After being sick in 0% humidity at low 90's we were VERY happy to come home to a little wet/gray/cold.

Discovered that the youths of today, have NO CLUE how to address an envelope to their OWN HOMES!

Some are dumb enough to ask where the stamp goes on email.......I thought that they down-sized school buses for economic reasons.......nope, need more "helmet" accessible seating I guess.

Worked on Jeep, I'll update the thread later. It broke or I broke it & fixed it.

Dealt with my Mom's estate crap (daily thing right now)

Took oldest to first physical therapy session for knee, they weakened it & now we get to build it back up.

Watered trees & fixed back yard stone areas from the red puppy terror

Hung 2 of the new cabinets up. First I had to mud and paint, more to follow. Rehung old NUKE warning from Mare Island.

Built 2 more shelves in the small garage, running out of storage!

Put a new seat in the excavator except they forgot to send the mounting brackets. Changed oil and filters. Changed all the filters and oil in the dozer. That was a challenge. Not familiar with that equipment but got it done. That excavator is a large piece of equipment but when you get it in the shop it just looks massave.

Did a test burn on the cooker. It failed. I do need a heat deflector. I figured I would but didn't do it. I need a damper too. The beer can did help. This was a gas water heater so where the can is was the chimney. My biggest screw up was using diesel to burn it out. I wanted to get it real hot to burn the oil off. Should have used gas like I usually do. Diesel left black soot. Now I have to power wash it out.

Traded the truck for a Malibu?? Whats wrong with you man!?  :knucklehead:

Yeah it was a tough call. 275k LB7 w/ injectors starting to go, t case smoked, REALLY bad chassis rust w/ rotted rockers, and a new higher mortgage. After the trailer is sold we will have no real need for a diesel truck, and I'm commuting 78 miles a day. 38 mpg and a solid warranty on a basically new car without the depreciation and cost to fix the truck sounded pretty convincing

Well Ash never visits anymore and I well I've got nothing to add. Your view from your place is much better than mine and I miss my old view so what do I know. It's all about choices and what's important to you at the given time frame.

Ash, well other than the tornado that hit his place two weekends ago he's doing good. It did a number on his shop but no one was injured. Of course everyone on fb was sending prayers and offers to help. Me "I'm like the shop needed a new larger addition anyhow!"

Funny thing, Don is always saying Ash & I are like long lost brothers. Well, when that tornado was hitting his place I had heard on the news a couple mins earlier that east TX was getting slammed. Him & I hadn't spoke in couple of weeks. So I shot him a text asking how he was doing in the storms. Not realizing a tornado was barreling down on his farm at the exact same time.

Posting in here to get a little more exposure vs my trailer build thread.   Was planning on a 16' plus 2' dovetail.  With it framed up and sitting close to the ride height I'm wondering if I shouldn't just do 18' straight.

I don't expect to be hauling to many low riding cars that would need a lonh approach.

Any opinions?

I dropped mine about four inches when I built. Many a time I've wished I didn't.
If you don't see low riders on it often it's likely worth staying straight.
The odd time you do you'll hate it, but looking back I'd say I screwed up.

I forgot to mention on your other thread Bear, 18 footers tend to drag on dips often, if it's an average height trailer. A drop in the back would only limit where you can go..... Unless of course the axles where pushed back, or if you raised it, which would defeat the purpose.

Thought this was a little crazy. We got 2 chebby , white, LBZs in on the same day, 2 different customers, both needed water pumps and oil coolers. (I've never even seen a dmax oil cooler go bad, just read about it)

Off today. Drove to the weekend place. Changed out some CFLs for LED replacement baffle can retro fits. In the process I got lazy and fell off the ladder. Hurt my ego and ripped the flat screen off the wall in the process. Tv actually survived more or less but I ripped the ends off the HDMI cables. I need to go outside to the shop and do something more dangerous before I get hurt.

I don't know about being an expert, but I do know I feel as tho I fell from a ladder after doing them! haha

JR, one leaked internally, filling the cooling system with oil. The other was leaking externally. Probably could be resealed (if my dealer had the seals), but was corroded, so we opted for the easy way.

Just never heard of them going bad before but sure it happens (knock on wood)

They from a rust area?

The one that leaked outside, is a pretty clean desert truck. The cooler was clean, but it corroded on the sealing surfaces (original coolant?)
The other truck looked like it was from a mine...sulpher colored mud 3" deep everwhere, but the cooler wasn't corroded. weird

I've never heard of the oil cooler going either...

HC better paint that truck another color before his go.  :cheesy:

My power steering cooler went which surprised me but I'm in rust hell up here in salt country.

TRN glad you didn't hurt more than the HDMI cables. Falling off ladders can end badly!

Coolant turns acidic in time...Could not having changed the coolant be the culprit for the internal leak?  Either has to be a corrosion event of a defect in manufacturer by my thinking.

Changed oil in the Duramax at 128,000, trimmed up the big Maple off my deck, mowed and fertilized the lawn, and protected the hostas from the grazing dogs by putting up the temporary fencing.  Afterwards I sat on the deck and enjoyed the breeze and a beer -near 80 here today!  :likebutton:

I didn't fall off the ladder today. Weeded and Mulched the garden and washed the Bus with help from the oldest. Changed blades on the mower. Mowed out by the road. Cut a new path on the other side of the creek. Checked on the caps I poured to make the other 3 columns level on the casita. Cleaned up the shop and organized some tools. Beat my wife at darts.....again. Sitting by a fire with a whiskey and Diet Coke.
