Cool Jon. Those were fun, I did classes too.

We had our Merit badge camp at the fairgrounds right next to Six Flags in SF Bay.

The weather guy said 106 today. I'm staying inside at all costs. Old fat guys shouldn't be out in weather like that

Looks like the spamer are at it again. So many want to join, so why can't they put that effort into something good?

Since when did evil ever put effort into something good?
This is a part of living in the modern world. I wish there was a magic button to push to eliminate them, but...

Now having said that, the problem may be going away.

Don't know if you noticed but we have almost no new threads. What we really have is Matt's daily verse of scripture and some chatting on this thread. Ken it's creator hasn't been here for a year. There are only a few people visiting except for all these guests. I will seriously have to consider the next renewal...

Sadly you’re correct chief.
I was thinking about Ken this morning.
Haven’t seen nor heard from him in ages.

I would have to agree with the dramatic decrease in the site activity and looking at the fees. I don't post as much as I should. Will miss the fellowship but understand.

Africa, your weather is over here drunk again. Please come and take it back home. Another excessive heat advisory today. Being old, fat, and having heat stroke once before, I won't be doing much outside today.

This put a big ole smile on my face!

Been hot for me too, but nothing like the real hot y’all got going.

Got the truck aligned yesterday.
First time in four years. Nearly 100k.
There’s proof time the cognito steering brace kit works.
I was every 6-8 months prior.
The same guy has been doing it for many years.
He asked what the heck I did as he knew it was far too tight for a Chevy.

I've the Cognito stuff on my truck since new. Running their lift too. I really like their stuff. Now that Randys has even better.

Heat, yeah been nuts out here too. A cool day is just the 90s. At least the AC in the TH works good!

Pressed on with the heat for the shop.
All plumbed up but chasing one last leak.

Electrical hook up next trip out. Maybe see if some heat will seal the leak…I know it won’t but one can hope right…

Low mid 90’s again today. Glad for the AC.

And up here we haven’t seen 100 more than a handful of days in the 24 years I’ve lived up here.

lol Chief…have not been -100.
May feel that way some days but not quite that far.

Anyhow.
We’ve been under a much different problem this past week. Were smoked in quite heavily.

Fire season is kicking the heck out of our air quality. This was Monday I believe. The orange morning. Wish it were one of the beautiful sun and cloud days but it’s heavy smoke.

This was Tuesday morning.

Wednesday we went in and out of this many times.
The rock point is 6-700 yards.
Normally I see way down river several miles.

This is a smoke web page that shows where it’s from and predicts a forecast so to speak.

Today it shows that Don may be fettong some from out west in the next day or so.

We got a touch of rain last night, but currently we’re in an absolute downpour. We’ll take it.

It’s much better today.
At least locally.
Our closest fore is 50 odd miles out and not of great concern at the moment.

The big ones are making the big smoke.

A few days of steady rain would be real good.
I recon we got 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch yesterday in that hour or less. There was hardly a spot on the road that had muck, was all dry for the most part.

More rain forecast after the weekend so here’s hoping it pans out.

Well it’s really not, but a tad brisk this morn on the way to work. High 80’s and low 90’s again later this week.

60F differential between highs and lows...Amazing
Now having said that, I started one day off at around 43F, hung around until noon when it was a bit over 80, then drove up and over the Bear-Tooth pass and saw 32 again and a mixed rain/snow shower...In July this year! Then descended back down to cap off the day in the low 70's...

Many years ago, when I was first station in Oklahoma. I was working swing shift, drove into work, and it was 80 deg. When out to the flight line and started working on an aircraft when we finished around 22:00, we opened the door of the aircraft and pushed about 8" of snow. Most of only had T shirts on, and it was very cold and wet breaking down the AGE before we could go inside

So it was mid 80’s here today, has been 90 lately. Neighbor and I volunteered to help the developer clean out the trail to the creek on the back side of our development. Trail is around 400-500 yards and several hundred elevation drop I believe. Couple downed trees in creek where we’d like to fish, some very large trout spotted on said creek. We couldn’t get to this particular tree with excavator. That creek is a good 9-11 ft deep in this area. Tree doesn’t look like it but it’s about 6’ deep. So neighbor initially tried going out in waders. Couldn’t get it, got wet. So I volunteered to put on trunks and water shoes and swim out to try and get a chain around it. Unknown to me at the time is that creek which comes from a local lake is spring fed somewhere up stream between here and the lake. So I get in and it’s taking my breath away it’s so cold. I then swim out to the log with chain in tow and am doing pretty good with exception of stirring up a lot of silt so that I can’t see the log now. I get next to where I think it is and dive down. Lose the log location and then surface. At this point I can’t feel my feet and can’t catch my breath. Can’t even talk or yell, taking my breath away. Was gunna be in real trouble quick. Swim back to shore and get pulled out.

So we’ve decided I’m building a grapple from rebar in the morning and we’re going fishing with the excavator. To be continued……

I had the chain in my hand but couldn’t talk so they didn’t know to pull me back. Here again had I known it was that cold I wouldn’t have went in. The lake upstream is much warmer, that spring must be close to our fishing hole.

I think we’re gunna open up a freeze therapy and charge for dips in the creek.

Looking back up trail from creek

Going to plant this to grass and add a fire ring in middle.

Looking north

South view

10’ plunge pool, water looks different in this area and you can see some movement along bank even.

Don, it’s super healthy. Nice little hike down and back.

We are certainly blessed. It’s been a long road to end up here. Part of me wishes I had thrown dice 25 years ago when I started talking about Montana and just pulled the trigger then.

Scored a couple vises on FB today. 1st is similar to a bullet 6in, but the end cap is buggered. Just a pin is pulled out but its free and solid otherwise.

Second is a 5in generic vise I'd call it, but seems old school and solid too. Jaws on both are clean too

Advertised for $125 each, I got them both for $100.

Had my head buried yesterday trying to think of anything but the date. Bret was killed in Afghanistan 13 years ago yesterday. Didn't do much good. I ended up thinking about the loss. Turned it around in the evening, checking up on the guy Bret saved a few days before. Let those you love know how you feel. We have no guarantee of tomorrow.

That's tough
Good that you turned it somewhat positive.
