Our Pro-Military, Veteran, and Thin Blue Line place / Tough warriors
« on: February 20, 2022, 05:01:51 PM »
You wouldn't know it to look at him, but the little old man in the center of this photo was one of the toughest Jarheads ever.
In 1942 when he was only 14, Jacklyn "Jack" Lucas enlisted in the Marine Corps after convincing the recruiter he was 17.
Posted to a depot unit at Pearl Harbor, Jack was bored and wanted action, so in January of 1945, he rolled up a combat uniform under his arm, sneaked out of camp, and stowed away aboard a Naval Transport that was taking 1st Battalion, 26th Marines, 5th Marine Division to Iwo Jima.
Not knowing what to do with him, the Marine battalion commander busted Jack one rank, then assigned him as rifleman to C Company. A few days later, Jack turned 17.*
The day after landing on Iwo Jima, Jack dove on top of one Japanese grenade then pulled another beneath him. The blast ripped through his body, but saved his comrades.
It took 21 surgeries to save him, and for the rest of his life carried in his body more than 200 large pieces of shrapnel.
On October 5th, 1945, Jack Lucas received the Medal of Honor from President Harry Truman in a ceremony on the White House lawn. He is the youngest Marine ever to receive the nation's highest honor.
He then returned to high school.... as a freshman.
After college, Jack entered the Army as a Captain in the 82nd Airborne, and survived a training jump in which neither his main chute nor his reserve chute opened.
Two years before he died in 2008, Jack was honored by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Michael W. Hagee, who presented him with a Medal of Honor ceremonial flag at the Marine Barracks in Washington, D.C.
It was during that ceremony that this photo was taken.

Faith Discussion / I wish you enough
« on: February 20, 2022, 04:05:30 PM »
Recently overheard was a father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.
Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'
The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.'
They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'
'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'..
'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral,' he said.
'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough..' May I ask what that means?'
He began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone...'
He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more. 'When we said, 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.' Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
He then began to cry and walked away.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.
Only if you wish, send this to the people you will never forget. If you don't send it to anyone it may mean that you are in such a hurry that you have forgotten your friends.

Many Americans, particularly our most senior politicians and military leaders, seem to have developed a form of dementia when it comes to warfare. The result is confusion or denial about the essential ingredients of a competent military force, and the costs of major power conflict. The memory loss is largely irrespective of political bent because all too many are seduced by a Hollywood-infused sense of antiseptic warfare and push-button solutions, while forgotten are the one million casualties of the Battle of the Somme in World War I, or the almost two million in the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II.

This “warfare dementia” is a dangerous and potentially catastrophic malady, because the price for it could alter the success of the American experiment and most assuredly will be paid in blood. The condition is exacerbated and enabled when the most senior military leaders — those who ought to know better — defer to the idealistic judgments of those whose credentials are either nonexistent or formed entirely by ideology.

The purpose of this essay is to explain the fundamental tenets of a military that will either deter potential enemies or decisively win the nation’s wars, thereby preserving our way of life. What follows are the tenets of Critical Military Theory:

1. The U.S. military has two main purposes — to deter our enemies from engaging us in warfare, and if that fails, to defeat them in combat. Deterrence is only possible if the opposing force believes it will be defeated. Respect is not good enough; fear and certainty are required.

Relevant Wisdom: “If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known that we are at all times ready for War.” George Washington.
2. To be true to its purpose, the U.S. military cannot be a mirror image of the society it serves. Values that are admirable in civilian society — sensitivity, individuality, compassion, and tolerance for the less capable — are often antithetical to the traits that deter a potential enemy and win the wars that must be fought: Conformity, discipline, unity.

Direct ground combat, of the type we must be prepared to fight, is only waged competently when actions are instinctive, almost irrationally disciplined, and wholly sacrificial when required. Consensus building, deference, and (frankly) softness have their place in polite society, but nothing about intense ground combat is polite — it is often sub-humanly coarse.

Relevant Wisdom: “We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to do violence on those who would harm us.” Attributed to George Orwell, possibly originally from Richard Grenier.
3. There is only one overriding standard for military capability: lethality. Those officeholders who dilute this core truth with civil society’s often appropriate priorities (diversity, gender focus, etc.) undermine the military’s chances of success in combat. Reduced chances for success mean more casualties, which makes defeat more likely. Combat is the harshest meritocracy that exists, and nothing but ruthless adherence to this principle contributes to deterrence and combat effectiveness.

Relevant Wisdom: “I shall see no officer under my command is debarred….from attending to his first duty, which is and always has been to train the private men under his command that they may without question beat any force opposed to them in the field.” The Duke of Wellington
4. A military should not be designed to win but to overwhelm. In baseball, you win if your total score is one run better than your opponent’s. In war, narrow victories incur what we call “the butcher’s bill.”  (A count of soldier casualties after a battle, sometimes used for civiliansafter a large disater.  "The fighting has ended for the night, what is the Butcher's Bill?"   "18 dead including 4 medics and another 45 wounded."

Relevant Wisdom: “But these things do not belong to war itself; they are only given conditions; and to introduce into the philosophy of war itself a principle of moderation would be an absurdity.” Carl Von Clausewitz.
5. Wars must be waged only with stone-cold pragmatism, not idealism, and fought only when critical national interests are at stake. Hopes for changing cultures to fit our model are both elitist and naive. The failures of our campaigns in Iraq and especially in Afghanistan confirm this.

Relevant Wisdom. “They enjoy playing poker with someone else’s chips.” B.V. Taylor
6. A military force’s greatest strengths are cohesion and discipline. Individuality or group identity is corrosive and a centrifugal force. Indeed, the military wears uniforms because uniformity is essential. The tenets of Critical Race Theory – a cross-disciplinary intellectual and social movement that seeks to examine the intersection of race and law in the United States, but which has the unfortunate effect of dividing people along racial lines – undermine our military’s unity and diminish our warfighting capabilities.

Recruit training teaches close order drill and the manual of arms (drill with weapons) not because they still have relevance to maneuvers on the field of battle, but because they instill a sense of how conformity creates efficiency and superior group results. Upon a firm foundation of cohesion, imaginative leaders can spark initiative and innovation. But when we highlight differences or group identity, we undermine cohesion and morale. Failure results.

Relevant Wisdom: “Four brave men who do not know each other will not dare to attack a lion. Four less brave, but knowing each other well, sure of their reliability and consequently of mutual aid, will attack resolutely. There is the science of the organization of armies in a nutshell.” Colonel Ardant du Picq.
7. “The enemy gets a vote.” An objective lens for military theory is how the nation’s foes regard our martial ethos; after all, that is what constitutes deterrence…or lack of it. Ferocity, not sensitivity, prevails.

Relevant Wisdom: “We will not fight them. They are not normal. When we shoot at them, they run towards us. If we fight them, we die. They are worse than the sons of Satan.” Taliban radio intercept after engaging U.S. forces.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I Love This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
8. Infantry and special operations forces are different. The mission of those who engage in direct ground combat is manifestly distinct, and their standards and requirements must be as well. Not necessarily better, but different. For direct ground combat units, only the highest levels of discipline, fitness, cohesion, esprit, and just plain grit are acceptable. Insist on making their conditions and standards conform to other military communities, and you weaken the temper of steel in these modern-day Spartans.

Relevant Wisdom: “It is fatal to enter a war without the will to win it.” General Douglas MacArthur.
9. Those who enlist in our military swear an oath to carry out dangerous, sometimes fatal duties. We call it “being in the service,” because it’s service to others….selfless sacrifices when the other option was often more comfort, freedom, individuality, and higher pay. Those who occupy the most senior ranks of the military must repay this selflessness with courage that is even rarer — moral courage. Civilian control of the military is indisputable, but its corollary is the ordinary principle that advice is sought, offered, and seriously considered before crucial decisions are made. My personal experience provides examples — the willful exclusion of military judgments in the build-up to the Iraq War with the attendant consequence that the invasion force was too shallow (thereby creating a vacuum which the insurgents quickly filled), and the decision to disband the Iraqi Army (the single most unifying institution in that country) after the collapse of the Baathist regime. A more recent example worth considering involves the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Relevant Wisdom: “There’s a great deal of talk about loyalty from the bottom to the top.  Loyalty from the top down is even more necessary and is much less prevalent.” General George S. Patton.
So what’s the problem? The problem today is one of both priorities and standards. We signal a dangerous shift in priorities (as just one example) when global warming, not preparedness to defeat aggressive global competitors, is considered the greatest problem for the Department of Defense and headquarters and rank inflation blossom out of control to the point that the support element greatly diminishes the ground combat element that wins wars. A problem of standards when every service and the Special Operations community dilute requirements based purely on merit in favor of predetermined outcomes to favor social engineering goals, and when new training requirements crowd out expectations and measurements of combat performance.

This principle is the most clearly and frequently violated in our current military environment. Although the examples are many, the most egregious sidestepping of scientific evidence occurred when the U.S. Marine Corps’ lengthy examination of the effects of integrated (coed) ground combat performance was refuted and ignored (often by those who hadn’t read it). This brings to mind the verbiage used in another context: “inconvenient truths.”

The critical tasks outlined above may omit some essentials, but these serve as a starter and perhaps as a wake-up call. We have witnessed extraordinary and sacrificial service by our Armed Forces — too good to squander by confusing our military’s purpose with those of individuals who don’t pay in blood for their errors. And too good for a foe to misjudge our intrinsic toughness. In any case, these are not Critical Military Theories; these are Critical Military Facts.

Bought my beautiful wife a new Cadillac today

Picked up a 2022 XT6 AWD

What a beauty (Both of them) I parked it in the driveway and hid when she came home. Should have seen it...She was squealing like a school girl she was so happy. Pre-Ranger and I watched her climb all over it. She was clapping her hands and giggling...Was so cool.

Tomorrow we drive it to Savannah. Going to give our boy a hug before he departs for Europe. He is one of the soldiers who got called up. His Battalion of M1's and Bradleys will soon be staring across a fence at Russian soldiers. I thought we had better go steal some time with him...

I just purchased a 60" Diamond disc mulcher.

It is one beast of a machine capable of taking an entire standing tree and taking it down to mulch in seconds. Literally, you can take a 4" 25 foot tall tree, cut it and shred the entire thing into chips in maybe 2-3 seconds!

Jerry Seinfeld with President Obama

I did not vote for the man, nor agree with him, however this little interplay is pretty good. Seinfeld really brings out the "man" in the former president.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / CIEMR: Love thy neighbor
« on: February 07, 2022, 10:11:04 AM »
I'm on a roll here...

CIERS
(Coffee Induced Early Morning Sermon)

Take a look at this:

Mark 12:30–31
"'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

Jesus is saying to us to love the father and him with everything. He is telling us that is the first and most important thing we should do...OK, copy that.

But look where he goes right after that:
Love your neighbor as yourself

Love is central to a relationship, a healthy relationship with God. Without it we are of no mind to live anything like what he would have us live like. Doing the little and sometimes the big things for those around us is a demonstration of and is practicing neighborly love. What would we all be like if an offensive comment was not met with anger, but instead with us quoting a verse like these I have offered here back to the offender? Then immediately forgiving the offending person?

Well, I for one, think that many, many outcomes would be vastly different.

He says it again in Luke:

Luke 10:27
So he answered and said, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.'"

And in Matthew:

Matthew 22:37–39
Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'

Again here:

Romans 13:9
For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

And even the Galatians get a piece of this action here:

Galatians 5:14
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Ya think Jesus's brother would be left out of this one? No way, for he says:

James 2:8
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well ...

Hmmm, I'm seein' a pattern here. I might remind you that many a good man, and woman have all said about me, "That warrant officer right there is none too bright!" And sadly I must agree, but hit me on the head three, four, five, or six times, and I am going to take evasive action. Not guaranteeing I may not bend up your expensive helicopter a bit, but I'm gonna do something!

Love is not that complicated, really. If you just get back to practicing common sense and pick up the good book more often than you pick up that greasy junk food slider, you're going to notice some things. I can testify because I have. (Noticed a few things).

I have noticed that loving one's neighbor is possible, and with practice becomes easier. (Yes, even if they voted the wrong party!!!!). Simple biblical principal practiced in one's life results in a happier voyage down that long river that does end someday. Picking up marching orders along the way can help. I once had wonderful men in my life give me pointers. (Thank you Captain/Colonel Coleman...The Binker, General Brown) They referred to those pointers as orders. Those men could have ordered me to walk across a field of broken glass, sleep on a bed of nails, and vote democrat, and I would have done it.

All of us aren't as fortunate as to have people of this stature in their lives, but we all have Jesus. We all have God, and those two are far, far greater than any earthly being you or I can ever point to. So, either listen or toss this out, it's your choice, but love your neighbor. Pick up the bible and flip a page or two. Call upon Jesus to be your friend and guide. Check out Romans 10:9 and give this message some consideration. I am loving you by sharing this. I am doing what I am supposed to do by sharing this simple message

Now, as we say in the Armee, Jock up, get your game face on, and get it done!

I was fortunate to have attended a pretty elite Marine Corps school. They call it "Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course," But I'd call it the Marine's version of "Top-Gun."

That started a long and lasting friendship between me and some Marines I have met and befriended along the way. I was fortunate to have operated with them in several theaters and in combat in Afghanistan. Good group of warriors.

Ran across some cool pics of their latest instrument of death. Cool birds!

LAMBEAU FIELD

Those who attended the game said it was extremely emotional to see the entire bowl of the stadium turn red, white and blue. It took 90 workers two weeks to get the entire colored card boards mounted under each seat.  Each piece of card board had eye slits in them so the fans could hold up the colored sheet and still see through the eye slits.  Every seat had to have the proper card, with no mistakes, to make this happen.

This is what ESPN failed to show you Monday night, Apparently, they thought their commercials were more important than showing this scene for about 5 seconds.

Everything Trailer, Camper, or RV related / New Kaufman trailer
« on: January 28, 2022, 03:59:35 PM »
I just purchased a new Kaufman trailer

Actually, I just placed my order for a new Kaufman trailer after going through a few loops with Big Tex

Side note from that experience: DO NOT buy a Big Tex trailer unless you just are flushed with cash!

The total cost for a 17,000 GVW twin axle 20' Kaufman with LED lighting, a spare 17.5" H-rated heavy steel wheel/tire and a pintle hitch was:$7653.30 which I consider a fair price. It has uprated steel ramps since it is meant for skid steers and other very heavy things and a lifetime warranty wiring harness made by an automotive supplier

The price for the Big-Tex 16ET, which has a 16,000GVW is: $13,684.00. Anyone see anything wrong with that? If not, maybe you need to be elsewhere, you're on the wrong web site!

More to come but the Kaufman trailer weighs 3,350 lbs, which leaves a net capacity of 13,650 lbs.

They require that you pay 10% when ordering, then the balance when you pick it up

This trailer will take 8 weeks to be built. According to Sandra over at Kaufman, they are building right at 1000 trailers a month, and I am simply placed in Queue.

Once built, I will have to pick it up at the factory which is located in Lexington, N.C. which I think will make for a nice two day trip for Kat and I.

Sharing a letter I just wrote to Big Tex

I just wanted to let you know my experience with the Walton, KY and now the Covington Big Tex store. But first I'll say I have purchased many trailers from you in the past, including an equipment trailer, then another, and then a 16K Dump trailer to name the most recent.

Beginning early last year I went in shopping for a 16K equipment, bumper pull trailer to pull my rubber track machine. They didn't have any and told me they would let me know when the next one came in, and like a fool I believed them. Well, I didn't hear anything, so after some time I went back. I could see they didn't remember me at all (Although I have purchased before several times). So I again asked for a 16K equipment trailer. I think then I was given the COVID excuse, but nothing on the web site indicated the 16K was not being built. I made a bit of noise and witnessed the lady writing down my request. I suggested ordering it then.

Well the weeks and months go by and by the fall, I had nothing. I was going to work that rubber track machine for the local deer hunters, a $1500 a day proposition for land clearing. So I went back and of course, I get a bunch of excuses and now they no longer answer the phone all the time. Well yesterday I called and couldn't get the Walton store after calling several times, so I called the national number which got me in touch with someone in Louisiana, Now that person was willing to drive all over kingdom-come and find one! So I called back again but this time the phone rang in Covington, KY. I explained everything to the girl there. She was apologetic, and I don't need apologies, just a trailer. I told her she had yesterday to find me a trailer or I was ordering a Kaufman trailer. She said she would look, but she never called me back. If any company ever has not earned my business, that company is you in the hand of these non-caring dealerships.

As a retired Army officer I felt I owed you this information but I do not want to buy from you any more, as I am performance oriented and low performers ought to get cut from the team.

In closing, I hope you can fix this problem, but I fear it is systemic and representative of all America. I am not impressed with the work ethic of the current generation manning the sales counters everywhere.

This letter will be shared on social media

Intel / 22 Warships, USS Harry Truman battle group, sortieing
« on: January 24, 2022, 02:47:25 PM »
Pay attention to this, it is big. We just pulled an entire battle group off Taiwan to cover the eminent Russian invasion of the Ukraine. And the biggest thing is that US Battle group is going to fall under NATO command! That means a US Flag officer will not be in command, but likely a Brit or German or??

The short of that is that US pilots may actually be shooting Russians under a NATO flag. I don't want to frighten, but this could spiral out of control and what if they shoot down some US warplanes...and we go in after them.

This is shaping up to be the largest armed conflict between technologically equal nations in a couple of generations.

All of these vessels were sortied by the US Navy either on the 18th, or in the wee hours of the 17th.

It is no secret that tensions with Russia are extremely high, and talk of actual war within days is on the agenda.  Yet the mass media in the USA is keeping the American people blissfully unaware of war preparations actively underway by the US government.

Given the number of AMPHIBIOUS ASSUALT SHIPS, one cannot help but wonder if the United States intends to try to TAKE CRIMEA BY FORCE to give it back to Ukraine?

If not Crimea, then where else might the US be sending fully loaded Amphibious assault ships?  Kaliningrad, perhaps?  Will the US try to grab Kaliningrad to prevent Russia from placing missiles there against Europe?

Whatever is taking place, it is abundantly clear that Tuesdays deployment of so many US warships at the same time signals that something wicked this way comes.  War with Russia seems likely.

And if it comes, the American people will have no clue how it evolved, or that it was completely the US fault for not negotiating fairly or honestly with Russia over its legitimate security concerns about NATO expansion, right up to Ukraine which is Russia's literal front porch.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Are you a man or just a male?
« on: January 23, 2022, 03:22:08 PM »
Inspired by something Shawn sent me:

CIEMR: Are you a man or just a male?

Begging the ladies pardon and speaking to the males here, I think that question lies right at the core of what is wrong with America and latter day American culture. Speaking to you older folks out there, can you see your parents agreeing with any of this WOKE nonsense or going along with someone telling a bold face lie in a manner which is supposed to represent you? Not on your life would any men I knew who were older than me have anything to do with this foolishness.

So let’s review some of those lies that have been spoken over all of us. I remember President Obama saying that we were a Muslim nation, and I remember him telling us how Islam played an important part of our cultural development in the days of Thomas Jefferson. Errr, check that. The only things Muslims did for us then were to raid our commercial shipping and serve as targets for our new US Marine Corps Marksmen. Oh and just a week ago, this sitting president made another statement I find reprehensible. He said that one George Floyd had a greater impact on American culture than Martin Luther King has had. Preposterous! What a buffoon! Sadly he and his cronies probably believe that to be true! So do any of you subscribe to nonsense like that? If you’re still reading this, I’m guessing not. Good! But that means the executive branch of our guberment does not align with our thinking. Yea, I know, big surprise there.

Back to my point, are you a man or just an adult male? You should know straight up. Further, that woman sitting near you can also tell you whether or not you are a man, unless of course, she is listening to Black Lives matter podcasts and is sporting some unusual never-before-seen hair color. I know who I am, I am a man of God. It’s quite simple really. I do what a man does, and on a fair number of occasions fail miserably in the execution of doing so, but let’s continue. I am grounded in my faith. I am strong in my beliefs. Know me and you will either have no better friend, nor no worse enemy. I will stand up for what is right in the face of overwhelming opposition, heck, I’m doing it right here. I am patriotic and no flag burning weasel will ever get grace from me as I have a few life defining moments involving that flag to my credit.

I am a man. I aspire to be a real man. I am not there. The greatest Real man I have ever known is Jesus, our Christ. He took it and took it and never gave it back. You know he could have simply wished it and the thought alone could have burned mankind off the face of the planet? Now that is strength, but what I see that is greater than that is the fact that he withheld. So that must be a part of being a man. You have the power, but you control it, so from this example we could say that self-control is an indicator of being a man. And in full disclosure, someone else needs to talk about that one, since I would be a frequent failure in that area.

A man loves and he cares for his own. He nurtures and sacrifices for his wife and his children, his friends, extended family, and even his neighbors. Sometimes he sacrifices for someone who he does not know. Right this very second some sailor is manning the watch on a US warship off the coast of Taiwan staring down the Chinese navy. Although he does it because it is his duty, he, unfortunately is also doing it for that hate filled purple hair BLM pod-cast listener as well.

A man can usually point to the place where he became an actual man. Could have been when first striking out on his own or the day he completed Marine Corps basic which is anything but. It could have been the moment he took a knee before the most beautiful woman in the world, or perhaps it was the day he watched a parent or friend pass on into eternity. It is oftentimes personal with experiences as sorted as life itself. But similar to surrendering to the overwhelming love of God in the act of salvation, becoming a man is a point in time when you are no longer a boy or just a full grown drone, errr, male and you become a man.

The women out there will be in the greatest agreement with me. They are sick and tired of boys playing on their X-box and talking like a bunch of hens. They want us to be men, need us to be. And so does our nation. If there were actual men and not a bunch of grown boys filling the streets, well for one thing, we wouldn’t see much crime any more. We wouldn’t have open borders. We would dam well know who we are as a nation and so would everyone else. Places like Iran would be one huge training camp for the US Army.

Men have courage and can take a reasonable beating and still land on their feet. They are powerful and God intended them to be. I believe the devil wants men to find their feminine side. I believe he wants men to have desire for other men and for us to cower away from big challenges. What is that popular phrase? Evil exists because good men did nothing to stop it. Think that isn’t true?

So here’s the thing. Men respect the law, follow rules and try not to be much trouble to anyone. We are content to just love our families and nation and live peaceful, reasonable lives. But what happens when the walls start to push in on us? Our willingness to comply with the law is one thing, but in a rational and civil society, the other side ought to respect our lives the way we are asked to accommodate theirs. But what is happening is that over long stretches of time the devil has been pushing in. In some places, well, many places now, he says you do not have the right to personal safety but need to sacrifice so that criminal elements of our society can more freely express themselves.

That is bull crap and it can no longer be tolerated. These laws and rules and social pressures have done just about nothing to quell the spirit of a real man. He is pressed too far and will soon explode, this author believes. Force is about to be met with asymmetric force because make no mistake ten of these shims (She/him neutral gender thing) is out matched by even one of us. Like I said before we are strong.

A man is a man, and in the absence of a field of men holding the line, the few real men remaining are going to make a profound difference all across America if the direction of change is not halted or changed.

D.O.T. / Wife says get a new truck
« on: January 22, 2022, 08:08:51 PM »
Ya, Wife is tired of my truck and Suburban projects.

So this is how this all started. We were planning around the purchase of a new camper. Reason: Park it often down at Ft. Stewart so we can see our Pre-Ranger there several times a year for a week at a time, and Va-ca in the Savannah area, which we like.

So Kat listened to me way too much and she thinks I should buy a big slide-in camper because I keep talking about driving to the Artic Ocean and touring around Canada in the summer. She thinks the slide in option would be the best move.

But, that introduces a host of issues.

First of all is that I would need a 1 ton Dually. We have been looking at them and I believe I'd chose the F-350 as my first choice, the Ram 3500 second and that still-ugly and less powerful 3500 Silverado as a more distant third choice.

The F350 that would best fit would be a Lariat at around $75K or a Ranch edition at $83k-$85k list. Now in my mind that is prohibitive in cost. She wants me to sell my 2011 Duramax, my 2002 Suburban and that pop up camper I built. But after all of that I would still need $$$ to purchase the slide in which costs around $80K new and maybe $45k used. My favorites are the Host Mammoth, the Everest and something else they build, the Bigfoot triple slide and another one from Chalet. They are all 11' 6" long and weigh somewhere near 6,000 or more.

So, I'm bent up over this. I just powder-coated the wheels and some suspension parts on my Duramax, and I have to say, I made one POOR choice in colors. Thinking a white wheel would look retro, it actually looks hick-ish and I am not happy at all with it.

So I have a Suburban which cost me more than my first house to sell, a Duramax with only 134k on it which is perfectly fine and pretty good looking still, but in it's 11th year, and a camper which did not make it to the Trans-America camp trip due to a variety of reasons.

And on top of everything I am just about done with projects of the magnitude I have tackled. Oh, yea, she is about 500% against putting a D-max into the burb. She says "You aren't spending all that time in that garage again... on and on...

The fact is she is right about many of the points she makes. Things like, I'm going to be 70 in a couple of years, need to spend time with people while they are still here...I have a cabin to build down farmside, and stuff like that. Hard to deny any of that.

I'd say I am in a quandary of my own making here.

Can you believe my Bengals?????

Going on the the AFC Championship

So, for years, decades, actually we have not had a coach and have suffered with a lackluster performance. But finally with a new Quarterback and a New Head Coach and a host of new and good players, well, finally they are playing football.

I had an ancient 1991 division championship hoodie that I wore in Afghanistan every time I flew when the Bengals were playing ten thousand miles away. Last Sunday, I was finally able to retire that ragged thing when we won the division title, first time since 1991. That was Desert Storm, I'll remind you. And now we just followed that up by making it to the AFC Championship game next week.

I won't even begin to hope we show up in the Superbowl, no this is a blessing all in itself. But folks, we are looking good!

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Camels are on our horizon

Camels on the Horizon

Interesting take on history.

Didn’t Thomas Jefferson say something like, “My great grandfather was a warrior so my grandfather could be a farmer so that my father could be a merchant so that I could be a scholar”?

Read a kaleidoscope of truth and reality below.

Camels on the Horizon:

The founder of Dubai, Sheik Rashid, was asked about the future of his country, and he replied, "My grandfather rode a camel, my father rode a camel, I ride a Mercedes, my son rides a Land Rover, and my grandson is going to ride a Land Rover…but my great-grandson is going to have to ride a camel again. “Why is that, he was asked?

And his reply was, “Hard times create strong men, strong men create easy times. Easy times create weak men, weak men create difficult times.

Many will not understand it, but you have to raise warriors, not parasites.”

And add to that the historical reality that all great empires...the Persians, the Trojans, the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, and in later years, the British...all rose and perished within 240 years.

They were not conquered by external enemies; they rotted from within.

America has now passed that 240 year mark, and the rot is starting to be visible and is accelerating.

We are past the Mercedes and Land Rover Years….the camels are on the horizon.

The greatest generation consisted of 18 year old kids storming the beaches at “Normandy”.

And now, two generations later, some 18-year-old kids want to hide in safe rooms when they hear words that hurt their feelings.

They also want free stuff from the government because they think they are entitled to it.

The "camels are on the horizon" for sure…

OK Folks, I am throwing in the towel on this Burb as a gasser project.

After a super effort spanning a couple of years, I have finally come to the conclusion that the gas 6.0 will never work in this application.

Stock, the truck could get out of its own way, barely but suffered from poor mileage and I doubt it would be worth a crap pulling a camper up over the divide.

Even with a supercharger, it has been only marginally better. A lot more power, but still mileage so poor as to relegate it to a truck to be used on short trips only.

I looked into converting it over to a 12 valve Cummins and I could do that but not with retaining the stock gage cluster and all those wonderful features that make the suburban a great truck to drive and own.

As Charles has said all along, the only thing that would make sense and last would be to transplant a Duramax which the 2400 Silverado's came with.

So, moving forward, I will purchase a donor silverado and remove everything duramax related from it, then just plug all that back together inside the Suburban. I'll probably rebuild the motor and trans and maybe the T-case too, since I think the D-max uses a 63 T-case in lieu of the 46 case I currently own. Anyway, standby for a standby as I source a donor truck

Faith Discussion / 100 Days of Prayer
« on: January 10, 2022, 10:48:43 AM »
Gentlemen,

I attended a rather profound service yesterday at 7-Hills church in Florence KY. We enjoy a gifted orator of a pastor who time and time again delivers messages that just get right at your (Christian) core.

This weeks message was a standout and I learned some secrets of the bible and about how God moves.

One thing I learned was that The kingdom responds mightily to prayer requests at two times daily, those being 9 AM and 3 PM. There are example after example of heaven showing up at those two times. Those two hours, by the way, coincide with prayer time for the Jewish nation, no small coincidence.

Another thing I learned was to keep petitioning God over and over until he answers your prayer. Keep in mind, he may not answer it in the way you have asked, but he will answer your prayer.
Example: If you pray for God to give you a million dollars just so you can buy a bunch of things, he may not do exactly that. But you just may someday realize you have always had everything you needed, and lots of money showed up at times of great need, especially when you were being generous.

You see I thought you asked God once for something, like, "God please protect my wife and children." I believed if I kept praying for that it was as if I was thinking God needed a reminder and to keep him from forgetting. But I was wrong about that. We are to keep petitioning our Father until we see movement and resolution.

I heard and felt the word of truth from Pastor Mechum yesterday.

So, I am committing to 100 days of prayer for all the men who come to this place in the universe. I am going to ask God every day for his protection over all ov you. I am going to ask him for prosperity, health, and for all of you to have the giants in your life set aside to the glory of the kingdom. If you want to, PM me with your particular need, and I will write it down and pray over that every day going forward for 100 days.

I would like to ask as many of you as can to pray with me for the health and welfare for all the men who come here. Ask God to enrichen their lives with a new hunger for him, and for righteousness, to order their steps that their toes would not strike a single stone. Our world is plummeting into an abyss with wars and hard times on the horizon. We already have disease, and famine may well come. We will have our freedoms challenged more than ever as the enemy working even through the highest seats of our own government will work to quelch the fires of Christianity. Sure enough times will get tough, but our God wins! Jesus will return and reclaim this world and destroy the enemy. We may not survive with an earthly body, but we will return to reign over this world,

So

Pray with me if you will

For the next 100 days

and

Let's all experience what God does in our lives!

Oh, and I cheated...I started yesterday so I could get 101 days in recognition of a certain Army division, and just an extra day of praying for all of you!

D.O.T. / "Thoren" Publishing a book
« on: December 28, 2021, 05:31:09 PM »
If you followed my thread about writing a book to entertain my pre-ranger son who was in Infantry school at Ft. Benning, well I did that. I wrote 10 chapters around 90,000 words and am presently finishing the final three chapters to finish the work.

I originally wrote it just for him, but with an eye toward perhaps publishing the work so that many could enjoy as well. It was read by recruits in his basic training and advanced infantry training company over the months and was widely liked.

So I contacted three publishing companies to see it it was something worthy of publishing. There is a process there and incase there are any aspiring novelists here, I'll share what the process looks like if you also have a work of some kind you'd like to get on a shelf somewhere.

As of today all three companies like the work and have submitted it to their people for an evaluation. I just got an acceptance letter from the first company, so this just became a real possibility.

The book is called "Thoren" It is an epic story roughly akin to the lord of the rings trilogy. Like Tolkien's work, mine will also be told in three separate full books. It's just too big a story to fit into one book which I'd like to keep to around 250 pages.

It’s gotten so bad I actually agree with Bill Maher.

A very sobering message, especially to our politicians (Republicans and Democrats) in Washington.

"Real Time" host Bill Maher closed his show Friday night by sounding the alarm on China's growing dominance over the United States. Why are Americans sleeping?...We aren't sleeping, we are spending our time teaching and assisting little boys how to become little girls!!! And, if we aren't busy doing that we have the Sec of Defense, responding to an order from the 'commander' in chief, designing stylish new uniforms for pregnant ‘soldiers ’

"You're not going to win the battle for the 21st century if you are such silly people. And Americans are all silly people," Maher began the monologue, alluding to a "Lawrence of Arabia" quote.

Do you know who doesn't care that there's a stereotype of a Chinese man in a Dr. Seuss book? China," he said. "All 1.4 billion of them couldn't give a crouching tiger flying f--- because they're not silly people. If anything, they are as serious as a prison fight. ”

Maher acknowledged that China does "bad stuff" from the concentration camps of Uyghur Muslims to its treatment of Hong Kong. But he stressed, "There's got to be something between an authoritarian government that tells everyone what to do and a representative government that can't do anything at all. ”

"In two generations, China has built 500 entire cities from scratch, moved the majority of their huge population from poverty to the middle class, and mostly cornered the market in 5G and pharmaceuticals. Oh, and they bought Africa," Maher said, pointing to China's global Silk Road infrastructure initiative.

He continued: "In China alone, they have 40,000 kilometers of high-speed rail. America has none. ... We've been having Infrastructure Week every week since 2009 but we never do anything. Half the country is having a never-ending woke competition deciding whether Mr.   Potato Head has a dick and the other half believes we have to stop the lizard people because they're eating babies. We are such silly people.

"Nothing ever moves in this impacted colon of a country. We see a problem and we ignore it, lie about it, fight about it with each other, endlessly litigate it, sunset clause it, kick it down the road, and then write a bill where a half assed solution doesn't kick in for 10 years," Maher explained. Then the half assed bill is forgotten.

"China sees a problem and they fix it. They build a dam. We debate what to rename it. ”

The HBO star cited how it took "ten years" for a bus line in San Francisco to pass its environmental review and how it took "16 years" to build the Big Dig tunnel in Boston, comparing that to a 57-story skyscraper that China built in "19 days" and Beijing's Sanyuan Bridge, which was demolished and rebuilt in "43 hours. ”

"We binge-watch, they binge-build. When COVID hit Wuhan, the city built a quarantine center with 4,000 rooms in 10 days and they barely had to use it because they quickly arrested the rest of the disease," Maher said. "They were back to throwing raves in swimming pools while we were stuck at home surfing the dark web for black market Charmin. We're not losing to China, we LOST. The returns just haven't all come in yet. They've made robots that check a kid's temperature and got their asses back in school. Most of our kids are still pretending to take Zoom classes while they watch TikTok and their brain cells fully commit ritual suicide." Our teacher's unions are finding every single way to keep themselves on the payroll, but keep students out of the classrooms. WAKE UP AMERICANS!! That means ALL of YOU.

Maher then blasted New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, accusing him of degrading school standards by eliminating merit and substituting a lottery system for admittance to schools for advanced learners. Our country is going down the toilet.

"Do you think China's doing that, letting political correctness get in the way of nurturing their best and brightest?" Maher continued. "Do you think Chinese colleges and universities are offering courses in 'The Philosophy of Star Trek, 'The Sociology of Seinfeld,' and 'Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse'? Can this be real? Well, let me tell you, China is real. And they are eating our lunch. And believe me, in an hour, they'll be hungry again."

I would add that the rot being developed internally by groups such as BLM, extreme right wing and left-wing groups, along with the free loaders, and a hundred other groups are perhaps a far greater threat than China, because they are all around us, and we tax paying, country loving, hardworking individuals just sit back and watch it take place.  That people like Omar, and AOC, others can be elected, should just make you vomit.

That a statue of George Floyd could be put up in Minneapolis and some historical statues taken down should tell you that its off the rails, way off the rails, and unless it is stopped by the people who care about the matter, I fear that we are not going to get back on the track heading in the right direction.   God bless America

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / CIEMR: Cultural Change in America
« on: December 19, 2021, 10:46:21 AM »
Cultural Change in America

The cultural divide deepens. We “Normal” Americans are far and apart from those who believe that socialism and communism is a preferred way of life. We are in a war, about that I have no doubt. Those of you who choose to love God and go to church are in the crosshairs. You who believe it is your right to make choices about yours or your children’s lives are enemies of the other side. If you think you get to make the decision as to whether or not you vaccinate, you are literally hated by those on this dark side of our culture.

There was a time when all this nonsense we hear today was simply not evident. Growing up as a child, I didn’t know anything about homosexuality. I did not know much about divides between various races. I just played around in the woods and the parks and the streams of Maryland with my white and black and Hispanic friends. We were just kids. It was a time free of labels. I never heard of ADHD or any other multi letter something or another that so commonplace today. Was it that we just hadn’t defined these psychological conditions back then? Or perhaps they just weren’t around?

I knew of bullies, that’s for sure. I still remember the name of mine, “Mickey,” A Puerto Rican. I did not however know of any safe zone, except perhaps my bedroom. All I knew was that I was going to get pummeled on any day for no reason other than being in school. But one day I stood up to that guy who towered over me and I missed with the first swing but planted a solid second one that cut my knuckle and lost him a tooth. And then my problems just went away, all at once. I learned that facing my problem and taking action, MYSELF, brought about the solution.

I felt that people who went to church were really good people, but I did not feel as though those who didn’t weren’t good as well, I guess I never saw much difference. And politics were certainly always there. My dad a WW2 B-17 pilot was a democrat, and he did not like republicans. My uncle was too, so I thought that democrats were the party of good men. But as time went on and I saw things for myself, I registered and voted Republican. And you know what? It didn’t cause any sort of a rift in my family. We were all free to choose under the guarantees of the constitution and people just accepted that.

That constitution thing. From my earliest lessons on it in the third grade, I think, I could see the majesty of it. I could only compare it to the bible from my limited experience, and it seemed to sound about the same. It was a document above men. It was in some higher dimension and it simply ruled over us like this invisible God.  But now all that is challenged, everywhere.

We have battlegrounds aplenty these days. We have one at our southern border. Illegals by the hundred thousand flood across it, diluting our culture by disrespecting our laws. And we are a nation of laws…that constitution thing. We have a battleground in our schools where counter culture and counter-republic idealisms are quietly taught by left leaning teachers. By the way, we don’t need right leaning teachers to counter, we just need no-leaning teachers to simply teach the facts. We have a crisis in government. There is ample evidence coming out that too many dead people and dogs voted in the previous elections, and some illegal aliens voted way too many times. This needs to be looked into and settled in our court system.

But what if we as a government decide to just sweep this under the rug? Well for sure lady liberty on Stratton Island will be sporting a big black eye! You can’t have a country of laws if we do not enforce the laws. And enforcing immigration laws would be one of those things that we should be doing, but by direction of our president, we are not doing. So that is not right, and Lady Liberty gets another right hook to her noggin. I suspect she is starting to get a bit perturbed.

That’s where that this battleground thing starts to become more prominent. We as a nation had something like this happen to us some time ago. I want to say it was a little past the mid 1700’s. People a long way from here kept making more and more rules that we found to be unfair and draconian. We started to push back, once wasting tons of perfectly good tea in some harbor, but it did not stop there. When that far away government realized the people were growing uneasy, their leader told their army to confiscate all our assault weapons. Well, folks at Lexington Green in Concord Massachusetts were having no part in that and started a war with these overly confident rulers from so far away. London, England and Washington DC are starting to look very much alike in the modern context.

Well things are cooking up here in just the same fashion. There will be many who might argue that we are not that far along, and they are entitled to their opinion. But I think we are. My country is dying under this progressive control. Our police are no longer effective because progressive District Attorneys over rule them and liberal judges set criminals free. We take a case of simple self-defense and try to spin it into some white KKK assignation plot. Looking at TV these days did you notice that almost all of the commercials have only black actors? Yea, it’s true, and if there were some economic reason for it, such as black people selling a shoe or a car amounted in a doubling of sales, then I’d say, go for it.

But that’s not it. What we have is reprogramming of our culture and our kids. Although I don’t really care about the black/white thing because as a former soldier I see people as Americans and not Hispanic Americans or white Americans. But to see the total swing of this influencing media over to black actors and actresses in such a short time period harkens to a hastening of the rate of change. Someone is trying to change the culture’s way of thinking about things. Or, perhaps someone is hoping to fan the flames of the racial divide so that we start fighting. A good old fight like the one we saw in Alabama when Dr. King was trying to set things right could be reason for the left to impose some more rules, use police or the military, all done to focus on the racial fighting while they move further to consolidate their leftist agenda.

I’ve been saying this for some time. We are getting close to a fight. We already have one in L.A., in Portland, in New York, in Chicago, heck, in every progressive managed city in our nation. I’d rather fight this in a school board meeting, at the ballot office, in a courtroom, or on the steps of some state capital. I’ve seen first time, many times what a real gunfight looks like and believe me, you won’t like it. I’d rather stand with the forces of good and support them as far as I can, and point out these little baby steps the left is constantly taking, and I will. But come fight time, I am prepared to defend the constitution to my last breath. I hope that millions are with me…

What happened to White People in America?

We've all noticed this-- but I'm glad someone put it together...

If you haven't noticed this trend....you haven't been paying attention!!

What suddenly happened to the White People in America?

Of the 328.2 million total citizens, there are 236.5 million Whites in the United States or 72% of the population!

A spreadsheet of TV commercials shows the following over a 4-month period:

White men have all but disappeared!

When they are in commercials they are either:

·       Old, ugly and sick or:

·       They are the partner of a Black Woman

·       And have no speaking part!

In 3 of the commercials, the white men are doing laundry and always paired with a little girl to whom they are delivering the clean clothes.

There were zero commercials of White Fathers and Sons. None!

Equally disturbing, young White Boys and teens have also disappeared.

The study found a majority of the children were White Girls with a Black "Brother"!

Mostly TV commercial couples consist of a White Woman with a Black Man.

Are they trying to program the young people of today?

Amazingly, in the month of December there was an uptick in good looking White Male models. Research determined that in each and every case it was a cologne commercial and every one of those commercials were made in Europe where they still use muscular, masculine White Men.

One insurance commercial featured a good-looking White Guy in his 20's.

He was so mind-numbingly stupid that he was incapable of delivering his lines and couldn't even say "Liberty Mutual" the insurance company featured in the commercial.

Over a period of 4-months it concluded that:

·       While the African-American population in America is only 12%, they were in 84.3% of the commercials.

·       Black Males are only 5% of our population yet were in 79.7% of the ads.

White Males make up the largest segment of our population:

·       Yet were only in 4% of the TV commercials!

·       In most of those cases they are in their 60's to 80's and were pushing medication for debilitating diseases, reverse mortgages (i.e. Tom Selleck) or Medicare Plans.

·       While the study had many, many more alarming facts, one that really stands out is that:

·       Each and every ad for new cars featured a Woman driver except for Lincoln.

·       Only one ad included a White Male passenger and he is not behind the wheel, a Black Woman is.

·       In the commercials for automobiles there were more Black Women drivers than White Women.

·       Again, Europe was the exception here Mercedes and BMW had NO VISIBLE DRIVERS!! They showed the cars cruising highways with license plates that were obviously European but never allowed a view where the driver was visible. I found that very interesting.

These questions:

·       Who casts these commercial shoots?

·       Who directs the directors to cast certain ‘types’?

·       How did this trend in commercials happen all at the same time?

·       Was it at federal government direction?

Can you say conspiracy?

·       What is going on here?

·       De-masculinization of the White American Male?

Looks like White lives don’t matter and Black privilege has taken over!

BEST MEME EVER:     If you believe that Joe Biden, who lost two attempted presidential runs, then on his third attempt, hid in his basement and refused to campaign, got the most votes in history … you’re way too stupid to argue with!

By James L. Holly

I have a Master’s Degree in History and I did not know this.

John Guy writes: "What God did at Pearl Harbor that day is interesting and I never knew this little bit of history.
Tour boats ferry people out to the USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii every thirty minutes. We just missed a ferry and had to wait thirty minutes. I went into a small gift shop to kill time.

In the gift shop, I purchased a small book entitled, "Reflections on Pearl Harbor" by Admiral Chester Nimitz.
Sunday, December 7th, 1941— Admiral Chester Nimitz was attending a concert in Washington, DC. He was paged and told there was a phone call for him. When he answered the phone, it was President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on the phone.

He told Admiral Nimitz that he (Nimitz) would now be the Commander of the Pacific Fleet. Admiral Nimitz flew to Hawaii to assume command of the Pacific Fleet. He landed at Pearl Harbor on Christmas Eve, 1941. There was such a spirit of despair, dejection, and defeat--you would have thought the Japanese had already won the war.

On Christmas Day, 1941, Adm. Nimitz was given a boat tour of the destruction wrought on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. Big sunken battleships and navy vessels cluttered the waters everywhere you looked. As the tour boat returned to dock, the young helmsman of the boat asked, "Well Admiral, what do you think after seeing all this destruction?"

Admiral Nimitz's reply shocked everyone within the sound of his voice. Admiral Nimitz said, "The Japanese made three of the biggest mistakes an attack force could ever make, or God was taking care of America. Which do you think it was?"

Shocked and surprised, the young helmsman asked, "What do mean by saying the Japanese made the three biggest mistakes an attack force ever made?
Nimitz explained:

Mistake number one:

The Japanese attacked Sunday morning. Nine out of every ten crewmen of those ships were ashore on leave. If those same ships had been lured to sea and been sunk--we would have lost 38,000 men instead of 3,800.

Mistake number two:

When the Japanese saw all those battleships lined in a row, they got so carried away sinking those battleships, they never once bombed our dry docks opposite those ships. If they had destroyed our dry docks, we would have had to tow every one of those ships to America to be repaired. As it is now, the ships are in shallow water and can be raised. One tug can pull them over to the dry docks, and we can have them repaired and at sea by the time we could have towed them to America. And I already have crews ashore anxious to man those ships.

Mistake number three:

Every drop of fuel in the Pacific theater of war is in top of the ground storage tanks five miles away over that hill. One attack plane could have strafed those tanks and destroyed our fuel supply.

That's why I say the Japanese made three of the biggest mistakes an attack force could make or, God was taking care of America.
I've never forgotten what I read in that little book. It is still an inspiration as I reflect upon it. In jest, I might suggest that because Admiral Nimitz was a Texan, born and raised in Fredericksburg, Texas -- he was a born optimist.

But any way you look at it -- Admiral Nimitz was able to see a silver lining in a situation and circumstance where everyone else saw only despair and defeatism.

President Roosevelt had chosen the right man for the right job. We desperately needed a leader that could see a silver lining in the midst of the clouds of dejection, despair, and defeat.

There is a reason that our national motto is, IN GOD WE TRUST.

D.O.T. / ZR-1
« on: December 09, 2021, 12:25:18 PM »
So it seems some folks from a former life just resurfaced.

That's a good thing

One a green beret, one an Apache helo crew-dog.

And both friends and good men.

And both own ZR-1 vettes.

Now you all may not know but I have been a Corvette guy for most of my life. I have owned a 1969 427 coup, a 1973, a 1987, a 1994 Z07, and a 2003 Z06.

These guys are like the bad little gnomes sitting on my shoulder wisperin' "Don, you need a ZR-1...Buy a ZR-1"
Frankly, its hard not to listen.

My Z06 was freakin fast, but my 94 lt1 with ported heads, cam and exhaust along with a tune was 11 second fast too.

The idea of driving an old warmed over ZR-1 around has me intrigued...

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / CIEMR: Madness
« on: December 09, 2021, 11:48:32 AM »
                                                                                                  MADNESS

Our Culture in America is falling apart. I would give the left very high marks for being so completely effective. They control messaging and therefore the news we hear is mostly good. But the reality is that we are very sick. Our nation has become dangerous, depraved, and except for holding out for the return of Jesus the future is not all that bright.

Here’s an example. Major cities are all, not mostly, but all of those controlled by a left leaning administration are experiencing record levels of crime led by murder. Since Biden took over, the numbers have been skyrocketing. Philadelphia is leading the nation. Murders up 58% since when Trump was president. LA is so bad the word coming from families there to their loved ones living elsewhere is “Don’t come home, it’s too dangerous.” It’s not the cops, it’s the DA in that and in most cities backed up by a liberal mayor. Police catch a good number of the criminals, but if those who are caught fit a certain profile, they are released. If they represent a group of the electorate that those in power need to remain in power, they are released because of a zero bail policy! Madness, just madness!

Do you see why gun control is so important to the left? Their policies usher in record crime. Obviously an empowered public could end all that Ricky-tick if we all were packing .45’s on our hip. But no, according to the left, we need to disarm and then the police who have been defunded can do their job and catch your murderer and keep him off the streets for several hours while they take his picture for the 70th time! Again, Madness!
Our border is the widest open gate for everyone in the world. Hundreds of miles of doorway just sitting there. It’s not a border, it’s a processing point where people heading north bound are processed. A place where one commits a crime by entering but is then quickly treated better than many of our own residents. Don’t bother applying and going through any process, simply fly into Mexico from anywhere, hire a service which will transport you directly to a known border crossing, then cross over and be picked up by US border control agents. You can later sue these officers if you want to, just find a good lawyer. These Border Police are really just baggage boys like we had when I flew jets. They will toss your bags and get you to the gate agent who will escort you to your leather seat. Once in that comfy seat you will be processed for Medicare, social security, given food stamps, a place to live, and likely even be bussed there. Then you can vote several times in the next election and help the cheating left install idiots into office like this Biden who will then introduce legislation to award you $450K for all your troubles at the hands of all those terrible law enforcement people.

People, if you can’t see a fight, an outright revolution coming you are friggin blind! A reasonable approach goes out the window when logic and reason is tossed out of the room. A 71 year old is executed during his morning walk just for fun by thugs who ought to be in school and the District Attorney tells you that is not a problem.

It is a problem when Black Lives matter criminals can loot and burn and kill for months and months and the feds/state do little to nothing to protect the actual citizens, and then at a school board meeting where Christian parents complain about a racist policy they are labeled terrorists! And that event becomes the basis for these same crooked left leaning and wacked out of reality administrations to take action against them that is harsher than toward those who burn cities for fun! We have the Attorney General of the US, the highest ranking law enforcement man in the country concur and sick the FBI on we the people. Something here is wrong, and worth fighting against on any level that is necessary to remove it or change it.

You are flat out stupid if you think all this is miraculously going to heal itself, that we are going to elect another congress of Republicans to fix it. No thank you, I have seen our republican electorate fail us time and time again. In the aggregate, they can’t tie their own shoe laces and are a magnificent failure and show zero courage in the face of adversity. The answer to something like what is going on is, unfortunately, plain old blunt force and resistance. Should a BLM movement arise and then they suddenly find themselves surrounded by a strong armed militia who is committed to law and order and justice you’d see change. Do you think there may be a different outcome? I do. I have served in many combat theaters for literally years and years. I know what happens when force meets force. The more powerful wins every time.

Americans win every time, eventually. We win because not only are we committed, well trained and well equipped, but we win because we stand for what is right and good. During a fight, you have to feel that it, your sacrifice, is worth the price. The cause of righteousness, and freedom, and goodness, and love are all good things. Admittedly, during a fight it often gets down to just the guy on your right and left, but something got you there in the first place. When I push the button to start the engine in my helicopter, the helo that is transporting a raiding party onto an enemy objective, I need to know what I am doing is just and right and good. If I thought it was evil, I would not push that button, and at least my helo would not be participating.

This government is gone, fell off the Clift with a corrupted election. Now these Marxists are in and on the run F’ing up everything. They are destroying our culture. They’re attempting to rewrite history. They are going to use any means possible to turn this country into a socialist, and that really means a communist nation. Enough is enough. Like Nancy Regan used to say to drugs, “Just say no.” Perhaps that needs to be our battle cry. If someone tells you that you can no longer own guns, we refuse to accept that. Then, say thirty thousand of us show up at the capital and use the streets there for a big block party for, say a week or two, do you think the corrupt leaders will actually still come for the guns? What if that happened all over the US of A? And if they do come, how many of those who would come are in reality one of we, the good people of America?

I’m just a dumb old warrant officer, but it seems to me, to be ten minutes past midnight on the nation’s clock. Perhaps it’s time to see if this latest generation of wusses has any fight in it.

What are you building? / Simple Child's desk
« on: December 08, 2021, 07:57:07 PM »
I mentioned in a couple of other threads that I was using my saw mill to cut some of that Oak into boards.

I decided to build a simple desk for my 8 year old grand daughter

She wants to write and loves art and has no where to work

So, taking those boards I glued up into a panel in the thread where I discuss those new panel clamps, I began

Here is the top made from many separate pieces all glued and clamped. The end pieces are held on with glue and a wood spline also made of oak

So here is where the BitCoin and Ethereum running average seems to be right now:

I have roughly half/half split between the two. In the past month I have seen a couple lows around 31K and one dipping to $30,500 and a high of around $40,800 with a bunch of $37K-and a couple higher.

So there are your markers.

Bitcoin ran from 66K down to 46K. Buy when it approaches say $47 and sell above $64K I think it may take two to possibly three-month intervals but that is a 30% gain 6 times a year. That should nearly triple your money in a year...

Now that i am producing timber from the saw mill, I have need to make up panels for tables and doors and cabinets.

I decided to build a maiden voyage project of a simple desk for a grand child.

The clamps I purchased clamp on the ends while also applying pressure on the top and bottom or front and back depending on orientation

Here they are:

John Steinbeck then wrote this about Army helicopter pilots in Vietnam;

“I wish I could tell you about these pilots. They make me sick with envy. They ride their vehicles the way a man controls a fine, well-trained quarter horse. They weave along stream beds, rise like swallows to clear trees, they turn and twist and dip like swifts in the evening. I watch their hands and feet on the controls, the delicacy of the coordination reminds me of the sure and seeming slow hands of (Pablo) Casals on the cello. They are truly musicians’ hands and they play their controls like music and they dance them like ballerinas and they make me jealous because I want so much to do it. Remember your child night dream of perfect flight free and wonderful? It’s like that, and sadly I know I never can. My hands are too old and forgetful to take orders from the command center, which speaks of updrafts and side winds, of drift and shift, or ground fire indicated by a tiny puff or flash, or a hit and all these commands must be obeyed by the musicians hands instantly and automatically. I must take my longing out in admiration and the joy of seeing it. Sorry about that leak of ecstasy, Alicia, but I had to get it out or burst.”

Politics/Know the Facts / Keystone pipeline or trains?
« on: November 27, 2021, 07:58:09 AM »

Pipelines vs. Trains vs. Cargo Ships

1 Train has 100 cars, 2 engines and weighs 27,240,000 pounds.

·        1 Train carries 3,000,000 gallons of oil.

·        1 train uses 55.5 gallons of diesel per mile.

·        It takes 119,000 gallons of diesel to go 2150 miles from Hardidsy, AB to Freeport, TX.

Keystone pipeline was to deliver 34,860,000 gallons of oil per day.

It would take 12 trains and 1,428,000 gallons of diesel to deliver that amount. PER DAY!

·        521,220,000 gallons of dieselburned per year.

The oil will still go to market with or without the pipeline.

By stopping the pipeline billions of gallons of diesel will be wasted and pollute needlessly.

Stop the Tar Sands all together? Then we must ship the oil from the overseas sandbox.

·        1 large oil tanker can haul 120,000,000 gallons of oil

·        1 boat takes 15 days to float across the Atlantic.

·        1 boat uses 63,000 gallons of fuel PER DAY, that is about 1 million gallons of the most polluting type fuel in the world PER TRIP.*(See below)

Or take 3.5 days of Keystone Pipeline to move the same amount of oil with a fraction of the pollution.

In international waters ship emissions remains one of the least regulated parts of our global transportation system. The fuel used in ships is waste oil, basically what is left over after the crude oil refining process. It is the same as asphalt and is so thick that when cold it can be walked upon . It's the cheapest and most polluting fuel available and the world's 90,000 ships chew through an astonishing 7.29 million barrels of it each day, or more than 84% of all exported oil production from Saudi Arabia.

Shipping is by far the biggest transport polluter in the world. There are 760 million cars in the world today emitting approx 78,599 tons of Sulfur Oxides (SOx) annually. The world's 90,000 vessels burn approx 370 million tons of fuel per year emitting 20 million tons of Sulfur Oxides. That equates to 260 times more Sulfur Oxides being emitted by ships than the worlds entire car fleet. One large ship alone can generate approx 5,200 tones of sulfur oxide pollution in a year, meaning that 15 of the largest ships now emit as much SOx as the worlds 760 million cars

Eliminate all gas consuming cars and diesel vehicles?

Worldwide car gas consumption is 403,583,712,000 gallons a year. That's billion.

Worldwide oil consumption is 1,500,000,000,000 gallons a year. That's trillion.

It takes 2.15 gallons of oil to make 1 gallon of gasoline, and 06 gal of diesel.

So it takes 867,704,980,800 gallons of oil to run the worlds cars, most diesel vehicles for a year and some ships

That leaves 632,295,019,200 gallons of oil for other uses.

Passenger vehicles are only a very small percentage of the problem. If emissions are the problem why not just capture them at the exhaust? Create an industry to clean exhaust instead of crushing an entire industry and building a complete untested, replacement industry?

So are we willing to dramatically increase mining to get all the minerals necessary to make all these batteries and electric motors?   Mining is far worse for the environment than oil extraction.

Killing Keystone was glibly decided by emotional idiots without brains! Destructive idiots who are fooling America to boost their standing with Foreign paymasters.
