Just found out the BD fits in the dump trailer with 2 inches clearance at the blade. Seemed to tow ok but maxed out on weight.

By who’s opinion is it maxed out? Send it……..
Living in the remote north hoping Ken doesn’t bring H up here any time soon…..

My brain says turn it around but all the motor and weight is on the front of that.  The cage and fuel is all that’s on the back right?

When ya headed north?

I'd say it's pretty even, and turned around would tow better with weight shifted rearward. It definitely would be easier to pull it straight in.
..but I'd run the blade through the side panels trying to keep it straight, especially when it breaks over.

Really!
Skid steer is 11,600
That new cutter head is 2,400
so
14,000 for the pair

For a long tow I would turn it around. The real weight is ahead of the axles. Guy who taught me for hauling stuff in our smaller trucks is if the rear only squats about an inch, you are GTG.

I can't load it that way. The blade barely fits... I'd have to have it perfectly centered when it breaks over, plus the engine and blade with it's frame are pretty darn heavy.
Doesn't matter really. I'll be using the gooser for the Idaho trip.

Going to close out this chapter, until the next trip, with the last thing I had to do to BD (Baby Dozer). Putting on a missing decal from the tank cleaning rodeo.

So, ended up using the gooseneck on that trip, in 2022. Grossed 28k at the cat scales near Butte.
Also finished the RV shelter on that trip.

2023 didn't get anything done in Idaho except trying to keep mice out of the RV. Best friend died from cancer and he helped me tremendously up there .

First: Sorry for your loss, Ken. That was a big one.

Next: We had a Ken sighting...thought I'd mention that.

Secondly: Glad you gave us something new about the place, even if it was not the greatest news.

Getting back at it, or??? :undecided:

JR, I thought by leaving the trailer up there the problems would go away. The heat takes a toll on batteries, tires, roof , fiberglass, and dried out all the cabinets.
Up there, the cold shrunk the linoleum floor and split it down the middle, froze and split the batteries, the moisture swoll the oak cabinets to where they won't shut and the undercarriage is rusted real bad now. Frozen water heater because I couldn't drain it, etc .

.. but the worst part, so far, is rodents

Thanks Don.

I do visit now and then. Just didn't feel like posting.

Finally sold my old house (rental).
That gave me just enough to pay off the property, run power (in the works), have a 700' well drilled (done), and possibly install a pump. That's it, no cabin.

Rodents is what killed my first camper at the farm. In my case they nested there, so, the snakes came in and took up residence. I saw a 6' king snake crawling out of a vent and into a hole in the slide once...While I was in it!

The sun is second and high winds are third when on a ridge in Kentucky.

700ft, wow. That is a deep one. I have seen pumps for 1-2k for that deep.

Glad you have things going better.

Yep, rodents will kill it. I am skerting mine with foam and throwing mothballs under it. Foam should keep the critters at bay and freezing up is a maybe up there

Dunno if the western rats are so deposed, but Irish Spring bar soap seems to work as a deterrent to mice here in the midwest.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

I will try the soap too. The mothballs really smell (I used 3 bags).

Guess what the quote is for a pump, with labor, permit, wired, with excavation (buried plastic vault for a pressure tank and about 60' of trench to the meter), with one hydrant for the RV

16,500. Ugh. Might have to do it myself

The well I had put in at my moms ended up at around 10 grand and the well was only 35 ft. The good pump guys don’t come cheap.

It didn't have to be there Bob, but it was the best spot, and the flattest. Anywhere else and I would have had to bench it out for the rigs.
Funny thing is, I had constant water running out of the 3' trench I dug for power, for 3 days, before I backfilled.
Not sure if it would be year round but sure made me think about it.

About to pull mine. I went cheap (1st time) and the pump I picked will not get the water up. Will follow up on my thread.

Just my hole was 26K. Guy down the hill just had his pump replaced, 4K.
