Long beach?
JBLM traffic can be just as bad or worse, but you'll be missing that too ;)
Toakeland, just outside of Westport. Backed the camper right up to the berm and had the waves lulling us to sleep at night. woke up to this guy outside my window Saturday morning, about 20 yards away. and this is flat and level, with 3 links. 4 links has at least 5 leftover and is the way I ran it coming home. what say you?

So on the trip down I felt what you were discussing in my absence. on the return trip, I increased the tension by pulling up one more link on the bars. it was parked a little off camber, but my knowledge of load leveling hitches is minimal to say the least. On the return trip with 4 links instead of 3 it definitely rode better, but you're saying take it to 5 or make sure that at least 5 are left between the hook and the bar?

So not just me then either. And the CIEMR is the EXACT place for this. I might have even taken it a little further considering I hablo, but hey you didn't hit any one with lineman's pliers or throw their saw in the street, so I'd call this a justified win.
Nice commentary Don. At the boy scout camp I worked at in high school they still have losers so there is at least one place for now, or at least until newlyweds Harry and Jerry decide it needs more compassion and understanding.

Thanks! Cooper gets to come with us this trip and no mountain passes. Middle of the morning on a Thursday means I get to dodge Seattle traffic too so I'm stoked.

Especially if you had a low fuel level in the tank when you took the lines off and introduced the air, they could siphon the lines back into the tank then you're trying to pull it back up hill. You've had the air sucking issue for a while now, I'm wondering if Matt doesn't have a good point and you need a little mechanical assistance to get the fuel back up where it needs to be.

When I ran mine out of fuel, I pumped and pumped for what seemed like hours. It wasn't until I purged it from the front Schrader valve which I guess is a pressure testing port, but it burped out a ton of air even when the bulb was stiff. my guess was that the air bubble was being compressed and sucked back in over and over until I cleared it. It took that, and another guy pumping the primer bulb while I was cranking to get it to turn over and even then still took about 20 min to get it to fire.

Ok, you can play with the C4 but you can't have a detonator. Ok, you can have the detonator but you can't put them together. Ok, you can put them together, but no pushing the button... What?? you pushed the button? I never saw that coming! "Hey everybody, I told them not to push the button so it's not my fault."

Ugh, no good JR. send some pics of the offending lines/area of concern. I'll see what I can come up with here. I have our old head tech back working for us and he's got an lbz as well and is well versed in her.

As a large corporation that I deal with on a regular basis I can tell you that their canned response will be, "that could have happened any time since the install and you can't prove we're to blame"... I would want to go after them too, but I can't see a win here. Sorry you had to deal w/ that but glad to hear she's up and killing it again.

Nice work on that steal of a deal! The axles are seriously stout, seem to last forever, and were much more prevalent than other dana axles so parts are everywhere including aftermarket. would love to get my hands on a ready welder; last time I had to weld on the trail it involved some jumper cables, my two optima batteries and some coat hanger. Let's just say I was not that confident in my steering drag link after that, but it got us down off the mountain and home after some pretty intense snow wheeling in the cascades. Any update on the state of the transmission?

I use the 870 express 12 for waterfowl and the Beretta for upland, also 12 w/ modified and improved cylinders. Used the 870 for everything when I was younger, but the Beretta is just lighter and easier to shoot on warm eastern Washington fall days. Early fall pheasant over here are great for the lab since they hold pretty tight. I like 3" mag bb or T for the high flying Canadians. #8 for quail #6 for ducks and pheasant. I'm pretty durn good with the haydel's dr-85 and my teal whistle, so I really don't need to reach out too far to get the duckies.

Kyle,
That is a number that would make me and especially my wife go pale over, but I think that what Don's getting at is though on paper you lost your hat, when the paper ceases to matter, and your portfolio is gone you will still have your silver in your hand, and the actual value that it represents, and in later cases much more than that. I don't currently have the financial wherewithal to purchase precious metals, but as my finances slowly return to equilibrium here, I see more and more now that they will be my primary investment along with property and livestock. My little garden experiment is turning out exceptionally well, and has inspired us to expand. Many like minded neighbors in my small rural community are already using their wasted dead lawn space to grow food, raise chickens and goats and revert to a more self sustaining scenario, and I have a lot more untapped property that I can convert to very healthy growing space. I'd rather have 50lbs of squash than $50 printed paper.

I think the spark shower and slag would be enough to mess up your avg dewalt pretty badly. Not saying it couldn't be done but last summer I was working for a stage lighting company and building shipping crates with steel banding. Cut over 4 tons of steel with the composite blades and whoa are they messy. had to occasionally hammer and chisel the slag off the saw base.

Really sorry to hear about your lousy set of events here. Mine turned out to be sucking air through a broken bleeder screw, and I know you've gone through all that, but sucking air or physical blockage in the tank like Ken was talking about make the most sense to me. Sad to hear you're parting with Daisy, but not sad that the smoker will soon be within driving distance.

Fan kicked on and yes, very loudly. temp did not change when the fan kicked on though, and giving it more fuel seemed to speed up the overheating. so I dialed it back to 45-50 to keep it around 220-240 until I cleared the hill. on the way down the cool down was very quick. I'd say within 5 min I was back down to 210 and then a sudden drop to 180-190. And the fan kicked on occasionally during regular travel when it would get over 210 seemed to operate normally, but didn't seem to have much effect. An old timer told me a bad radiator cap could cause overheating, but I didn't have any coolant loss at all so I'm skeptical.
Feeling pretty stupid right now... considering the "radiator cap" doesn't exist.

A little preface:
I took my wife and the Tater tots camping this weekend over in Leavenworth, WA. From the west side of the cascade mtn range to the east side is a pretty steep climb, 4,062' in about 39 miles. Now the trailer is only 5600lbs and I don't carry water, so with full load I'm estimating around 6700 on a heavy trip.
Without running AC, and only cruising at 50 MPH, I overheated, badly... trans temp didn't get too high but I got all the way up to 260 before cresting, and as soon as I started down the other side it quickly dropped back down to 210, then a few minutes later it would seem that the thermostat finally opened up and it dropped down to around 180-190. Bear in mind it was in the high 90's during this trip, but there were other '06 and older duramax trucks passing me with toy haulers and 5th wheels like I was standing still.
I plan on following Nate's DIY and taking the stack apart to clean this week; it was an OH truck and I imagine there is some grime in there, but I also want to address any other issues that could be contributing here. I'm thinking thermostat based on the way it was behaving, but also radiator cap in case it was bleeding off pressure. Any thoughts here? Ken and Nate and Ash I know you guys are in the heat and towing heavy too. Daily driving NEVER replicates this scenario btw, even in heat with traffic.

Go ahead, muck it up, I can take it! Sure glad I got that timer on the way... got home to nobody en casa and ran out to give it the afternoon watering. Then I left and forgot to turn it off. Lake Hudson is nice this time of year. Good thing we just planted yesterday and I wasn't drowning out starts. Doesn't look like anything floated away but only time will tell lol. And for pest repellent, I've got a 90lb black lab that loves chasing dear, rabbit, birds, squirrels, cats, dogs, moles, (effective killer on those) etc. He roams the property with a boundary collar which takes him right to the edge of the garden.

As you can see by the condition of the grass around the garden, sunlight is not an issue. I've got a sprinkler head that will irrigate the whole garden at once that Sam will be running twice a day. Sophie is on weed duty. Depending on the outcome of this project, we have about 4 acres of surrounding property to play with. and a neighborhood that is interested in getting involved.

So Cyndie took the kids to the country store in town, (sort of like a co-op) and got some seeds. Came home last night and she tells me, "well honey, we're going to do the garden you wanted finally, but we have to get it done tonight since we're going camping this weekend and you're working the next two nights". So from 5:30 to 7:00 me and Sam, (my oldest) and his buddy Kegan dug through the dry dusty rocks and dead grass out by our fire pit and came up with this little starter garden. Sophie and her little neighbor buddy Landon planted pumpkins, sunflowers, zucchini, carrots and radishes. They had a blast and will be maintaining this patch on their own. didn't get any "before" pics to show how desolate it was before but just look around the sides there and you'll get a good idea.

Looking really good there Trev. You're making me want to strip the trim on my '03 LB7. Couldn't tell from your pictures, are there holes in the body where the trim used to sit that you filled, or is it just adhesive? I don't want to get fully committed pulling that trim off only to have unexpected holes to fill. Loving that HD hood look. makes it look like the big v10 burban.

Or one of my other favorites
"I can't take him, he's not dead yet its against the regulations" "isnt there something you can do?" THUNK "Oh thank you very much"
"Well can't you just hit him in the head?"
My favorite is in the background of that scene where the peasant is smacking a live cat against the side of the house repeatedly while watching the goings on. "King Arthur: I am your king. Woman: Well, I didn't vote for you. Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you."

Sam has been "my" son since 2003. His Dad is coming to visit tonight, after about 6 years of no contact. Sam's going to be 18 in Feb, and while apprehensive, he realizes that he really doesn't even know him, so he's at least willing to give him a shot. He knows who his real Father is and even asked if I was OK with him coming up. Don't give up on it Nate; she may not even know you've been reaching out until you get past the gatekeeper.

When seated at a dining establishment with the family or having an adult beverage at a local watering hole, I've always felt the need to face the door and see who's coming and going. Just don't like the feeling of having my back to some Ringo & Hunny Bunny coming in and robbing the place or worse.

Cook the egg on a rock heated in the fire as the potato cooks. Then you don't lose any of it.
I was going to say that, but someone who doesn't know to avoid certain types of rock would try it, resulting in the rock overheating, and suffer a catastrophic failure of its surface structure, resulting in flying pieces of hardened geological surface, resulting in minor/major epidermal, vascular and musculatory injuries.
Or more realistically the egg would fall into the fire and they'd get mad.
Bobby, I was just going to ask if you were hanging out with Duane there. Speaking of whom, isn't there some light refraction solar oven system we are missing out on?
