Funny thing: When I was TDY to Ft. Irwin a while back for an experiment, I saw a lot of Wrangler 4xe rentals. I spoke to one of the guys who had one, and he told me the rental company did not have the charging cables to provide to customers. No big deal since it's a hybrid, right? Well, I then asked him what kind of mileage he was getting. I expected something in the neighborhood of 30-40mpg like a Prius. Nope! His average was 12-14mpg! LOL

I've since put 40" Milestar Patagonia tires & can now go 65 on the highway, haha.

I suspect yours may still be governed. Back in the day, the first thing we did was get rid of the governors. Being ARNG, we spent a good bit of time on the interstate going to the field. 55mph doesn't cut it. Our trucks would easily maintain highway speeds (took a bit to get there though  ).

I agree, especially those who were combat veterans. They knew the cost.

Good one Colonel!

Thanks! That one (and a lot of others from Reagan) always held true in my heart, especially for those of us who have done things for our country that would make the average non-vet civilian's heart quake, knees tremble, and bladder spontaneously release. ;-)

Politics/Know the Facts / Re: Civil war in the US?
« on: June 17, 2024, 01:28:26 PM »
I voted no. I do not think the loud liberals (who we hear the most from) have the intestinal fortitude to take up arms for what they "believe". If a few of them do, they'll be put down so quickly the event won't qualify as a "war". I believe most people in this country see what is really going on, and are fed up.

Firearms / Re: Glock 19 trigger
« on: June 17, 2024, 01:24:50 PM »
I like the way my glocks shoot. Just qualled with a 23, no issues. I have trijicons on all.

On a 19 I have, the pin hits the primer solid, but no bang 1/2 the time. Tweeking but not rusted yet until I get a bang everytime.

I had a G21 that did that back in the day on handloads. It didn't happen on factory loads, but I didn't keep it long enough to prove that it wouldn't.

It seems the sweet spot for the Cummins is 1800-2000 RPM. At least that's what it is on mine.

Heat and humidity are logical. Therefore can be dealt with.

Humor, Good Stuff, and Red Neck Practices! / Re: Heat or humidity?
« on: June 05, 2024, 11:04:53 AM »
I much prefer dry heat. Of course, I was raised in the desert before moving to the south. LOL

Either way, I prefer heat (humid or not) to cold. And cold temps with high humidity is the worst!

Ya know this is the very folly of democracy.

I wonder if The Franklins, the Washingtons, and the others considered that?

The answer to this: our founding fathers new this, and they did consider it. That is why state elections are wholly democratic. They believed that the populace would be more tied in to their state government. The same is true for the Senate/House. Difference there was how the Congress was organized. The House is representative of population size in each state, but, in order to balance that out and give an equal say for less populated the states, the Senate is limited to 2 per. To ensure equality between states in the Presidential election, that office is not elected by the democratic majority. It is elected by the electoral college. Each state's electorate votes for who they deem is the best candidate, usually based on the majority of votes within each state (that is not a requirement, though. The electorate can vote for who they choose if they think the votes within the state do not meet the needs of government.). This is why we are NOT a democracy, but a Constitutional Republic. A fact that many, even in government, no longer understand.

3. The game with you combat arms folks is to always take advantage of the aviation people
4. Aviation gets more of the most expensive toys so our stuff is sought after amongst the lowly and smelly people we haul around! ;-)

You aviation types make it too easy! Always more focused on your rest plans and eating on fine china. Gives ample opportunity for us "smelly people" to reallocate some of that fancy gear y'all have that'll make our lives easier. LOL

Yea, I know your type.
I was the officer having to explain to the other commander why the "thing" was missing while in my possession!!!!!

:-))

If you'd a better job securing your gear, it wouldn't have been creatively reallocated. As a CWO, honestly, you should've known better. Especially in the SPECOPS community. LOL!

Great update  :likebutton:

I was diagnosed after much agony in my early 30’s with gout. Unlike most it’s not in my big toe but was in my knees and elbows. The knees were the worst, crippling me for a week at a time. Thankfully preventative meds keep it at bay almost 100%, sucks getting older.

I feel you! When I have a gout flare-up, it hits my knees as well. Luckily, better living through chemistry has resulted in no issues in the past 15 years.

I think that we are probably already involved in a world war, just not the conventional one we are familiar with.....yet. The current war is being fought in a "cold" fashion, using cyber and economic means. The proxy wars are heating up, and like oklawall said, could go either way.

Those are some good looking doors. How do they seal? I know the fiberglass doors on my HMMWV back in my Scout Plt days leaked like a sieve every time it rained. LOL. Had to get used to leaning inboard.

I don't know about traitor, as I believe that requires intent. I think whoever continues to support him in the general populace is just a bigger fool. Compounded with the lack of drive to research and critically think about what is actually happening vs. what is being reported.

Works great on tanks/IFVs because of the armor acting to tamp/redirect the explosive force. Light skinned wheeled vehicle? I think those guys are smoking crack!
