’t be the case.

Don, nice that you are able to get into a new EV. Would be nice to be able to travel 600 miles for twenty bucks or so and only having to make two stops to recharge batteries. I am very interested in how the costs and downtime recharging batteries work out in the long timeframe.

Hydro power is the target now. Not sure if it is the tribes or Biden but the dams are the target.

Today, fielded a call from the HH6 informing me that the AC tech says we need to replace the 4ton AC for the upstairs.
$14k for a trane. Not sure if that includes the furnace and air handler. Will have to investigate and get some other estimates. I suspect a little “zip code” pricing here.
Any thoughts on Trane versus Carrier?

I think between the two brands, whichever offers the best price and warranty for comparable product. I have had both brands, and have been happy with both. The gas replacement is the big cost when a part fails and needs replaced because the gas is lost and not included under warranty.

No you didn't miss any posts. I didn't leak the information until 2 posts ago. My girlfriend (well fiance now) and I were talking about getting married, and one day after a birthday party we just started talking about what we wanted and turns out we planned the wedding. We did everything all backwards, it was planned, and dates set before I even bought the rings. It's a small family only ceremony followed by a family dinner, the next day we have a friends/family open house reception at our place to let people come celebrate.quote]
Congratulations young man. We are Working on 53 years

True statement right up to the time the trencher cuts through something it shouldn’t have.

Have you looked into using a trencher, perf pipe, and clean rock.

I think what you have will keep most away. For the pro, they enjoy the challenge. I don’t show off my stuff and hope to keep the pro away.

As fast as things change in this arena I am waiting to do anything. I don’t have an area where I can get full sun all day and unlike a lot of areas we have plenty of cloudy days to upset the apple cart. Heat pump system yes, PUD for power yes, for now I can live with that.

Have to wonder why two shut off valves. So is that the supply to the valves for the sprinklers? Not sure what is happening there but is the whole thing above the frost line?

Leave the screen closed and you won’t even know it has a sun roof. Don’t open it and it won’t start leaking.

Well , it is Spring and the gas BBQ is ready to go. Mixed up some olive oil and seasoning and added some cut white onion, summer squash, cherry tomatoes, and beef sirloin to soak up some flavor. Elk or deer blackstrap works nicely too. Also a bunch of large shrimp dripping in butter just because. Sorry, no photos and a smoker grill would be better but not set up yet.

Solar has been around for a long time. Problem is everything keeps changing so much it is very hard to keep up. At some point I will/ may have to set up for off grid but for now I just hook into the local provider and life goes on. I don’t live off grid or even have a secondary spot that is off grid. I am thinking of off grid power is ever an issue, I will set a large propane tank. Our skies up in WA have way to many clouds in the way to be able to plan a system that would provide enough energy.

Might need a winch to raise the ramps though.

« on: April 10, 2022, 12:56:09 AM »
Ken, thought about laying some wood down those ramps so the track cleats aren’t tearing up the metal cross pieces. Wouldn’t have to move the ramps either.

one of the abuses of figuring cost around credit score has been our auto insurance.
224
« on: April 08, 2022, 12:27:23 PM »
We have found the best way to control the credit score is to use our three credit cards for most purchases but, pay off in full each month. One card for fuel purchases, one card for general use around town, and one card for online use. Easier to watch for unauthorized use. For us, the credit score lowers if we close a credit card account. If we decide we don't want the card anymore we destroy it but the account is still in place. I really don't care if credit score drops a bit because I closed an account, but lots of businesses use the credit score in figuring the cost of products I buy, and I don't feel that is right for anyone. If they use credit scores to figure interest charges fine, but for initial cost of a product?

That is really nice you putting in a turnaround for fire. I don't remember, how long did it take them to respond to the house fire down the road? Up that far I would think the best you would get would be a brush truck response. Tell them to close the gate when they leave.

if you place the storage area back up off the end of building, you could do a couple levels to cut down on dirt moving. one level for storage under the sloped roof on the end of building , and a bit higher level for "stuff" Does Nevada require a pond at lower end of site drainage, or so little water it can be turned loose into the drainage path there now?

« on: April 07, 2022, 12:48:32 PM »
Lots of work happened at the site. Where do you plan to level off a spot for storage yard?

Good idea to add a pump. Just be sure it isn’t rated to pump more water than is available through the line.

Man do I remember all the roadblocks. Talked with the electrician a couple weeks ago. Waiting on a meter base. If I was sure 100 amp service would be plenty they could finish up right away. Hang in there, in the end it should be a nice place to call home. And on the right side of the California state line.

Gets pretty darn exciting once you can start drawing lines and finding the best fit for everything. When is the building package scheduled to be dropped off.

Those are about rotted wooden hog houses. I have to do something to get rid of them
Dig out a pit with the tractor, nice fire, fill in the pit burying the nails and junk.

That stay back 300 ft is almost useless unless using high power glasses. Most of the trucks and pups down here have those stickers on the rear of the rig. along with we don't pay for windshields. Not sure that will help but got to try something.

JR, my dump trailer is 14000 and weighs just over 4,000. Only power up and gravity down. Dealer said if I had both power up and down the battery would need charging at least once or twice a day. Never have had a problem lifting a load or the trailer coming down on its own. Only wish it was a bit wider inside but so far haven’t had a problem with only 6 ft inside width. It has the large scissor lift and really works nice.

Charles, I hadn't thought of using epoxy and all thread. Might just do that to anchor my lift, if I do anchor it rather than being able to move if needed.

I am thinking mine is handed down from my grandad. All was good until I got out of Army and wearing cook hats. Now doing the shave the head thing and the throw away cartridge works ok. Still have the ring around, just the top of head is bare. Got tired of finding enough for a combover.

Need to move my 34 Chevy back to Washington from Az and driving it home got to be less of an option all the time. U Haul wanted 450 bucks to rent an open car trailer but the more I thought about it open trailer wasn’t a good idea either. Started searching and found a like new 8.5ft x 20ft x 7ft inside height car hauler enclosed trailer. It is a 2022 Look Ignite toy hauler with torsion axles. Nice reinforced ramp with extension and the rear of trailer dovetail so the ramp is not too steep. 9999lb gross weight trailer with E rated 15 inch tires. Wasn’t looking for a higher end model but not much around so bought what was available. Screw less exterior and vinyl interior walls and ceiling, and one piece aluminum roof. 6 floor mounted D rings and an extended tongue.

The all electric vehicle thinking sure increases the time to get from point to point if there are too many miles between the two points.

I tried to adjust the coilovers but no luck. Plan now is to get the thing up home and redo with standard spindles.

I called Outlaw rods yesterday and found out the builder ordered the chassis with 2 1/2 inch dropped spindles. Explains why there is very little ground clearance at the front of the car.

I hear you about getting money from your own bank. Our bank has closed down so many places. We only have bank machines both down here and up in shelton WA. Bank machines are a far cry from being able to serve the people.
